TED J. VALDEZ SR.
ULYSSES -- Ted J. Valdez Sr., 49, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born July 29, 1951, to Jose Aucencio and Marie E. (Esqivel) Valdez in Raton, N.M.
He married Alice Guzman April 20, 1968, in Holly, Colo. She survives.
He had been a resident of Ulysses since 1977.
He had been employed by the Grant County Court House and Gibson's in Ulysses. He was a custodian at Ulysses High School for the past four years.
He was a member of the Family Worship Center International Church in Ulysses.
He was a graduate of Otero Community College in La Junta, Colo.
Other survivors include his mother; two sons, Theodore J. Valdez Jr. and wife, Susan, and Jeremy Carlos Rodriguez, all of Ulysses; one daughter, Doris Ann Rodriguez and husband, Rafael, Ulysses; three brothers, Alex Ruben Valdez Sr., Jose LeRoy Valdez and Alex Ruben Valdez Jr., all of Las Vegas, N.M.; mother-in-law, Josie Guzman, Ulysses; one sister-in-law, Leticia Valdez; four grandchildren, Savanah Lee Leon, Joseph Michael Valdez Jr., Johnnie Christopher Leon and Nichole Isabella Valdez; and four nephews, Robert Lee Valdez, Jonathan Adam Valdez, Michael Valdez and Jared Valdez.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Benito Domigo Valdez; one grandson, Christopher Adraham; and father-in-law, Nasario Guzman.
An evening service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Family Worship Center International Church in Ulysses.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Family Worship Center International Church with Pastor Charlie Rogers presiding.
Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday until service time Friday at Family Worship Center International Church.

CLARICE L. HILL
ULYSSES -- Clarice Lillian Hill, 85, formerly of Ulysses, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Live Oak Nursing Center in George West, Texas.
She was born March 9, 1916, to Clarence and Lillian Marshall in Denver.
She married Glenn Hill. He survives.
She attended school at West Lawson School in Grant County.
She had worked as a blueprint operator for a print shop.
Other survivors include two cousins, Marjorie Epps of Alpine, Texas, and Phyllis White of Mathis, Texas.
She was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Roy and Alice King.
Graveside services and inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses with the Rev. Sam Bynum presiding.

ROBERTO SOSA
HUGOTON -- Roberto Sosa, 71, of Hugoton, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 4, 1930, to Salvador and Juana (de Santigo) Sosa in Wright.
He married Glyndene Ray Zaloudek in 1960. She died in 1975.
He married Annette Meier June 23, 1979, in Hugoton. She survives.
He graduated from Garden City Community College and Wichita State University.
He had been a resident of Hugoton since 1958.
He was a speech therapist for the Hugoton school district.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and held the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, the Purple Heart and the Korean Distinguished Service medal.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus third and fourth degree, the Lions Club, the Recreation Commission, the Ministerial Alliance, and the St. Catherine Hospital Hospice Board.
He taught golf and archery in the summer to the youth in Hugoton. He was also a hunter education instructor.
Other survivors include one son, Roberto Sosa II and wife, Paula, Hugoton; two daughters, Allison Sosa and Elizabeth Sosa, both of the home; two brothers, John Sosa, Johnson, and Salvador Sosa, Liberal; two half-brothers, John Sosa and Mark Sosa, both of Ulysses; two sisters, Josephine Taul, Ulysses, and Molly Herrin, Valley Station, Ky.; three half-sisters, Stella Ibarra, Gloria Hernandez and Mita Franco, all of Ulysses; and two grandchildren, Haley and Riley Sosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Limon and Elvera Sosa.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Liturgy of the Word service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, both at St. Helen Catholic Church with Father Fred Gatschet presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

PEARL M. DOWSE
COPELAND -- Pearl M. Dowse, 95, formerly of Copeland, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Home in Dodge City.
She was born Nov. 23, 1905, to William and Nellie (Tucker) Kimler in Great Bend.
She married Harold L. Dowse Oct. 29, 1927, in St. John. He died Aug. 14, 1947.
She moved from Copeland to Dodge City in 1970, and had lived at the Dodge City High Rise for 23 years. She moved to the Good Samaritan Home, where she has been a resident for the past eight years.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Copeland Christian Church in Copeland.
Survivors include two sons, Basil G. Dowse and wife, Linda, Dodge City, and Malen E. Dowse and wife, Marilyn, Topeka; three grandchildren, April Bice and husband, J.L., Justine Carlson and husband, Dustin, and Jason Dowse and wife, Sue; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Lee Kimler and Charles A. Kimler; and one grandson, Scott Harold Dowse.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Copeland Cemetery
in Copeland with the Rev. Larry Donelson presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Burkhart Funeral Home in Dodge City. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8p.m. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

MIRIAM "MIMI" DUNN
Miriam "Mimi" Calder Dunn, 78, died March 7, 2001, in Castle Rock, Colo.
She had been a long time resident of Liberal and moved to Castle Rock in June of 1999.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Liberal with the Rev. Stephen Saville presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Metro Denver in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second St., Liberal, KS 67901.

SUBLETTE -- Antonio Ramond Garcia and Alexandra Jo Garcia,
infant twins of Ramond Garcia and Erica Gonzales, were stillborn Sunday, April 8, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
Survivors include their parents, Ramond Garcia, Satanta, and Erica Gonzales, Sublette; one sister, Aunity Gonzales, Sublette; grandparents, Juanita and Lenny VanEtten, Sublette, and Guadalupe and Ramon Garcia, Satanta; great-grandparents, Francis and Glendolyn VanEtten, Sublette, Dionicio Rios, Satanta, and Helen Sandoval, Garden City; aunts, Nicole Gonzales, Jessica Gonzales and Sara VanEtten, all of Sublette; and uncles, Jesus Garcia and Luis Garcia, both of Satanta.
They were preceded in death by great-grandmother, Juana Rios.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta with Pastor Mike Garza presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

DUSTIN J. STOUT
PLAINS -- Dustin J. Stout, 25, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home in Plains.
He was born June 11, 1975, to Ron and Mary (Barragar) Stout in Chadron, Neb.
He married Lori S. Smith Dec. 17, 1999, in Meade. She survives.
He attended school in Gering, Neb.
He moved to Meade in 1999, and later moved to Plains in January of 2000.
He was employed as a construction worker in western Kansas by Borton Inc. in Hutchinson.
Other survivors include three sons, Zach and Cameron Stout, both of the home, and Adam Stout, Nebraska; his father, Ron Stout, South Dakota; one brother, Shane Stout and wife, Trea, North Platte, Neb.; grandparents, Bob and Kathryn Barragar, Torington, Wyo.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Barbara Smith, Plains.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Plains United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dick Robins and Vernon Maezler presiding.
Friends may call at Miller Mortuary in Liberal to sign the register. Cremation has already taken place.
