CHRISTINE AELIA KETCHUM

ELKHART -- Christine Aelia Ketchum, 83, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at her home in Elkhart.

She was born March 17, 1916, to R.D. and Florence (Kelley) Moore in Alden.

She married Carl Ketchum Aug. 10, 1934, in Johnson. He died Dec. 30, 1989.

She had been a resident of Elkhart since 1934. She was a homemaker.

She was a past member of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, both of Elkhart.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Dee McKee, Hutchinson, Carolyn June Crist, Elkhart, and Janet Lee Dickerson, El Paso, Texas; one brother, Marvin D. Moore, Fritch, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Elkhart, with the Rev. John Durham presiding.

Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Harrell Funeral Home in Elkhart.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association.

ORVILLE W. LOFLAND

LIBERAL -- Orville W. Lofland, 79, Liberal, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born July 15, 1920, to Jess F. and Nellie P. (Terrell) Lofland in Liberal.

He graduated from Liberal High School and entered the U.S. Navy. He went to an electrical school in Wichita and had worked on the construction of the Optima Dam.

He lived in Beaver, Okla., and Dodge City before he returned to Liberal.

He was a member of the Liberal Friends Church.

Survivors include four brothers, Francis Lofland, Wichita, Lester Lofland, Louisville, Ohio, Lloyd Lofland, Fritch, Texas, and Ralph Lofland, Liberal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Liberal Cemetery, with the Rev. Emery Hunt presiding.

Memorials are suggested to Liberal Friends Church, in care of Miller Mortuary, P.O. Box 826, Liberal, KS 67905-0826.

GRACE V. WOODROW

GARDEN CITY -- Grace V. Woodrow, 90, former Garden City resident, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit, Satanta, where she had been a resident for the past two and a half years.

She was born March 4, 1910, to Peter D. and Helena (Dirks) Voth in Meno, Okla. She moved with her parents to a farm near Claremore, Okla., then moved to Montezuma in 1919.

She married James Woodrow July 6, 1940, in Dighton. They moved to Copeland, then to Pierceville in 1942. They retired in 1970 and moved to Garden City. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1988.

She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm caring for cattle and crops.

She was baptized Oct. 30, 1955, in the Church of the Brethren in Garden City. She was a member of the Federated Church, Pierceville.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Emma Voth, Garden City, Lillian Voth, Montezuma, and Lula Voth, Dodge City; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Elizabeth Penner; six brothers, Herman, Henry, Jake, Ben, Frank and Albert Voth; one brother-in-law, Jake Penner; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Voth and Lillie Voth.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Tuesday at Faith Mennonite Church, Montezuma, with the Revs. Val Krehbiel and Ervey Unruh presiding.

Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery, Montezuma.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Montezuma Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Faith Mennonite Church music department, in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

FELICITA ANE NELSON

LIBERAL -- Felicita Ane Nelson, was stillborn Friday, March 17, 2000, at the Southwest Medical Center.

She is survived by her parents, Ryan and Katrina (Schnaufer) Nelson, Liberal, grandparents, Gail Peake Nelson, Locust Grove, Okla., and Jack Nelson, Liberal; Jack and Becky Schnaufer, Keyes, Okla.; great-grandparents, Lucille Smith, Liberal, Clyde Peake, Locust Grove, Okla., Blackie and Leona Nelson, Liberal, and Billie Schnaufer, Keyes, Okla.

Graveside services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday at the Liberal Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Hildebrandt presiding.

Miller Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

EDNA CARLILE

LIBERAL -- Edna P. Carlile, 68, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

She was born Feb. 28, 1932, to Emil and Pearl (Ingerham) Thompson in Seward County.

She married Bill Carlile July 19, 1953, in N.M. He survives.

She graduated from Liberal High School. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother.

She attended St. Paul United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary, both of Liberal.

Other survivors include two sons, Bill Carlile Jr. and wife, Shirley, Liberal, and Wesley Carlile, Turpin, Okla.; one daughter, Pamela Harness and husband, L.B., of Liberal; two brothers, Eldon Thompson, Gainsville, Ohio, and Harvey Thomspon, Liberal; four grandchildren, Mandi Martin, Rick Carlile, and Tom and Ashley Harness.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary to sign the register from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to the Victory in the Valley, Wichita, in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 North Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67905.

JAMES D. ANDREOTTA

LIBERAL -- James D. Andreotta, 66, died Tuesday, March 21, at his home, following a sudden illness.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced Miller Mortuary.

JIM ANDREOTTA

LIBERAL -- Jim Andreotta Sr., 66, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at his home, following a sudden illness.

He was born Oct. 20, 1933, to Jack and Kay (Bunting) Andreotta in Chicago.

He married Dorothy Fennewald Sept. 26, 1953, in Lawrenceburg, Ind. She survives.

He grew up in Chicago and graduated from the DeLaselle High School in Chicago.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

He was production line supervisor for the American Can Corp., and retired after 33 years in August 1985. He moved to Liberal in September 1985 and was a security guard for Idlewild Securities, which later became National Beef Packing Security. He retired in February 1996.

He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Chicago.

Other survivors include two sons, James Andreotta Jr. and wife, Linda, and Kevin Andreotta and wife, Mary, all of Liberal; one daughter, Kathleen Gaston and husband, Roger, Santa Fe, Mo.; his father, Jack Andreotta, Evergreen Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Roxane Speagle, Heath and Jason Gaston, Nikki Spurgin, Tina and Tabitha Andreotta and Sabrina Seitter; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m Friday at Miller Chapel, Liberal. Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Arkalon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal.

ESTHER E. McALISTER

LIBERAL -- Esther E. McAlister, 82, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born March 28, 1917, to J.F. and Lizzie (Brimmage) Hightower in Dombey, Okla.

She married Ward McAlister Dec. 26, 1936, in Beaver, Okla. He survives.

She was a graduate of Turpin High School, Turpin, Okla.

She lived most of her life on a farm and ranch south of Turpin. After 40 years of farming, she and her husband retired and moved to Liberal in 1975. She loved music and played and sang with the Hooker Gospel Singers and Kan-Okie Rambler.

She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Turpin United Methodist Church in Turpin. After she moved to Liberal, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Liberal.

Other survivors include one son, Frank Gibson and wife, June, Apple Valley, Calif.; two daughters, Dolores Davis and husband, Paul, Turpin, and Donna Bosley and husband, Michael, Dodge City; one sister, Berta Blair, Bella Vista, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Ann McAlister; two brothers, Troy and Harold Hightower; and two sisters, Ivie Miller and Ollie Rice.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Turpin United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Stan Lehnert and Don Patrick presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Kitch Funeral Home. The family will be present from 2-4 p.m. Friday.

BETTY BRADFORD

LIBERAL -- Betty Bradford, 75, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Sept. 20, 1924, to James Royal and Edna Olive (Hecox) Bradford in Hooker, Okla.

She was a 1943 graduate of Liberal High School. She went on to become a hairdresser for many years. She ran her own shop called Betty's. In 1968, she was employed at Beech Aircraft until her retirement in 1992.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include one brother, Edwin Bradford and wife, Allie Lou, Liberal; one sister, Joye Garrison, Liberal; and six nieces and nephews, Joan Jackson, Liberal, Janelle Kirby, Vista, Calif., Kenny Garrison, Liberal, Jim Bradford, Olathe, Merl Bradford, Riverside, Mo., and Edwina Bradford, Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Allen Bradford.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. Charles Rowley presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Kitch Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association of Kansas, in care of Kitch Funeral Home.
