EUNICE I. SAMPLE
Eunice I. Sample, 90, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born May 7, 1910, to Samuel and Esther (Berry) Bartee in Mexia, Texas.
She married Jerry Lee Sample Nov. 29, 1927, in Caney, Okla. He died Feb. 20, 1980.
She was a Liberal resident since 1959, moving from Medicine Lodge.
She had worked as a sales clerk at Grisers for 17 years and at Daniels Western Wear for 8 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Liberal, and a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star, Medicine Lodge.
Survivors include two daughters, Laressa Guild and husband, Don, Turpin, Okla, and Juanita Page and husband, Gordon, Vancouver, Wash.; her caretaker, Janet Smith,
Liberal; one brother, Eugene Bartee, Pocatello, Idaho; one sister, Leona Whittaker, Galveston, Texas; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Gwendolyn Carson; one brother, Bill Bartee; and three sisters, Nina Ruth Goral, Odessa Mills and Jimmy Lillian Bartee.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Loucks presiding. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Kitch Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday.

JOHN ROBERT ROSE
ABILENE, Texas -- John Robert Rose, 84, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his home in Abilene.
He was born Dec. 25, 1915, to Robert F. and Claudia Rose in Rankin, Okla.
His family moved to Liberal in 1933 where he completed high school and met Georgie Stalcup, whom he married. They were married for 62 years. She survives.
He attended Cleveland College in Kansas City.
He worked for Pacific Electric Railway, and Standard Oil Company as an auditor, both in Los Angeles.
He and his family moved back to Liberal in 1949 where he was employed as the general manager of an automobile dealership and taught at several different churches that were unable to support full-time pulpit ministers.
He moved to Abilene in 1964 where he was sales manager of Taylor Chevrolet and later operated his own used car business until suffering a disabling stroke in 1970.
He also served as one of the leaders of T & P Lane Church of Christ and assisted in the Sunday morning worship services at Coronado Nursing Home for many years.
Other survivors include one son, Robert Stanley Rose, Abilene; two daughters, Joella Rose-Taylor, Amarillo, Texas, and Lynn Rose-Smith, Rockwall, Texas; and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene.

HENRY "HANK" FELTON COCKERHAM
Henry "Hank" Felton Cockerham, 63, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Oct. 27, 1936, to James and Mary (Dendy) Cockerham in Emerson, Ark.
He married Bernadene (Latrell) Blake Dec. 10, 1956, in Hobbs, N.M. She survives.
He was a resident of Liberal for the past 40 years after moving from Guymon, Okla.
He worked for Hamilton Brothers Oil Company for almost 24 years. He then became a field superintendent for R & H Operating in Oklahoma. His last employment was with Nichols' Fluid Service as a dispatcher.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Other survivors include one son, James Felton Cockerham and wife, Cindy, Albemarle, N.C.; one daughter, Norma Jean Beer and husband, Billy, Liberal; and he raised a daughter, Reba Lois Kirk and husband, Paul, Liberal; 10 grandchildren, Tina, Rodney Jr. and Greg Nelson, Michael and Chris Mouser, Jamie Cockerham, Robert Myers, Mandy Tanking, Bobby Beer and Krissy Kirk; and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Kyle Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Darla Jean Nelson and Thressa Kay Brown; one great-grandson, Victor Alexander Chavez, and one brother, James T. Cockerham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Lehnert presiding. Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at Kitch Funeral Home.

WARREN H. GOOS
Warren H. Goos, 82, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born Dec. 11, 1917, to Albert and Alice (McGuire) Goos in Tyrone, Okla.
He married Margarette Tucker June 1, 1940, in Liberal. She survives.
He graduated from Tyrone High School, Tyrone, in 1937 and moved to Liberal in 1940. He had farmed several years and later worked at Blakemore Brothers Bowling Alley, Hodges Candy Company, for 13 years. He then worked as a salesperson for Standard Supply before retiring.
He was a member of the former Tyrone Christian Church, Tyrone.
Other survivors include one son, David W. Goos, San Antonio, Texas; one sister, June Smith, Boise, Idaho; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
His body was donated to the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Chapel with the Rev. Tom Wilkins presiding.

VERA I. BAYLOR
WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- Vera I. Baylor, 76, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at West View Nursing Home in West Plains.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary.
VERA INEZ "MICKEY" BAYLOR
WEST PLAINS Mo. -- Vera Inez "Mickey" Baylor, 76, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at West View Nursing Home, West Plains.
She was born Aug. 18, 1923, to Gus and Beatrice (Pitts) Collins in Crumwell, Okla.
She married David W. Baylor. He died Nov. 17, 1985.
She and her husband owned and operated the Shamrock Truck Stop and Cafe from 1957-89, Turpin, Okla. She later worked for the Geist Cleaning Service for many years.
She moved to Coffeyville before entering the nursing home in 1996, West Plains.
She was a member of the Turpin Baptist Church, Turpin, Okla.
Survivors include two sons, David E. Baylor and wife, Lynda, Oklahoma City, Dale Baylor and wife, Marlene, Madison; three daughters, Norma J. Butzene and husband, Al, Drury, Mo., Lila Hill and husband, Dale, Liberal, Gwendolyn G. Baylor, Independence; one step-son, Jerry Baylor, Texas; two step-daughters, Linda Cook, Columbus, Ohio, and Barbara Scates, Gentry, Ariz; one brother, Lamen Collins, Las Vegas; and eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
The family will conduct private funeral services at the Miller Chapel. Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8-10 a.m. Thursday at Miller Mortuary.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, and may be left in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67901.
CONNIE CLAIRE DAVIS
ASHLAND -- Connie Claire Davis, 48, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Duarte, Calif.
She was born July 28, 1951, to James and Helen (Fellers) Green in Orange, Texas.
She lived in Palmdale, Calif., and was a school teacher for the Palmdale School District.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Palmdale.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Davis, Palmdale, and Christopher Davis and wife, Heather, Sturgeon, Wis.; one daughter, Jennifer Davis, Palmdale; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Ashland, with the Rev. Don Hasty presiding.

JAMES DEE JENNINGS
HUGOTON -- James Dee Jennings, 43, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born Aug. 12, 1951, to John Dee and Neva (Coffee) Jennings in Pueblo, Colo.
He was a pen rider for Sunbelt feeders.
Survivors include one son, Jake Jennings, Pueblo; two daughters, Dori Nichols, Pueblo, and Jeana Rodigues, Pueblo West, Colo.; one sister, Sandy Proctor, Pueblo West; and two grandchildren.
The body will be cremated. Inurnment will follow in Pueblo.
Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, is in charge of arrangements.
