RONALD D. WILLIAMSON

SATANTA -- Ronald D. Williamson, 63, Satanta, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Dec. 18, 1937, to Francis H. P. "Dutch" and Agnes O. (Hickman) Williamson in Satanta.

He married Sondra J. Pulliam May 19, 1956, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

He had been a lifetime resident of Satanta.

He was a retired fieldman pumper for Panhandle Eastern Gas Co.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Satanta. He was also a member of NRA and AARP.

His hobbies included woodworking in his younger years, fishing, hunting and camping.

Other survivors include one son, Ricky D. Williamson and wife, Anna J., Abilene, Texas; one daughter, Vicki Williamson, Satanta; his mother, of Satanta; two brothers, Rodney P. Williamson and wife, Letha, Satanta, and Laurence D. Williamson and wife, Deborah, La Porte, Colo.; two grandchildren, Brent and Brandie Williamson; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 22, 1972.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Jeff Miller and the Pastor Ray Tweed presiding.

Burial will be at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials are suggested to either the Satanta Ambulance Fund or the Satanta Long Term Care Unit, both in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877. Memorials may also be left at the Shopping Stop True Value in Satanta.

SANTOS TORRES

ULYSSES -- Santos Torres, 83, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at his home in Ulysses.

He was born Dec. 21, 1917, to Bernave and Eudelia (Esparza) Torres in Encinal, Texas.

He married Josephine Nanez Jan. 26, 1966, in Hill Center, Texas. She survives.

He and his wife moved from Spur, Texas, to Ulysses in 1997.

He was a farm laborer.

Other survivors include three sons, Armando Torres and wife, Brenda, and Joe Torres and wife, Tina, all of Ulysses, and Santos Torres Jr., Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Maria Torres, Ulysses, and Juanita Ramirez and husband, Daniel, Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Dorateo Torres, Carrizo Springs, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Primera Asambleas De Dios Church in Ulysses with the Pastor Isaac Esparza presiding.

Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main, Ulysses, KS 67880.

DONALD M. PAXMAN

MCPHERSON -- Donald M. Paxman, 61, McPherson, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

He was born Jan. 30, 1940, to William Ralph and Bertha (Hargess) Paxman in Stafford.

He married Joan Donavan Jan. 30, 1959, in Tribune.

He attended Nickerson High School in Nickerson.

He was a resident of McPherson since 1997, having moved from Liberal.

He was a former body mechanic for Paul's Body Shop in Liberal.

He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in McPherson.

Survivors include his mother, Bertha (Paxman) Gossman, Hutchinson; two sons, Verbin Paxman and Rodney Paxman, both of McPherson; four daughters, Shawna Glazier, Tribune, Tonya Polart, Syracuse, Cheri Davidson and Michelle Blue, both of Michigan; seven brothers, Gregory Paxman, Houston, Dave Gossman, Jerry Gossman and Steve Gossman, all of Hutchinson, Benjamin Gossman, Wellington, Daniel Gossman, Rodgers, Ark., and Jim Gossman, Phoenix; two sisters, Ellen Ann (Paxman) Cranmer, Jamesport, Mo., and Jewette Raymond, Mesa, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson.

Graveside services will be at noon Thursday at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson with Chester L. Lowe presiding.

Burial will be at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid Street, McPherson, KS 67460.

RUBEN LONGORIA

Ruben Longoria, "The Burrito Man," 72, Liberal, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born March 1, 1929, to Enrique and Angela (Castania) Longoria in Mexico City, Mexico.

He married Marie de Los Angeles March 1, 1949, in Elsa, Texas. She survives.

He came to the United States in 1939, and later moved to Liberal in 1957.

He was a heavy equipment operator in railroad maintenance for the Rock Island Railroad. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal and the Union of Roadway Workers.

Other survivors include six sons, Ruben Longoria Jr., Mike Longoria and John Longoria, all of Wichita, Richard Longoria, Florida, George Longoria, Denver, and Frank Longoria, San Antonio; two daughters, Mary Quince, Edmonds, Wash., and Martha Smith, Liberal; one brother, Albert Longoria, Edinburg, Texas; two sisters, Maria Guzman, Edinburg, and Enriqueta Longoria, Floydada, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one daughter and one grandchild.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Chapel in Liberal.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with the Father Antonio Judge presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary.

ALBERT E. SMITH

ULYSSES -- The Rev. Albert Ernest Smith, 85, Salina, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born Nov. 6, 1916, to Arthur and Hattie Smith in Vine Creek.

He married Ruthe Hampton June 5, 1948. She died Aug. 6, 1982.

He married Dorothy Wilson July 13, 1983. She died Oct. 27, 1996.

He had been a resident of Salina since 1991, having moved there from Chase.

He grew up on a farm near Vine Creek and graduated from high school in Longford in 1935.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received five battle stars in the European theater.

After returning to Vine Creek in 1945, he moved to Ulysses to do carpentry work.

He had attended the Baptist church in Ulysses.

He received his pastoral education in Lexington, Ky. He served as pastor of several congregations,

beginning in 1950, mostly in the western half of Kansas.

Survivors include one son, Layne E. Smith and wife, Dianne, Hickory, N.C.; one daughter, Candyce Ann Kraft, whom he and his wife, Ruthe, adopted in 1964, and husband, Aaron, Utica; two brothers, Jack Smith and Lewis Smith; one sister, Reva Reed; and six grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Glen Smith, Earl Smith and Jay Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Celebration Baptist Church in Ulysses with Dr. Layne E. Smith presiding.

Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses. The family will be in the fellowship hall at 9 a.m. Saturday to greet friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Webster Conference Center in Salina in care of Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main Street, Ulysses, KS 67880.

WILBUR C. KOEHN

MONTEZUMA -- Wilbur Curtis Koehn, 83, Montezuma, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at his home in Montezuma.

He was born Feb. 12, 1918, to Jonathan J. and Fanny (Jantz) Koehn in Sitka.

He married Virginia Mae Dirks Sept. 27, 1942, in Montezuma. She died Jan. 2, 1988.

He married Irene Wiens Dec. 7, 1990, in Montezuma. She survives.

He spent his early childhood in Copeland and the Greensburg area.

He moved from De Ridder, La., to Montezuma in the winter of 1941.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.

Other survivors include two sons, Howard Koehn and wife, Londa, and James Koehn and wife, Sherlyn, all of Copeland; two daughters, Elaine Smith and husband, Jim, and Twila Smith, all of Montezuma; three sisters, Marjorie Dirks, Montezuma, Pearl Loucks, Protection, and Modesta Giesbrecht, Clarksdale, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Koehn, Leonard Koehn and Emerson Koehn; one sister, Bessie Koehn; and one son-in-law, Glen Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in Montezuma with the Minister Charles Schmidt presiding.

Burial will be at the North Mennonite Cemetery in Montezuma.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Memorials are suggested to either the Bethel Home Inc. or Gospel Tract Bible Society, both in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
