PAUL B. HEYMAN
ULYSSES -- Paul B. Heyman, 89, Ulysses, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence.
He was born May 19, 1912, to Paul B. and Anna (Radtke) Heyman Sr. near Walthall, Va.
He married Pauline M. Dougan Aug. 12, 1934, at her parent's farm south of Ulysses. She died Aug. 24, 2001.
He had been a longtime resident of Ulysses.
He taught school in Richfield, Satanta and Ulysses.
He began farming in Grant County, and was a real estate broker and owned and operated Heyman Agency in Ulysses.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 435 A.F. and A.M., Ulysses; York Rite Masonry Garden City Chapter No. 83 and Commandery No. 50; the Order of Eastern Star, Ulysses; and was a past Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Kansas.
He was a member and past president of Ulysses Rotary Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Josandra "Jo" Barnes and husband, Bill, Lawrence, and Pam Loucks and husband, Harv, LaHonda, Calif.; one sister, Olga Smith, Elkhart; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Heyman.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Dr. Max Clayton presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
NORMA HORNER
ULYSSES -- Norma "Darlene" Horner, 70, Ulysses, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City as a result of an automobile accident near Dodge City.
She was born May 8, 1931, to John Victor and Berniece (Brewer) Carter in rural Ulysses.
She married Ellsworth Elmer Horner. He died in 1982.
She had lived most of her life in the Ulysses area.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included cooking and ordering from the catalog.
Survivors include her mother, Ulysses; two grandsons, Dickie Horner and wife, Rebecca, Hugoton, and Tony Shivers and wife, Mary, Colorado; three granddaughters, Tammy Konig and husband, Chris, and Cindy Scott and husband, Tim, all of Kersey, Colo., and Lisa Dianda, Texas; three step-sons, Marlin Horner and wife, Joan, Kersey, Lanny Horner, Fort Collins, Colo., and Byron Horner, Colorado; two sisters, Elaine Gierhart, Colby, and Betty Walls and husband, Charles, Ulysses; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by her father; two sons, Casimiro "Bill" Dianda and Robert "Bob" Dianda; one daughter, Mariena Lyn Horner; and one brother, Marvin Dean Carter.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. (MST) Friday at Fleming Cemetery
in Fleming, Colo.
Friends may call until 4 p.m. today at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.
EDWARD P. FULLER JR.
NARA VISI, N.M. -- Edward Phillip Fuller Jr., 73, died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Wichita.
He was born May 7, 1928, in Gray, Okla.
He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and retired in 1969.
Following retirement, he worked on cattle ranches, drove trucks and managed several truck stops in New Mexico.
He was a member of the Beaver Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his mother, Abigail Burns, Turpin, Okla.; three sons, Edward Phillip Fuller III and wife, Sally, Turpin, Benfer Powell Fuller, Evansville, Ind., and William Joseph Fuller and wife, Kathy, Carrollton, Texas; two daughters, Deborah Nation and husband, Gary, Odessa, Texas, and Rieandra Seibert-Scott and husband, Jay, Garden City; one step-son, Jack Henley, Las Cruces, N.M.; one step-daughter, Tina Mumau, Las Cruces; one brother, John William Fuller, Cushing, Okla.; four sisters, Natalie Phelps, Colorado Springs, Colo., Clora Means, Balko, Okla., Clara Cowan, Sedan, N.M., and Dee Smotherman, Turpin; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Phillip Fuller; one daughter, Rebecca Lee Fuller; and one step-son, Bill Shupe.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Boxwell Brothers Chapel in Perryton, Texas, with the Rev. L.R. Haisten presiding.
Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery
in rural Beaver County, Okla.

DUANE C. MILLSAP
SYRACUSE -- Duane C. Millsap, 78, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his home in Syracuse.
He was born Nov. 19, 1923, to David and Frances (Rogers) Millsap in Syracuse.
He married Rosemary Urton June 8, 1946, in Syracuse. She survives.
He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1941 and was a member of the undefeated high school football team.
He attended Colorado A & M in Fort Collins, Colo.
He was a cattleman, irrigation farmer, and was the owner and operator of a dairy in the 1960s on the Arkansas River Valley until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Syracuse. He sang in the church choir and attended the Men's Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday mornings.
He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge (IOOF).
His hobbies included welding brass sculptures, as well as many other crafts, and playing bass guitar with Billy and Loretta Whitefield.
Other survivors include one son, Cal Duane Millsap and wife, Colleen, Liberal; one daughter, Jan Munyon, Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Jeff Burch, Hays, Tyconda Millsap and Callie Millsap, both of Liberal; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Millsap Manning.
Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) April 12, 2002, at the cemetery in Syracuse.

JOHN W. LAIRD
ULYSSES John Walter Laird, 88, Ulysses, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Aug. 16, 1913, to Frank Walter and Leah Evah (Hayse) Laird in Haviland.
He married Vada Viola Vick June 3, 1935, in Meade. She died Sept. 26, 2001.
He and his wife moved to Ulysses Oct. 24, 1949, from Liberal.
He was retired from Mesa Petroleum Co. Hugoton Production, as a general superintendent.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
He was also a member of the Lions Club in Ulysses and the Masonic Lodge in Hugoton. He was past president of the Western Prairie Care Home Board, and past Grant County School Board member.
Survivors include four daughters, Roberta Garrett and husband, C.L., Liberal, Betty Jo Reeves and husband, Bob, Loveland, Colo., Sue Patten and husband, Joe, Midland, Texas, and Jane Hewson and husband, Paul, Garden City; two sisters, Esther Woods, Stinett, Texas, and Vesta Pinkerton, Pineville, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Walter Laird; one brother, Francis Claude Laird; and one sister, Geneva Belle Thorpe.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Dr. Max Clayton and the Minister Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

KENNETH E. WATSON
KANSAS CITY Kenneth Eugene Watson, 77, Kansas City, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Kansas University Medical Center.
He was born June 14, 1924, to Frank and Mary (Schmolzi) Watson in Kansas City, Mo.
He moved with his family to a farm near McLouth and Oskaloosa, where he graduated in 1942 from Oskaloosa High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army, but was discharged for poor eyesight.
He was employed as a cabinet maker before becoming a welder and inspector for the General Motors Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, where he worked for 26.5 years.
After retiring, he took instruction and became an expert chair caner for 10 years.
He was a scoutmaster for several troops for 11 years, including the troop at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Pat, of the home; two sons, Charles F. Watson, Liberal, and the Rev. David E. Watson, Fort Scott; one daughter, Carol L. Watson, Kansas City; one brother, William L. Watson, Meriden; three sisters, Esther Pugh and Mary Irwin, both of Topeka, and Virginia Vibbert, Kernersville, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Holly Watson and Jordan Watson, both of Fort Scott.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., in Kansas City.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Porter Funeral Home.
