Kansas City, Kan. — Vicki Bergkamp age 53 of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away Thursday June 25, 2009 at home. Funeral Mass Services will be 10:30am Wednesday July 1, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8pm Tuesday June 30 and one prior to the Funeral Mass both at the Church. The Rosary will be 7:30pm Tuesday at the Church.

Della Mae Ingle
Della Mae Ingle, age 86, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Monday Dec. 29, 2008 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Friday Jan. 2, 2009 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Lenape Cemetery near Bonner Springs. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home.
Della was born on June 1, 1922 in Thornburg, Arkansas. She moved to the Bonner Springs area in 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ingle. Survivors include her daughter Wanda Lee Walker and son John Smith and wife Kay all of Bonner Springs, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ernst Ulmer
Kansas City, Kan. — Ernst Ulmer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June the 9th, 2009, at the age of 86. He succumbed to a weak heart due to lifelong congestive heart disease. Funeral Services will be 9:00a.m. Saturday June 13 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Monticello Rd. & Johnson Dr.) in Shawnee, KS. private family burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be from 8:00 to 9:00a.m. prior to the service also at the Church. In lieu of Flowers the family request memorial contributions to the Kansas City Art institute or the American Heart Association both in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Dorothy L. Chamberlain
Kansas City, Kan. — Dorothy L. Chamberlain, age 87 of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Monday June 15, 2009. Graveside services will be 11:00a.m. Thursday June 18, at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 prior the service at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Kansas City, Kan. — Roger Lee Chandler, 68, of Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Thatcher’s Funeral Home Chapel, 1520 North 5th Street, KCK. Funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Highland Park Cemetery.

Margaret E. Dixon-Wasson
Margaret E. Dixon-Wasson, 96, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Indian Creek Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1610 North 10th Street, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel.

Charles Martin Jones
Charles Martin Jones was born February 17, 1949. He died December 11, 2008 at KC Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Charley lived his life in the Armourdale, Argentine, and Turner areas of Kansas City, KS. He was a retiree of the Ford Motor Company. He had worked at Ford's Parts and Service Division in Lenexa, KS where he served as a UAW committeeman for Local 249. Charley was a lifetime member of the Wyandotte County Historical Society and Museum. He was an avid reader, wrote many poems and short stories, and collected Mr. Potato Head memorabilia and the art of Ernst Ulmer. He loved his family, friends, old cars and dogs. Being a conversationalist, Charley also enjoyed his time on the phone with everyone he knew and his message machine was a source of entertainment for all who called him. Survivors include one brother, Ted Jones of Coffeeville, KS; two sisters, Sally Miller of Olathe, KS and Louise Crable of Kansas City, KS; three nephews, Martin Jones of Atlanta, GA, Brian Miller of Olathe, KS and Danny Miller of Gardner, KS; two nieces, Rebecca Hill of Greensboro, NC and Marcie Higby of Miami, OK. Charley also leaves behind a multitude of friends, acquaintances, family members, extended family members and three ex-wives (and their current husbands) who were kept close in his circle. A celebration of the life of Charley Jones and the scattering of his ashes will be planned for Spring 2009. In the meantime, Bob Tucker, Charley's best friend since kindergarten, is producing a collection of "Charley Jones Stories". To share your anecdotes, please contact Tucker at btucker49@kc.rr.com. Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Thatcher’s Funeral Home Inc., Chapel, 1520 North 5th Street, KCK. Funeral services at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation.

Odell E. Nave
Odell E. Nave, 85, of Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Research Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Dec. 22, at Greystone Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 133 Greystone Ave., KCK. Funeral services at noon at the church. Interment at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.

Mark B. Williams
Mark Williams, 56, Kansas City, KS passed away December 15, 2008 after a brief illness. Mark truly lived life to the fullest with his love of music, island travels, and scuba diving. He was an avid professional photographer and an amateur astronomer. Mark was an accomplished Eagle Scout and continued to enjoy the great outdoors while sailing at Wyandotte County Lake nearly every day the wind would allow. He grew up to reside in the house built by his great grandfather where he did amazing woodworking and intricate antique repair in the same workshop and with the same tools as three generations before him. He was a master craftsman and truly a "Jack of all trades".
Mark was preceded in death by father Walter Williams. He is survived by daughter Nicole Williams, brother Mike Williams, sister Wendy Joyce, mother Jeanrose "Jo" Smith, nieces, nephews, and many others dear to his heart.
Direct cremation followed by memorial gathering to take place Friday, January 9, 2009 from 4-11pm in Davis Hall at Wyandotte County Lake, which was one of Mark's favorite places to be.

Ala Dell Nyman
Kansas City, Kan. — Ala Dell Nyman, 92, passed away on July 9,2009 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence, Ks.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Alden – Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at the visitation on Monday evening, from 6 to 8 pm, July 13, 2009 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church or the Bonner Springs Public Library in care of the funeral home.
Ala Dell was born, December 22,1916, in Linwood, Kansas, the second child of Carl and Harriet Meinke. She graduated from Linwood High School in 1934 and completed her education degree from the University of Kansas in 1938. She remained a life long KU fan. She taught in a one room school for two years. She taught at Loring school for one year.
Ala Dell and Noel Nyman were married on June 29,1941. They lived in Concordia and Osawatomie, Kansas before moving to Bonner Springs, Kansas in 1949. In 1956 she started teaching in the Bonner Springs school system and taught there for twenty-five years.. She enjoyed teaching and often remembered the people she met and taught while teaching .She moved to Lawrence in 1996.
Ala Dell was a member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, PEO Sisterhood, American Association of University Women, Mended Hearts, and the Bonner Springs Volunteer Ambulance Service. Ala Dell was on the Bonner Springs library board for many years, and was an avid, reader reading over 100 books a year for many years.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Noel Nyman in 1993 and two brothers Albert and Theodore Meinke. She is survived by her two sisters, Eve Rouke of Falmouth, MA and Barbara Kleist of Newport Beach, CA. Her children, daughter Barbara Nash and her husband Alan of Lawrence, Ks. and son Eric Nyman and his wife Sara of Liberty, Mo.; four grandchildren Shelley Garrison, Erica Davis, Brian Nash, and Sara Wiehn and fourteen great grandchildren.

Lascelles Adair
Kansas City, Kan. — Lascelles Adair, 86, passed away December 22, 2008 in Plattsburg, MO. Funeral service will be 2:30, Friday, December 26, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1:30 until service time Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ararat Shrine-General Fund.
Lascelles was born May 14, 1922 in Buffalo, MO, the daughter of Ervin and Linnie (Hill) Strickland. She was a loving mother who raised 9 children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years: Andrew J. Adair Sr.; children: Andrew Adair Jr., and Sally Passler; sister: Mary and a grandson.
Survivors include her children: Lennis Adair and wife Mary of KCK, Sherrill Dana of St. Petersburg, FL, Lois Saul and husband John of Edgerton, MO, David Adair and wife Debbie of KCK, June Sailler and husband Daniel of Overland Park, KS, Janice Adair of St. Petersburg, FL, Kim Blakeney and husband Scott of Tarpon Springs, FL; sister: Lois Payne of Buffalo, MO; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

James K. Closser, Jr.
James K. Closser, Jr., 59, of Edwardsville, Kan., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Highland Park Funeral Home & Crematory, 41st & State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan., with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

Thomas John Dickson
Thomas John Dickson, 92, of KCK, passed away December 21, 2008 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 26, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, KCK. Visitation will be 10:30 until service time. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 8822 Parallel Pkwy, KCK, 66109.
Thomas was born December 15, 1916 in Admire, KS, the son of Mathew and Elizabeth Dickson. He graduated from High School and attended Kansas State University until his father’s death required him to return home to the family farm. He was later drafted and was a WWII Army Veteran, moving to KCK after his discharge. After moving to KCK, he met his future wife, Margaret Graves. They were members of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was active in the bowling league. Thomas worked for over 40 years as a truck driver for the Santa Fe Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 50+ years: Margaret. He is survived by 4 sisters: Esther Lemke of Bend, OR, Ruth Lydanne, Agusta Shepherd and Naomi Snyder all of Emporia, KS; brother: Hiram Dickson of Topeka, KS, many nieces, nephews and friends.
