RONALD BALDWIN

HUTCHINSON -- Ronald "Ron" Baldwin, 55, former Liberal area resident, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born Dec. 29, 1945, to George and Iva (Forsythe) Baldwin in Hugoton.

He married Kristi K. Meyer March 12, 1978, in Hugoton. She survives.

He was a longtime resident of Hutchinson, moving there from McPherson. He grew up in the Liberal area.

He was a warehouseman for Dillon's and a retired captain with the Reno County Sheriff's Department Reserves.

He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Hutchinson. He was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years.

He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 795.

He coached softball for the Full Gospel Church, T-ball and baseball for the Hutchinson Recreation Commission, Cub Ball for the Boy Scouts Pack No. 313, and was an umpire and referee for the Golden Gloves Boxing organization. He was the former assistant baseball coach for Hutchinson High School.

Survivors also include one son, Anthony Baldwin, Buhler; three daughters, Shelley Baldwin, Brandi Meyer, and Ronni Rae Baldwin, all of Hutchinson; one brother, Rickey Baldwin, Anthony; two sisters, Marcita Tuman, Lemoore, Calif., and Betty Morris, Hutchinson; six granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Vicki Hall and Avis Miller.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Hutchinson, with Pastor Tom Dillwith presiding.

Burial will follow at the Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Full Gospel Assembly Church, or the Hutchinson Recreation Commission, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

JENNIE MARIE REESE

COPELAND -- Jennie Marie Reese, 95, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home in Copeland.

She was born April 2, 1906, to Charles E. and Jennie (Sterling) Sommerville, in Kinsley.

She married Victor E. Reese March 9, 1923, in Meade. He died Nov. 16, 1978.

She moved to Copeland in 1912. She moved to Dodge City in 1971, where she was a resident for 19 years. She moved to Canon City, Colo., in August of 1990, living there for 10 years. She moved back to Copeland in September of 2000.

She was a homemaker.

Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, working with ceramics, collecting Avon bottles, watching television, and playing table games.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Copeland.

She was a member of the Friday Afternoon Club and the Rebekah Lodge, both of Copeland.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Reese and wife, Bonnie, Sunnyvale, Calif., Vic G. Reese and wife, Marilyn, Bakersfield, Calif., Ron Reese and wife, Joan, Copeland, Jerry Reese and wife, Sonja, Garden City, and Roger Reese and wife, Verona, Canon City; two daughters, Betty Hartnett and husband, Arnold, Ensign, and Barbara Downing and husband, Allen, Copeland; one son-in-law, Daniel Wagner, Dodge City; 36 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Sterling Raymond Reese; one daughter, Virginia Wagner; one grandson, Danny Wagner; one granddaughter, Vickie Herrick; one great-granddaughter, Sunny Marie Rutledge; three brothers, Jim Sommerville, Sam Sommerville, and Charles Sterling Sommerville; and two sisters, Maude Sommerville and Esther Eslinger.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Copeland, with Pastors Warren Cico and Larry Donelson presiding.

Burial will follow at the Copeland Cemetery in Copeland.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials have been established for either the United Methodist Church, or the Copeland Cemetery, both of Copeland. Memorials may be left at Dunham Drilling in Copeland, or mail to Haskell County Funeral Home, P.O. Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

AGNES K. FITZGERALD

Agnes K. Fitzgerald, 77, Liberal, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.

She was born Feb. 13, 1924, to Nick and Agatha (Weber) Kerschen in Goddard.

She attended school in Goddard.

She moved to Liberal in 1963 from Deerfield.

She married Robert D. Fitzgerald Aug. 24, 1949. He died April 5, 1974.

She worked as a waitress and cook for many years. She worked at the Golden Derrick, the Sonic Drive-In, the Petroleum Club and Bob's Diner. She was an Avon representative for 12 years.

She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.

She was a member of the Garden City Kennel Club in Garden City.

Survivors include one son, Larry Fitzgerald and wife, Robin, Boggs, Okla.; two daughters, Carol Hecox and husband, David, Washougal, Wash., and Barbara Fitzgerald, Liberal; one sister, Martha Woeste Kettering, Ohio; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Jonathan Hecox, and Stacey, Jamie and Gregory Fitzgerald.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Miller Chapel in Liberal, with Spencer Powers presiding.

Burial will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.

Friends may call at Miller Mortuary in Liberal from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Children's Hospital in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67905.

SAM PITTMAN

Sam Pittman, 86, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at his home in Liberal.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

AGNES K. FITZGERALD

Agnes K. Fitzgerald, 77, of Liberal, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.

KATHERINE REIMER

WICHITA -- Katherine Reimer, 88, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Wichita.

She was born Dec. 16, 1912, to Henry R. and Sara (Friesen) Classen in Meade.

She married Jacob Reimer. He survives.

She had been employed as a dietician at St. Francis Hospital and Osteoplathic Hospital, both in Wichita. She was retired.

She had been a resident of Wichita for several years.

Other survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Jordan and Irene Grant, both of Wichita, and Betty Penner and Norma Sells, both of Overland Park; three brothers, Frank Classen, Meade, Sam Classen, Newton, and Albert Classen, Wichita; four sisters, Margaret Reimer, Hesston, Helen Friesen, Aurora, Colo., Bertha Zielke, Fowler, and Elsie Goertzen, Hampton, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Tara Grant Dolister, Dr. Tiffany A. Grant, Matthew A. Grant, Robert J. Sells, Brian J. Sells, Diana Baber, Cheryl Beyer and Jeanne Jordan; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bernahrd Classen, Isaac Classen, Henry Classen and Herman Classen; and one sister, Agnes Opie.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Emmanuel Mennonite Cemetery in Meade.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita.

Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Box F, 212 South Fowler St., Meade, KS 67864.

SAM PITTMAN

Sam Pittman, 86, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at his home in Liberal.

He was born Jan. 2, 1915, to Porter and Annie Maude (Woodruff) Pittman in Prairie Grove, Ark.

He married Opal Moore Dec. 24, 1939, in Liberal. She survives.

He graduated from Prairie Grove High School and from a business school in Fayetteville, Ark.

After graduation, he moved to Liberal, where he was employed at Ideal Food Stores.

He moved to a farm north of Woods in 1944, where he farmed and ranched.

He belonged to the Stevens County Farm Bureau and was a past member of the Stevens County Fair Board and Golden Plains Baptist Church.

He was a member of Lone Star Friends Church.

Other survivors include one son, Roger Pittman and wife, Anna, Littleton, Colo.; one daughter, Martha Thompson and husband, Joe, Hugoton; two brothers, Joe Pittman and Bill Pittman, both of Liberal; one sister, Mary Sue Davis and husband, Leonard, Liberal; four grandchildren, Joe D. Thompson and wife, Valerie, Hugoton, Jay Thompson and wife, Michelle, Garden City, Sara Pittman Meyer and husband, Jeremy, Topeka, and Lea Pittman, Las Vegas; four great-grandchildren, Jace, Jaron and Vance Thompson, all of Hugoton, and Malia Meyer, Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Pittman; and one sister, Clementine Pittman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lone Star Friends Church in Liberal with the Rev. Randy Littlefield presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lone Star Friends Church in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second St., Liberal, KS 67901.
