BOB ANDERSON

WICHITA -- Bob Anderson, 58, a former Liberal resident, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at his home in Wichita.

He was born Dec. 12, 1943, to Charles and Mary F. (Gechter) Anderson in Wichita.

He moved to Liberal in 1953. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1962. He attended Pratt Community College for one year.

He was employed by Beech Aircraft in Liberal, now Raython, in 1964, and transferred to Wichita in 1985, as a process analyst. He worked for the company for 38 years.

His hobbies included working on and restoring cars and collecting railroad memorabilia.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Urwin of Liberal; one son, Kelby Anderson, Maize; one daughter, Josie Evans, Turpin, Okla.; one step-daughter, Shanea Talley, Liberal; two brothers, Rodney Urwin, Liberal, and Carl Urwin, Shelby Township, Mich.; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Talley, Tailer Foster and Triniti Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father; step-father; and one niece, Stephanie Urwin.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Dianne Izquietdo presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

Memorials services in Wichita will be announced later.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the American Lung Association in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67901.

EVELYN N. LIMON

SATANTA -- Evelyn Nadine Limon, 55, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at her home in Satanta.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

BEVERLY V. STOTESBERY

HUGOTON -- Beverly Violet Stotesbery, 59, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Nov. 7, 1942, to James and Violet (Belfoure) Kohler in Minneapolis, Minn.

She married George E. Stotesbery May 26, 1976, in Minneapolis. He survives.

She had been a resident of Hugoton since 1989.

She was the owner of Communication Systems Service in Hugoton.

She was a member of the Lady Knights in Minneapolis. She rode Tennessee walking horses for the Minnesota State Fair and Birch Lane Farms.

Other survivors include one son, Allen LeRoy Stotesbery, Brazoria, Texas; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Stoner, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jacquelin Jean Baskin Robinson, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one sister, Linda Claiborne, Layfayett, La.; and four grandchildren, Timothy Allen Stotesbery and Curtis Campbell, both of Hugoton, and Melissa Stoner and Ashley Stoner, both of Grand Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roland James Kohler.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Eric Mason presiding.

Scattering of ashes will be at a later date at Lake Superior, Minn.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

The family suggests memorials to the St. Catherine Hospital Cancer Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.

PAUL L. BURTON

FOWLER -- Paul Leroy Burton, 84, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Meade District Hospital in Meade.

He was born Feb. 24, 1918, to William W. and Mary (Riley) Burton in Fowler.

He married Gladys M. Woodcock June 30, 1939, in Owosso, Mich. She survives.

He had been a lifetime resident of Fowler. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Meade.

Other survivors include one son, Edwin Burton, Fowler; three daughters, Janice Babcock, Uvalde, Texas, Betty Baulet, Humble, Texas, and Ellen Warford, Kendallville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, William A. Burton; one brother, Ernest Burton; a foster brother, Claude Harrington; and one sister, Ruth Miller.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fowler Cemetery in Fowler with the Rev. Tom Cahill presiding.

Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery.

Friends may call until 7 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene Youth Group in care of the Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 600, Meade, KS 67864, or in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, P.O. Box 70, 212 S. Fowler St., Meade, KS 67864.

GLEN H. THOMAS

ROGERS, Ark. -- Glen Hendrix Thomas, 95, Broomfield, Colo., died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Colorado.

He was born Sept. 24, 1906, to Harry W. and Eleanor (English) Thomas in Bailey, Texas.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lowell, Ark.

He lived in Lowell for 80 years and then moved to Liberal before moving to Broomfield, Colo.

Survivors include two step-daughters, both of Lowell; one brother, Doyle Thomas, Fallen, Nev.; one sister, Helen C. Wadley, Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Thomas; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Atherton.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. April 30 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Rogers with the Pastor Robert Bennett presiding.

Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers was in charge of arrangements.

RUBY M. ARNOLD

Johnson -- Ruby May Arnold, 97, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson.

She was born Oct. 30, 1904, to Samuel L. and Mattie (Shively) Long in Kingfisher County, Okla.

She married Glen Y. Arnold March 16, 1930, in Beaver County, Okla. He died April 23, 1993.

She had been a resident of Johnson since 1930. She was a former resident of Beaver County.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Mother's Club, and was a former 4-H leader and charter member of the Stanton County Extension Unit.

Her hobbies included gardening and china painting. She was a seamstress.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Arnold and Earl Arnold, both of Johnson; one daughter, Pearl Hershberger, Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Roy Long, Anderson, Ind.; one sister, Hattie Abbott, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Long, and a twin sister, Ruth Swart.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson with the Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding.

Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to either the First United Methodist Church or the Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS 67855.

DIXIE D. HOOPER

La Veta, Colo. -- Dixie D. Hooper, 71, La Veta, died Thursday, May 23, 2002.

Her hobbies included taking care of plants and wildflowers.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis "Bud" Hooper; two sons, Skip Hooper and wife, Barb, Toronto, Canada, and Mike Hooper, Winfield; one daughter, Pam Hessman and husband, Rick, Liberal; one brother, Dean Carson, Pampa, Texas; two sisters, Donna McCormack and Kathy McKenney, both of Gillette, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jodi, Katie, Honey, Mica, Haddie and Mitch; two great-granddaughter, Kylee and Haylea; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Baptist Church in La Veta.

Burial will be at La Veta Cemetery in La Veta.

Boies-Ortega Funeral Home in Walsenburg, Colo., is in charge of arrangements.

JO A. LEFFINGWELL

ELKHART -- Jo A. Leffingwell, 56, Elkhart, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

She was born AUg. 10, 1945, to Vincent and Lois (Bast) Sandman in Columbus, Neb.

She married Richard Leffingwell Sept. 25, 1965 in Lakin. He survives.

She owned and managed DJ's Floral with her husband, and she had managed the Prairie View Manor Apartments.

She was a member of the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, the Point Rock Golf Club, and had served on the board of the Morton County Housing Authority.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Elkhart.

Her hobbies include working with crafts and scrapbooks, and her bridge club.

Other survivors include her mother, Grand Island, Neb.; two sons, Trevor Lee Leffingwell, Elkhart, and Thad R. Leffingwell, Stillwater, Okla.; one brother, Mike Sandman, Grand Island; five sisters, Barbara Teichmeier, Mary Teichmeier, and Donna Trevino, all of Grand Island, Shari Armstrong, Brush, Colo., and Pat Hughes, Layton, Utah; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God in Elkhart with the Rev. Ron Crosley presiding.

Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Harrell Funeral Home, 514 Kansas Ave., Elkhart, KS 67950.
