LUELLA MAY FRY
ELKHART -- Luella May Fry, 60, died April 13, 2000, at Baptist-St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born Dec. 23, 1939, to C.J. and Anna Marie (Naugle) Purdy in Dalhart, Texas.
She lived in Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle all her life.
She was a farmer and a member of the Cancer Support Group, Keyes, Okla.
Survivors include two sons, Eldon and Dallas Fry, both of Keyes; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church of Keyes, with the Rev. Dale Watkins presiding.
Burial was at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Harrell Funeral Home, 514 Kansas Ave., Elkhart, KS 67950.
HAZEL THOMPSON
HUGOTON -- Hazel Thompson, 97, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Ulysses.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Hugoton, with the Rev. Kevin Yoakum presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery.
FRANCIS W. KISTLER
Johnson -- Francis W. Kistler, 85, Ulysses, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home in rural Grant County.
He was born Aug. 9, 1914, to George and Vina Kistler in Hamilton County.
He was a farmer and rancher.
He was a former resident of Manter, and he belonged to the First Christian Church, Lamar, Mo.
He married Fern Wright May 18, 1940, in Syracuse. She survives.
Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Kistler, and one sister, Dollie Hunker.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today at the Stanton County Cemetery, with the Rev. Dave Kaufman presiding.
Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Hospice, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS 67855.
CLIFFORD LEE HOWARD
ULYSSES -- Clifford Lee Howard, 77, Ulysses, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
He was born March 10, 1923, to Arthur Lee and Ruby Lee (Hampton) Howard in Boise City, Okla.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a construction worker and had been a lifetime resident of Ulysses.
He married Beulah Maxine Howard Sept. 22, 1946, in Ulysses. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, David Lee Howard, Drumright, Okla., and Jonnie Wayne Howard, Deerfield; one daughter, Cindy A. Zielinski, Saginaw, Mich.; six brothers, Raymond and Kenneth Howard, both of Ulysses, Arthur Howard, Denver, Colo., John Howard, Carrollton, Texas, Lloyd Howard, Eureka, and Ronnie Howard, Longmont, Colo.; three sisters, Bessie Loran Smith, Crossville, Tenn., Mary Lou Martin, Unionville, Tenn., May Orbeck, Berthoud, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Richard Howard; one brother, Leroy Howard; and one great-grandson, Levi Wayne Lightner.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Freewill Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Wayne Bookout presiding.
Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery
with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

RAYMOND C. KENNEMER
SUBLETTE -- Raymond C. Kennemer, 81, a former Sublette resident, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Cordell Christian Home in Cordell, Okla.
He was born Jan. 18, 1919, to I.C. and Minnie (Britton) Kennemer in Carter, Okla.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Sublette.
He married Jewel Kimberlin Sept. 25, 1948, in Wichita. In 1950, they moved to Sublette, where he worked for the gas company. She preceded him in death Oct. 28, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Larry "Kim" Kennemer and wife, Nancy, Chester, Okla., and Ray Lynn Kennemer and wife, Kerry, Dumas, Texas; one brother, Frank Kennemer, Lovington, N.M.; three sisters, Dora Dacus, Cordell, Juanita Garret, Sayre, Okla., and Ruth Johnson, McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren, Michele Kennemer, Gina Kennemer, Carisa Kennemer and Julie Kennemer; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Marvin Kennemer; and one sister, Fern.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ, Sublette, with the Rev. Gerald Steward presiding.
Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Sublette.
BENNIE J. STAMPS
LIBERAL -- Bennie J. Stamps, 45, Liberal, died Sunday, at her home, from an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 30, 1954, to Ben and Nancy (Dye) Stamps, at McGehee, Ariz.
She lived in Liberal and attended school in Liberal, before moving to Calif. where she graduated from high school. She moved back to Liberal Oct. 1999, from Dallas, Texas.
She was a homemaker and a mother. She was also a Certified Nurses Aide.
Survivors include one daughter, Tamu Cathey, Dallas; four brothers, Fred Ellis and wife, Arma, Los Angeles, Calif; Bobby Joe Stamps, and wife, Jeanette, Pittburg, Calif., M.C. Stamps and wife, Alberta, Pittsburg, and Jerry Stamps, Fort Worth, Texas; five sisters, Celia Ann Lee, Goleta, Calif., Pearl Williams, Dallas, Christine Hammond and husband, Robert; Sady Stamps, Santa Barbara, Calif., Ora Stamps, Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Shola Cathey.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Miller Chapel with the Rev. A.H. Smith Jr. presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Mortuary and from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday.
TOMMY LEE YOUNG
ULYSSES -- Tommy Lee Young, 71, died April 16, 2000, at VA Nursing Home in Denver, Colo.
He was born Jan. 4, 1929, to Marion Delbert and Vera Bell (Parker) Young in Tioga, Colo.
He attended grade school and high school in Canon City, Colo. He was a resident of Syracuse.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a licensed master plumber and he later worked as a pumper for Amoco.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Canon City, and the American Legion of Ulysses.
Survivors include two sons, O.D. Young and wife, Linda, Ulysses, and Doug Young and wife, Marilyn, Syracuse; one daughter, Joy Valentine, and husband, Dave, Ulysses; two brothers, Marion Young, and wife, Jean, West Unity, Ohio, Jim Young and wife, Rose, Westminster, Colo; one sister, Geraldine Goodrich and husband, Bud, Canon City; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy McGillivray, Ulysses, June Bolen, Plains; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, O.D. Young; and one sister, Pearl Young.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shelton Memorial Church with the Rev. Bill Harrold and John Warring presiding. Military rites will be presented at the church with cremation following services.
Friends may call at Garnand Funeral Home from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests memorials be given to an organization of the donor's choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS.
JESSIE OPAL HANCOCK
Jessie Opal Hancock, 90, died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Billings, Mont.
She was born March 8, 1910, to Andrew and Martha (Moody) Ryan, in Hartsville, Mo.
She married William Henry Hancock Aug. 18, 1934.
She worked for many years at the YMCA. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended First Congregational Church. She was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include one son, Gary Hancock and wife, Marie, Billings, one sister, Letha Egbert, Hermit, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Doris Hancock, Bellevue, Neb. and Wanda Hancock, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Teri Lee and husband, Charles, Houston, Mike Hancock and wife, Sherry, Fort Worth, Texas, Karan Hancock, Liberal, and William Hancock and wife, Kelly, Lincoln, Neb.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and her eldest son, Larry.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church in Billings.
A private burial will follow.
The family suggests memorials to an organization of the donor's choice. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
MARY "DOT" CLARK
LIBERAL -- Mary "Dot" Clark, 85, Liberal, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born Nov. 28, 1914, to Ott and Mary Jane (Parker) Eudy in Bennington, Okla. She had been a resident of Liberal since 1960, moving from Pampa, Texas.
She married Buford Clark, Dec. 28, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas. He died March 31, 1990.
She was a retired supervisor for Southwestern Bell.
Survivors include one brother, Frank Eudy, Kingsland, Texas; three nieces; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Michael and William Clark, one brother, William Eudy, and two sisters, Pebble Roberts and Ella Bennett.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal, with Perry O'Dell presiding.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home.
