Carter, Ricky L., age 29, passed away on January 26, 2002, in Memphis TN, at his home. Mr. Carter was a 1990 graduate of Caney Valley High School. Cremation has taken place and his ashes were buried on the family land near Copan on February 9, 2002. He is survived by his mother, step-father, father, step-mother, one brother, and two sisters. Mr. Carter was recently preceded in death by his nephew.

McDowell, Lillian R., 79, passed away February 3, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Independence. Mrs. McDowell had been in ill health. Services were held February 6, 2002 at the Cherryvale United Methodist Church with interment at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Mrs. McDowell is survived by her husband, Luther, as well as two daughters, one sister, five brothers, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Adams, Mariella “Mari”, passed away February 8, 2002 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, after a long struggle with emphysema. Mrs. Adams and her husband, Homer, were co-owners of Adams Heating and Air Conditioning of Coffeyville. Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, two sons, one daughter, one sister, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel with burial in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, both of Coffeyville.

Bowman, Edna Florence, of rural Coffeyville, died February 7, 2002 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Bowman is survived by two daughters and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1985. Services for Mrs. Bowman were held on February 11 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel with burial in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Holmes, Gerald “Jerry” Kenneth, died at the age of 75 on February 4, 2002 while feeding cattle. Mr. Holmes had worked for NuWay Grocery of Coffeyville for over thirty years. He is survived by his wife, Becky, as well as three brothers and three sisters. Cremation has taken place and no services were scheduled. Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service handled the arrangements.

Shetler, Pauline R., age 93, died February 6, 2002 at her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1986. Mrs. Shetler is survived by one son, three daughters, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services were held on February 9, 2002 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel with burial in Ross Cemetery, west of Neodesha.

Richards, Leola, age 65, died February 8, 2002 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on February 13, 2002 at the Thayer Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, Kenny, as well as three daughters, one son and seven grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.

Duncan, Glenda J. (Dixon), age 50, former resident of Lakewood, Colorado and Parsons, died February 4, 2002 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Funeral services were held February 8, 2002 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Duncan in 1985. She is survived by her mother, one brother, three uncles and two aunts.

Jones, Warren C., age 83, died February 5, 2002 at the home of his daughter were he had been living. Funeral services were held February 8, 2002 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial was in the Labette Cemetery with military honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of foreign Wars. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Belle Burris on April 23, 1963. He is survived by one son, one daughter, thirteen grandchildren and two great grand children.

Baxter, Marble Booth, age 93, died October 7, 2002. Funeral services were held October 10, at the First Baptist Church of Caney, with burial in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, under the direction of the Graves Funeral Home of Caney. Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his wife, Nila in 2001. He is survived by two sons, one daughter, two brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Maher, Ignatius S., age 93, died October 11, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, with internment in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Mr. Maher is survived by his wife, Martha, two sons, two daughters, three sisters, twenty two grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Robertson, Dorotha A., age 69,died October 7, 2002. Funeral services were held October 10, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cherryvale, and grave side services and internment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, Ks., under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Mrs. Robertson was preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Bill” in January 2002. She is survived by one sister and several nieces and nephews.

Buetow, Wilbur W., age 77, died October 6, 2002. Funeral services were held October 9, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel in Coffeyville, with burial in the Mound Valley Cemetery. Mr. Buetow is survived by his wife, MayBelle, two sons, two daughters, one sister, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Campbell, Edith Loreen, age 89, died October 8, 2002. Funeral services were held October 11, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, both of Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, George, one son, one brother, one sister and two granddaughters.

Carson, Mary Lois, age 84, died October 8, 2002. Graveside services were held October 11, at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mrs, Carson was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1978. She is survived by one daughter, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Fletcher, Ermial, age 85, died October 10, 2002. Funeral services were held October 12, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, both of Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her husband, George Bowen, during World War II, and her second husband , J. Willard Fletcher in 2001. She is survived by two sons, one daughter, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Leonard, Bernice Irene, age 87, died October 8, 2002. Funeral services were held October 12, at the Ford-Wulf- Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, both of Coffeyville. Mrs Leonard was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, in 1991. She is survived by two sons, two daughters, seventeen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.

Shields, James “Jim” Dale, age 77, formerly of Coffeyville, died October 11, 2002. Funeral services were held October 14, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, both of Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mr. Shields is survived by his wife, Jeannine, one daughter, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sloan, Chester C., age 83, died October 11, 2002. Funeral services were held October 15, at the Holy Name Catholic Church of Coffeyville, with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mr. Sloan is survived by his wife, Helen “Betty”, three daughters, one son, eighteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Shinkle, A. D. age 70, died October 9, 2002. Funeral services were held October 11, at the Timmons Funeral Home of Fredonia, with burial in the Fredonia City Cemetery, under the direction of the Timmons Funeral Home of Fredonia. Mr. Shinkle is survived by his wife, Margaret, his mother, one twin brother, one sister, brother and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.

Spohn, Lenora Isabel, age 98, died October 11, 2002. Graveside services were held October 14, at the Fredonia City Cemetery, under the direction of the Timmons Funeral Home of Fredonia. Mrs. Spohn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1972. She is survived by one daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

George, Stella M., age 68, died October 9, 2002. Cremation has taken place, under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Independence. Mrs. George is survived by her husband, Freddy J. Sr. She is also survived by two sons, one daughter, three brothers, one sister, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Auman, Thyra B., age 82, died October 9, 2002. A private service was held October 12, in the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home garden, with burial in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Mrs. Auman was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1995. She is survived by two sons, one daughter, three grandchildren and one aunt.

Mitchell, Dennis T., age 54, died October 3, 2002. Funeral services were held October 9, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his guardians, Donald and Maybelle Denney.

Rowe, Teresa “Kaye”, age 39, died October 7, 2002. Funeral services were held October 12, at the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons, under the direction of theForbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Mrs. Rowe is survived by one son, four daughters, two brothers, nine sisters, several nieces and nephews and a special friend.

Bowser, William Ober (Bill), age 81, died November 25, 2002. Mr. Bowser has donated his body to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A Graduation Celebration was held November 30, at the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville. Funeral arrangements are supported by the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral of Coffeyville. Mr. Bowser was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, the mother of his children. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie May, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 2 step-sons, 2 step-daughters, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers.

Burghart, Ruby E., age 82, died November 30, 2002. Funeral services will be held December 4, at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, with burial in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, under the direction of the Graves Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Mrs. Burghart was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1995. She is survived by 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and 1 brother.

Coffey, Austin Calvin, age 82, died November 24, 2002. A funeral service was held November 29, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife, Jessie, 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 stepsons, 1 stepdaughter, 2 brothers, 10 grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Price, Robert “Bob” Eugene, age 54, died November 24, 2002. A funeral service was held November 29, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, both of Coffeyville, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Cindy, 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 stepbrother, 1 stepsister and 1 granddaughter.

Rigney, Barbara L., age 57, died December 1, 2002. Services were held December 3, at the Potts Chapel in Independence. Graveside services will be held December 6, at the Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Illinois, under the direction of the Noel-Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin, Illinois. Local arrangements were under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Independence. Mrs. Rigney was preceded in death by her husband, William Dean, in 1991. She is survived by her companion, 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 grandchild and 2 brothers.

Rutter, Vivian June, age 87, died November 24, 2002. A funeral service was held November 27, at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel of Coffeyville, with burial in the Tanneyhill Cemetery in Arkansas City, Ks., under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Mrs. Rutter was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, in 2000. She is survived by 2 daughters, 1 brother and 4 grandchildren.

Kinman, Rosalee, age 80, died December 1, 2002. Graveside services were held December 3, in the Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville. Ms. Kinman is survived by 1 sister, one niece and 4 nephews.

Bond, Laymon G. “Red”, age 89, died November 24, 2002. Funeral services were held November 29, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg, under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Mr. Bond was preceded in death by Mabel, in 1993. He is survived by 1 son, 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
