SUBLETTE -- Doris White, 77, Sublette, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Via Christi Rmc-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.

She was born July 22, 1923, to Clarence and Lanine (Downs) Gilbert in San Augestine, Texas.

She married Eldon B. White Oct. 7, 1945, in San Benito, Texas. He died March 3, 1987.

She was a member of the Christian Church, OES and Past Matrons Club, all in Sublette.

Survivors include one son, James "Jim" Eldon White and wife, Jan, Larned; one daughter, Connie Lanine Myers and husband, Lynn, Sublette; one brother-in-law, Woodrow Holt, Liberal; one sister-in-law, Della Doran, Liberal; and two grandchildren, Ashley Lanine Myers and Paige Hilary White.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret Gilbert.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Church in Sublette with Minister David Erwin presiding.

Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials are suggested to either the USD 374 Music Department or to the American Diabetes Association, both in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

VICKY BAILEY

MEMPHIS, Neb. -- Vicky Bailey, 36, Memphis, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, near Ashland, Neb., as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident.

She was born July 2, 1964, to J. Travis and Marilyn K. (Sloan) Bailey in Dennison, Texas.

She graduated from Dennison High School and attended Grayson County College in Dennison.

While in Texas, she worked as a housekeeping supervisor at a local hospital.

She moved to Memphis in 1997, and was employed at U-Mix Products and was a part-time waitress in Memphis and Venice, Texas.

Survivors include one son, Heath Bailey, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Crystal Bailey, Omaha, Neb.; her parents of Cartwright, Okla.; one brother, James Bailey, Paris, Tenn.; four sisters, Debbie Bailey, Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy Zielinski, Yutan, Neb., Jeannie Bailey, Adrian, Texas, and Cheryl Burch, Providence, Va.; former husband, Larry Gibson, Omaha; her special friend, Scott Houston, Memphis; one uncle, Robert Sloan, Tyrone, Okla.; and one aunt, Billie Jean Wriston, Liberal.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Donia Sloan; and one uncle, Wally Sloan.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Marcy Mortuary Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Todd Storm presiding.

Additional funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. David Hellmig presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

ELNORA M. MAY

ULYSSES -- Elnora Maxine May, 76, Ulysses, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born April 9, 1925, to Roy Adrine and Bessie Estella Candace (Stevens) May in Moscow.

She had been a resident of Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses for several years.

Survivors include one brother, Roy Eldon May and wife, Shirley, Moscow; one sister, Cleo Fern Barton and husband, Clem, Great Bend; and 13 nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Lila McCoy, Vera Kathryn Turner, Winna Bea May and Madge Leonard.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moscow Cemetery in Moscow.

Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.

DONALD W. CAFFEY

FAIRVIEW, Utah -- Donald Wayne Caffey, 66, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at his home in Fairview.

He was born July 4, 1934, to Lonney L. and Mildred C. Caffey in Liberal.

He married Pauline Bench Sept. 12, 1953. She survives.

Other survivors include, one son, Rischa "John" Cook, Fairview; one daughter, Hayden "Collene" Caffey, West Jordan, Utah; two brothers, Jim Caffey and Lonney Caffey; three sisters, Betty Lou Kindsvater, Nadine Christensen and Ruth Lyda; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Fairview Second and Third Ward Chapel in Fairview.

Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Ursenbach Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Utah, and from 9:45 a.m. until service time Monday at the Fairview Second and Third Ward Chapel.

DARRELL WARES

ELKHART --­ Darrell Wares, 71, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

He was born Sept 11, 1929, to Alva Leon and Bonie Jean (Story) Wares in Elkhart.

He married Evelyn Lawrence Oct. 18, 1955, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

He had been a lifetime resident of Elkhart.

He was employed as a pumper at Oxy USA for 26 years.

He was a member of VFW Post No. 3162 in Elkhart.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert Wares, Sacramento, Calif., and Jamie Wares, Elkhart; three daughters, Jennifer Hanson, Amarillo, Texas, Vickie Myers and Debbie Coen, both of Elkhart; one brother, Lester Wares, Sutton, Alaska; one sister, Claudine Fee, Pleasantville, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart with Elder Dale Coen presiding.

Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Whistle Stop Park in Elkhart in care of Harrell Funeral Home, 514 Kansas Avenue, Elkhart, KS 67950.

LAWRENCE J. GILLEN

MEADE -- Lawrence J. Gillen, 73, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Meade District Hospital in Meade.

He was born Sept. 8, 1927, to Dominic J. and Wilemina Ann "Minnie" (Lampe) Gillen in Kingman County.

He married Dottie Tacha July 23, 1951, in Meade. She survives.

He and his family moved to Leoti, and he graduated from Leoti High School in 1945.

After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served from 1946 until 1947.

He had been a resident of Meade since 1947, and he was employed as a pipeline foreman at ANR Pipeline for 27 years. He retired in 1989.

He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion, both in Meade.

His hobbies included attending local Meade High School sporting events.

Other survivors include two sons, Jim Gillen, Aurora, Colo., and Bob Gillen, Woodward, Okla.; three brothers, Dom G. Gillen, Meade, Nick Gillen, Leoti, and Walter Gillen, Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Rose Zellmer, Warwick, Mass.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Father Zeno Ye Swe presiding.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

The family suggests memorials to Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Box F, 212 S. Fowler St., Meade, KS 67864.

JUANA MONTOYA

SATANTA -- Juana Montoya, 31, Satanta, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, west of Satanta in an automobile accident.

She was born July 14, 1969, to Eleuterio and Consuelo (Casas) Ledezma in El Porvenir, Chihuahua, Mexico.

She married Heriberto Montoya in Mexico. He died Dec. 12, 1990.

She moved from Mexico to Moscow, and then to Satanta in 1990.

She was employed by Seaboard Farms.

She was a member of the Jesus Christ One Way Church in Satanta.

Her hobbies included reading her Bible and listening to Christian music.

Survivors include two sons, Freddy Montoya and Javier Fernando Ledezma, both of Satanta; four daughters, Joanna Montoya, Jonee Rehmke, Jennifer Rehmke and Stephanie Rehmke, all of Satanta; one step-daughter, Elizabeth Montoya, Fort Hancock, Texas; her mother, of Mexico; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was also preceded in death by her father, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta with Pastor Mike Garza presiding.

Burial will be at the Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877. Memorials may also be left at the Shopping Stop True Value in Satanta.
