ROGER W. BOND

LECOMPTON -- Roger W. Bond, 57, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his home in rural Douglas County.

He was born Oct. 14, 1943, to Alvin and Mildred (Powell) Bond in Liberal.

He married Carolyn Frye July 29, 1967, in Lawrence. She survives.

He attended Wichita Friends University and the University of Kansas.

He had been a resident of Lawrence since 1965.

He was a medical technologist at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 33 years. He had formerly worked for 12 years at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lawrence and was active in the Kansas City District Nazarene Mission Council. He coordinated and participated in mission trips to Peru, Venezuela and Kenya.

He was a member of the Antique Airplane Club of Kansas City and the Save A Connie Airplane Club.

Other survivors include one daughter, Wendi Georgie, Lawrence; three sons, Randall Bond, Topeka, Robert Bond and Richard Bond, both of Lawrence; his mother, Mildred, Plains; two brothers, Hubert Bond, Plains and Harvey Bond, Garden Grove, Calif.; one sister, Maxine Lamb of Ireland; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Victory Bible Church (formerly the First Nazarene Church building) in Lawrence.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton.

The family will greet friends from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the Nazarene World Missions in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

SOFIA ACEVEDO LIMON

SATANTA -- Sofia "Grammie" Acevedo (Martinez) Limon, 85, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.

She was born July 19, 1915, to Blas and Maria (Acevedo) Martinez, in Mercedes, Texas.

She married E.P. Limon March 15, 1942, in Weslaco, Texas. He survives.

She and her husband moved to Satanta from Chicago, Ill., in 1955.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, especially making homemade tortillas.

Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and making handmade gifts for her family and doing crossword puzzles.

She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Stitch and Chatter Club, and the Altar Society, all of Satanta.

Other survivors include three sons, Rick Limon and wife, Evelyn, Satanta, Les Limon and wife, Roxanne, El Dorado, and Emilio Limon and wife, Susan, Anthony; two daughters, Maria Edna Smith, Satanta, and Juanita Lau and husband, Rocky, Satanta; one brother, Manuel Martinez, Chicago; one sister, Blasa Martinez, Weslaco; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Satanta with Father Louis Trung Hoang presiding.

Burial will follow at the Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.

Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials have been established for either the Happy Agers Site, the Satanta EMS or the Stitch and Chatter Club, all of Satanta and may be left at the Shopping Stop True Value in Satanta, or mail to the Haskell County Funeral Home, P.O. Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

BONNIE SEAWRIGHT

Bonnie Seawright, 81, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Oct. 14, 1919, to I.C. and Maude (Jones) Seawright in Hooker, Okla.

She graduated from Hooker High School in 1937 and from Adela Hale Private Secretarial School in Hutchinson in 1938.

She worked as a payroll clerk for Panhandle Eastern in Liberal from 1938-1948, and then worked for Baughman Farms from 1948-1970.

She was a secretary for the Anschutz Farms from 1971-1972.

She obtained her real estate broker license for both Kansas and Oklahoma and retired from Mr. B&B Real Estate.

She had been a member of the Southwest Kansas Realtors, serving as their secretary for three years, and was also a member of the Kansas and National Association of Realtors.

She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Her hobbies included needlepoint.

Survivors include one brother, Hugh Seawright, Yukon, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, I.C. Seawright and R.S. Seawright; three sisters, Glynese Hantla, Rowena Budd and Juanita Seawright; six half brothers, Roy Seawright, Walter Seawright, Jack Seawright, Bailey Seawright, Edgar Seawright and Lannie Seawright; and two half sisters, Lilly Grounds and Faye Arnold.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

HARVEY R. SHERRILL

Harvey R. Sherrill, 83, Liberal, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 24, 1918, to Eugene N. and Dollie (Dement) Sherrill in Dombey, Okla.

He married Ruby L. Mires May 13, 1944, in Guymon, Okla. She survives.

He attended the Dombey School and later Turpin High School in Turpin, Okla.

He was in CCC in Colorado for several years. He returned to farm in the Dombey community until moving to Liberal in 1957. He was employed at Hall Construction and later as groundskeeper at the Liberal County Club. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.

Other survivors include four sons, Roger Sherrill, Alvin Sherrill and wife, Doris, and Don Sherrill and wife, Tonjua, all of Liberal, and Jerry Sherrill and wife, Rose, Derby; eight grandchildren, Wendy, Jennifer, Brian, Anthony, Kelly and Rhiannon, Sherrill, Leslie Patrick and Angelia Graham; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, five sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Western Avenue Church of Christ, with Wade Tannehill presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.

Friends may call at Miller Mortuary from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8-11 a.m. Monday.

Services are under the direction of Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

WILLIAM A. PETERS

William A. "Bill" Peters, 92, longtime resident of the Liberal Good Samaritan Center, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 25, 1909, to Henry George and Mary Christine (Thein) Peters in the St. Anthony community near Quincy, Ill. He moved with his family to Panhandle, Texas, in 1912.

He married Beatrice Malinda Kamphaus Jan. 7, 1942, in Canute, Okla. She preceded him in death.

He was self-employed as a farmer/dairyman and later became a custodian for the White Deer Elementary School in White Deer, Texas, retiring in the 1970s after 20 years of service.

He moved to Liberal in 1985.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.

Survivors include one son, John Peters, Amarillo, Texas; four daughter, Carolyn Rouillard, Oklahoma City, Margaret McWilliams, Hooker, Okla., Betty Gregg, Liberal, and Mary Beth Matkin, Carrollton, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Michael Black; one great-grandson, Austin Castillo; four brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal, followed by the recitation of the rosary.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in White deer, with Monsignor Kevin hand presiding.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer.

DANIEL ELTON MCINTOSH

NEWTON -- Daniel Elton McIntosh Jr., 81, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

He was born July 7, 1919, to Daniel Elton Sr. and Mary Evelyn (Ford) McIntosh in Hooper, Colo.

He married Bessie Mae Wills March 24, 1943 near Lyons. She survives.

He moved to Clay Center in 1925 and was a 1937 graduate of Clay Center High School.

He attended Washburn University and graduated from Wisconsin School of Banking.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.

He served as president of People's National Bank for 30 years and served on the Board of Directors from 1945 until his retirement in 1988. He was serving as vice chairman as the time of his death.

He was past director of the Kansas Association of School Boards, Director of the Central National Banking Board Association, and of the Mid-America Presbyterian Manor Holding Association.

He was a member of the executive board and a past treasurer of the Kansas Banking Association.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and became an elder in 1949.

He was a member of the Lions Club, and had served as a deputy district governor, and was past president of the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce.

He was also a member of the Clay Center Planning Board, School Board and Library Board.

He was a charter member of the Clay County Hospital Foundation, Clay Center Economic Development Group and Clay Center Presbyterian Manor.

He also was a charter member of Clay Center Country Club and was a holding board member for 55 years.

He was a member of BPOE, American Legion and VFW, all of Clay Center.

Other survivors include three daughters, Ann Adrian and husband, Tom, of Newton; Mary Shull and husband, Phil, of Liberal; and Sue Fawcett and husband, Jim, of Clay Center; one brother, William McIntosh, Clay Center; one sister, Mary Evelyn Anderson, Orange Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Elton McIntosh III.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, with Dr. David Bybee presiding.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lyons Municipal Cemetery in Lyons.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh St., Clay Center. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or the Clay County Hospital Foundation.
