VICTOR O. HIDDE
HUTCHINSON -- Victor O. Hidde, 79, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson.
He was born April 20, 1922, to Oscar William and Myrtle (Learman) Hidde in New London, Wis.
He married Ione Cain Nov. 10, 1943, in Coffeyville. She survives.
He had been a resident of Hutchinson since 1989, having moved from Winfield.
He was a purchaser and transporter for Permian Oil Corp., retiring in 1988. He was also a floral delivery man for Don's Custom Floral.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the VFW.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Hidde, Hutchinson, and Rocky Hidde, Winfield; two daughters, Susan Scheck, Casper, Wyo., and Donna Williams, Bunker Hill; four brothers, Glen Hidde, Harold Hidde, Alfred Hidde and Mel Hidde, all of New London; three sisters, Dorothy Raper, Powderly, Texas, Alice Jonly, Weyauwega, Wis., and Hilda Fronczak, New London; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Hidde.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Southern Baptist Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Ray E. Kempel presiding.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend with military graveside rites conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery
in Great Bend.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.

HOWARD DEPUY
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -- Howard Depuy, 79, Scottsbluff, formerly of Hooker, Okla., died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff.
He was born Jan. 1, 1923, to Wilford and Harmony (Hammond) Depuy in Two Buttes, Colo.
He and his family moved to Hooker in August 1928 when he was 5 years old.
He helped his dad farm and attended school in Adams, Okla., and graduated from Adams High School in 1943.
In September 1944, he entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a Private First Class and a member of Troop H, Fifth Calvary.
He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Japan Victory Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
He received his honorable discharge Nov. 25, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston in Houston.
After returning to Oklahoma, he farmed until 1956, when he worked for eight months at a mine in Climax, Colo.
He worked in service stations in Oklahoma and oil field construction. In 1960, he moved to Scottsbluff, where he worked for Panhandle Co-op in tire service and repair. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include one sister, Edith Wiggains, Hooker, Okla.; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Depuy, Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Depuy.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 p.m. Friday at the Hooker Cemetery
in Hooker with Neville Buchanan presiding.
Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker is in charge of arrangements.
PAUL B. HORST
HUGOTON -- Paul B. Horst, 89, Hugoton, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
LAVERN ELY
FOWLER -- LaVern Ely, 77, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola.
She was born May 31, 1924, to Henry and Marie (Mettscher) Strobel in Hudson.
She married Eugene Ely Dec. 27, 1941, in Hugoton. He survives.
She had been a resident of the Fowler area since 1947.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion, all in Fowler.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonna Nichols and husband, Gary, Booker, Texas; one brother, Orville Strobel and wife, Marilyn, Eva, Okla.; one sister, Shirley Burros and husband, Homer, Bellview, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Dean Ely on Feb. 7, 1988; and one sister, Wilma Lindeman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Fowler with the Revs. Roland L. Wolfe and
Juanita Catlin presiding.
Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

LORINDA K. FRIESEN
INGALLS -- Lorinda Kay Friesen, 20, Ingalls, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita as a result of an automobile accident.
She was born Dec. 14, 1981, to Harley G. and Karen L. (Jantz) Friesen in Dodge City.
She had been a lifetime resident of Dodge City.
She was employed at Karl's Super Foods in Montezuma.
She was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in rural Ingalls.
Her hobbies included being outdoors, her pets, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her parents, rural Ingalls; one brother, Andrew Friesen, rural Ingalls; grandmothers, Dorothy Jantz, Montezuma, and Margaret Friesen, Inman; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jacob A. and Lizzie Jantz; and grandfather, Pete G. Friesen.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Living Hope Mennonite Church in rural Ingalls with the Ministers Stan Smith, James Koehn and Charles Schmidt presiding.
Burial will be at Living Hope Cemetery
in rural Ingalls.

CHARLES E. RAVEN
Charles E. Raven, 50, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at his home in Liberal.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
DONETTA S. DICKEY
MEADE -- Donetta Sue Dickey, 54, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Minneola Nursing Home in Minneola.
She was born May 21, 1947, to Clarence Robert and Ida Mae Fern (Wagoner) Dickey in Dodge City.
She had been a resident of Wichita before recently moving to Minneola.
She was employed as an order clerk at Lawyers Title Company in Wichita.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Meade.
Survivors include her mother, of Meade.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Meade with the Rev. Chuck Mattix presiding.
Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

PAUL B. HORST
HUGOTON -- Paul B. Horst, 89, Hugoton, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born Jan. 20, 1913, to Charles F. and Grace J. (Hogan) Horst in Madison.
He married Jewell O. Hill June 11, 1938, in Salina. She survives.
He graduated from Peabody High School in Peabody in 1931 and had attended Emporia State Teacher's College.
He worked in the oil business for 39 years, beginning as a roustabout in Russell. He worked as a production supervisor for Gulf Oil for one year before joining Republic Natural Gas Co., which later was bought by Mobil Oil.
While in the oil business, he lived in Ellinwood, Sylvia, Anthony, Carmi, Ill., Pauls Valley, Okla., and Hugoton, where he retired in 1978.
He served on the advisory committee and was third and fourth vice-president and secretary-treasurer for the
American Petroleum Institute Division of Production for many years.
He was a member of the Hugoton United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge No. 1947 in Liberal, Masonic Lodge No. 406 for 60 years, Order of Eastern Star for 58 years in Hugoton, Consistory, Isis Shrine, Southwest Shrine Club and the Hugoton County Club Men's Golf.
Other survivors in include three daughters, Sharon Riedel and husband, Jim, Eagle Rock, Mo., Janice Cutter and husband, Dave, and Barbara Morris and husband, Steve, all of Hugoton; two brothers, Fred Horst and wife, Marilyn, Joplin, Mo., and Lee Horst and wife, Henrietta, Newton; seven grandchildren, Doug Riedel and wife, Shonya, Julie Riedel, Stephanie Heger and husband, Chris, Susan Mikolajczak and husband, Michael, Jennifer Beesley and husband, Walt, Debra Cutter and Sara Beth Tasset and husband, Phil; and 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew Riedel, Alexander Riedel, Jeffrey Cutter, Britta Beesley, Jenna Beesley, Ryan Mikolajczak, Christian Heger, Katy Heger, Gavin Heger, and Savannah Tasset.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Horst.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hugoton United Methodist Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Nel Holmes and Jeff Aenk presiding.
Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time at the Hugoton United Methodist Church.
