OTIS R. PATHEAL

HUGOTON -- Otis R. Patheal, 85, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

He was born Dec. 18, 1915, to Hugh L. and Gertrude (Blakeman) Patheal in Illiopolis, Ill.

He married Halycon "Skip" Schlosser April 30, 1946, in Decatur, Ill. She survives.

He had been a resident of Hugoton since 1993, having moved from Englewood, Colo.

He had been a truck driver and managed storage units.

He was a member of Assembly of God in Hays and Calvary Temple in Denver. He attended Assembly of God in Hugoton.

Other survivors include four daughters, Penny Freeman, Sedgwick, Tina Austin, Quincy, Ill., Vickie Becker, Denver, and Toni Smith and husband, Jim, Moscow; 14 grandchildren, Chris Freeman, Tammy Venn, Chrystal Freeman, Todd Freeman, Carla Grindstaff, Brock Becker, Chantal Spires, Stacy Smith, Travis Smith, Susan Stambaugh, John Patheal, Norman Patheal, Jacquetta Austin and Billy Austin; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Otis R. "Sonny" Patheal Jr.; four brothers; one sister; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.

Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Otis Patheal Memorial Fund in care of Citizens State Bank, 601 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.

FAYETTA LOWRY

HUGOTON -- Fayetta Lowry, 82, Hugoton, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.

CHARLES E. BUTLER JR.

Charles E. Butler Jr., 50, Liberal, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born Jan. 14, 1951, to Charles E. and Ruby S. (Ward) Butler in Lubbock, Texas.

He graduated from Liberal High School and Seward County Community College, both in Liberal.

He moved to Lubbock, where he lived for nine years. He returned to Liberal in 1991.

He was an inspector for Seaboard Farms in Guymon, Okla., for the past five years.

Survivors include one son, Charles L. DeVorce, Wichita; one daughter, Tiffany Butler, Wichita; his mother, Ruby Pace, Liberal; two brothers, Otis Ward and Kenneth Pace, both of Liberal; four sisters, Kiddie Bond, Liberal, Barbara Pace, Oklahoma City, Paulette Pace, Las Vegas and Regina Butler, Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Charles, Cierra and Maricela DeVorce.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bibleway Church of God in Christ with the Revs. B.D. Williams and Lawrence Johnson presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel in Liberal.

MELISSA STYRON

Melissa (Street) Styron, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.

She was born July 5, 1912, to Frank Edward and Bessie (McIntosh) Street in Glendon, N.C.

She married Hugh Charles Styron March 24, 1943. He survives.

She graduated from high school in 1929. She received a registered nurse degree from the School of Nursing of Kings Park State Hospital in the state of New York in 1934. She later received a degree in social work and public health nursing in Richmond, Va.

She and her husband lived in Jacksonville, Fla., during most of their marriage.

In May of 1998, they moved to Liberal. She had been a resident of Liberal Good Samaritan Center since her arrival in Liberal.

Her hobbies included flower gardening, and she belonged to the Japonica Flower Circle in Jacksonville. Playing the piano, sewing and reading were also some of her favorite hobbies.

She was a member of the Arlington United Methodist and the Methodist Women's Church Circle.

Other survivors include two daughters, Anne Smith and husband, Bill, Liberal, and Melissa Bryan and husband, O.V., Marietta, Ga.; four grandsons, B.J. Smith and wife, Casey, Olathe, Ryan Smith and wife, Angela, Gardner, and Nathan and Jonathan Bryan, both of Marietta; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney Anne Smith, Gardner, and Noah Michael Smith, Olathe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dr. Richard M. Street.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Liberal with the Revs. David Bagwell and James Puckett presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorials to either the New York Firefighters-911 Disaster Relief Fund or New York Police Benevolent Association Relief Fund, both in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second Street, Liberal, KS 67901.

JUANITA J. DEALY

BURRTON -- Juanita Jean (Turner) Dealy, 84, Burrton, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson.

She was born May 17, 1917, to Maud (Fuest) Turner in Liberal.

She married John T. Dealy May 13, 1939, in Stafford. He died Jan. 31, 2000.

She had been a longtime resident of Burrton.

She graduated from Liberal High School in 1935, and she attended St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Hutchinson.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberal.

Survivors include two sons, John Paul Dealy, Anchorage, Alaska, and Michael T. Dealy, Halstead; two daughters, Patricia L. Wirch, Anchorage, and Susan A. Sutton, Burrton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Polyefko and Winfred Turner.

Private memorial services will be held at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal at a later date. Cremation has already taken place.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Reno County in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

KATHRYN R. SELLS

TOPEKA -- Kathryn Ruth "Kay" Bozarth Sells, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Memorial services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

WILLIAM C. LAMBERTH

MONTEZUMA -- William Calton Lamberth, 95, Montezuma, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.

He was born June 28, 1906, to Ralph and Lillian (Nelson) Lamberth in Hutchinson.

He married Edith Agnes Hiser Dec. 6, 1928, in Cimarron. She survives.

He and his wife had been residents of Montezuma for several years before moving to Washington and then to California in 1942. They moved back to Montezuma three years ago.

He was an electrician.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grand Coulee, Wash., for 55 years.

Other survivors include one daughter, Polly Allen, Campbell, Calif.; one sister, Maxine Vanek, Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Skip and Billy Lamberth; three brothers, Vernon, Ralph and Harold Lamberth; and two sisters, Vivian and Irene Lamberth.

Masonic graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma with the St. Bernard Masonic Lodge of Dodge City presiding.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home in Montezuma in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

WALTER O. HUEBNER

TURPIN, Okla. -- Walter O. Huebner, 68, Turpin, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

VELLA M. LEES

HOOKER, Okla. -- Vella M. Lees, 80, Hooker, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker with the Rev. Kim Domnick presiding.

Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker is in charge of arrangements.
