WANNETTA CLARK

HUGOTON -- Wannetta Clark, 87, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Heritage House in Clinton, Ind.

She was born Feb. 3, 1913, to Lewis and Clara (Bell) Kilbourn in Hugoton.

She was a homemaker and belonged to the Hugoton United Methodist Church , the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and Clinton & Clinton Royal Neighbors.

She married Robert A. Clark. He died in 1974.

Survivors include one son, Robert D. Clark and wife, Donna, Orland Park, Ill.; one sister, Maxine Ramey, Wichita, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald. D. Clark.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hugoton Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Baile presiding.

Friends may call at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton until 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Pauls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ABRAHAM FEHR

KISMET -- Abraham Fehr, infant son of Abram and Agatha (Wall) Fehr, was stillborn Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Survivors include his parents of Kismet; two brothers, Peter Fehr and Ernie Fehr, both of Kismet; grandparents, Issac and Anna Fehr, Leamington, Canada, and Peter and Helen Wall, Harrow, Canada; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maria Fehr.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Reinlaender Mennonite Church in Sublette, with the Rev. Johan Peters presiding.

Burial will be at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

CHARLES V. BOND

PLAINS -- Charles Vinton Bond, 86, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at his rural home south of Plains.

He was born Feb. 27, 1914, to William H. and Carrie F. (King) Bond in Pratt County.

He married Lena Schell Dec. 16, 1938, in Antioch. She died Aug. 19, 1988.

He was a farmer. He moved to the Plains area in 1919 with his parents and then moved to Jewell County in 1946. He returned to rural Plains in 1959.

He was a member of the Friends Church in Plains.

Survivors include eight sons, Dean Bond, Benny Bond and Edward Bond, all of Plains, LeRoy Bond, James Bond and John Bond, all of Liberal, Larry Bond, Garden City, and Carl Ray Bond, Girard; four daughters, Lena Faye Henderson, Karliss Cox and Eldeana Winfrey, all of Plains, and Melba VanOsdol, Dodge City; two sisters, Elma Seawright, Guymon, Okla., and DeEtta Ferguson, Liberal; 43 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Carl and Oscar Bond; and two sisters, Irene Frederick and Pearl McVey.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Plains Friends Church with the Revs. Dan Biernacki and Randy Littlefield presiding.

Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fidler Orme-Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the Children's Department at Plains Friends Church in Plains.

IONE L. SHUCK

ULYSSES -- Ione L. Shuck, 87, died April 19, 2000, at Villa Hermosa Health Care Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was born Sept. 24, 1912, to Herman and Louise (Kiistner) Coerber in Lakin.

She married Richard Ross in 1943 in Ulysses. He died in 1970.

She married Donald Shuck March 30, 1975, in Alma, Neb. He died Dec. 25, 1990.

She was a former resident of Pampa, Texas, Skelly Town, Texas, and Ulysses. She graduated from Ulysses High School in 1931.

She had worked as a school teacher and a nurse before her retirement. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne, Fort Worth; one brother, Milton Coerber, Lakin; two sisters, Louella Lichtz, Belle Vista, Ark., and Ruth Kuhlman, Lakin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three children, George Ross, Lanny Ross and Gertrude Louise Ross; three brothers, Walter, Harold and Alvin Coerber; and one sister, Alice Achelbein.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, with the Rev. Dennis Mason presiding.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

The family suggests memorials be made to an organization of the donor's choice, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

CLIFFORD MENDENHALL

Clifford Paul Mendenhall, 90, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Sept. 9, 1909, to James and Anna (Kramer) Mendenhall near LaCrosse Rush, Colo.

He married LaVone Woltman Nov. 9, 1935, at Tyrone, Okla. She died Feb. 28, 1995.

He moved to Tyrone and graduated with the Tyrone High School in 1924.

He began farming in partnership with his brother, Carl, in 1935. In 1937, he moved to a farm southeast of Baker, Okla. He moved to Liberal in 1965. He retired from farming in 1975.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the 20th Century Sunday School Class and the Noon Lions Club, all of Liberal.

Survivors include four nephews and two nieces.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Ralph Mendenhall; and one sister, Irene Rollins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Shull presiding. Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Kitch Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in care of Kitch Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second St., Liberal, KS 67901.

EDITH M. MATHESON

Edith M. Matheson, 81, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal following a short illness.

She was born April 15, 1919, to Alonzo A. and Lydia T. (Irons) Woodrum in Hardesty, Okla.

She married Theodore "Ted" Matheson Sept. 23, 1935, in Liberal. He died Dec. 3, 19993.

She attended school in Hardesty and moved to Liberal in 1933. She was a waitress for 20 years at the Coffee Cup and later at the Blue Goose.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Liberal.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Matheson and wife, Betty, Hugoton; two brothers, Robert Woodrum, Perryton, Texas, and Paul Woodrum, Salem, Ore.; four sisters, Naomi Hillis, Liberal, Jewell Banks, Booker, Texas, Verda Cooper, Hardesty, and Rinda Bartlett, Dodge City; three grandchildren, Dean Matheson and wife, Cheryl, Diana Jernigan and husband, Monte, and Shari Norris and husband, Scott; and six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, one step-great-grandson and one step-great-great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one half-brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Miller Chapel in Liberal, with the Rev. David Parker presiding.

Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

DONALD G. PEIRCE

ULYSSES -- Donald G. Peirce, 57, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born, March 12, 1943, to Glen Clarence and Vera Mae (Patterson) Peirce in Garden City. He was a resident of Ulysses, since 1949.

He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He worked for Popejoy Construction for 29 years, and was employed up till his death by Ritchie Paving.

Survivors include his mother, Vera Mae Bullock, and her husband, Lester, Ulysses; one son, William G. Peirce, and wife, Shara, Ulysses; one daughter, Michelle K. Peirce, Liberal; one sister, Wilma Coghill, and husband, Roy, Ulysses; two grandchildren, Bradley and Kyley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Clarence Peirce and one brother, Edward Peirce.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at the Free Will Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Wayne Bookout presiding.

Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. today, at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, KS.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or to the church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

MURIEL PATRICIA TEDDER

MANTER -- Muriel Patricia Tedder, 67, Manter, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

She was born May 8, 1932, to Freeman Taylor and Mildred V. (Watson) Walker in Lincolnville, Okla. She had been a resident of Manter since 1946.

She married George C. Tedder Nov. 22, 1953. He survives.

She worked for the State Statistical Reporting and the SRS office in Johnson. She was a volunteer fireman and a school bus driver for USD 452.

She was a board member of the Stanton County Senior Center, a member of the Manter City Council, the Eastern Star of Johnson, the American Legion Auxiliary of Ulysses, Rebecca Lodge of Fowler, Kansas, the Futorum Club of Johnson and Moose Lodge of Dodge City. She was also member of the United Methodist Church of Manter, Kansas.

Other survivors include her mother, Mildred Walker, Manter; two sons, George R. Tedder, and wife Donna, Syracuse, and Jerry C. Tedder, Manter; one brother, Freeman G. "Bud" Walker, Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Ellen K. Walcher, Woodward, Okla., Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Devers, Booker, Texas, Linda Donati, Strattford, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Taylor Dean Tedder, Matthew Thomas Tedder, and Britt Jaree Tedder; and one step-grandchild, Heath Huser.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Manter with the Revs. Charles Rowley and Dave Kaufmann presiding.

Burial will be at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with an Indian traditional burial ceremony.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson.

The family suggests memorials to the Josephine Goodboo Watson Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS, 67855.
