DOROTHY J. RANDALL
Dorothy J. Randall, 82, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born May 20, 1920, to Lawrence and Winnie (White) Wallace at her grandparent's homestead 13 miles south of Springfield, Colo.
She married Melvin Randall Jan. 13, 1940. He preceded her in death.
She was a 1937 graduate of Springfield High School. She attended Panhandle State University for one semester.
She later received her teaching certificate and taught at country school for two years.
In 1959, she attended Wichita School of Business and moved to Liberal, where she worked for Grover Bryan, attorney at law. She retired in 1991 after working for 31.5 years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Randall, Riverside, Calif., and Douglas Randall and wife, Susan, Liberal; two daughters, Sharlea Wren and husband, LeRoy, and Doretta Delay and husband, Guy, all of Liberal; two brothers, Oran Ray Wallace, Aurora, Colo., and Linnis Wallace, Springfield; three sisters, Bessie Siedl, Wichita, and Annetta Keithley and Donis Steinbrueck, both of Springfield; 12 grandchildren, L.D. Wren, Darren Wren, Tony Randall, Eugene Randall Jr., Carol Randall, Jana Pollard, Cynthia Ramon, Natalie Brack, Leigh Wines, Shana Farrow, Jessica Delay and Catlin Delay; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lester Wallace, Alvin Wallace and Owen Wallace; three sisters, Ruby Bell Wallace, Lucille Shaw and Virginia Cloud; and one grandson, Shayne Wren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. (Central Standard Time) Friday at the Church of Christ in Liberal with Ron Suiter presiding.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Springfield Cemetery
in Springfield.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

LUCILLE FRIESEN
MONTEZUMA -- Lucille (Dirks) Friesen, 82, Montezuma, formerly of Atwater, Calif., died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
She was born May 5, 1920, to Gerhard and Carrie (Unruh) Dirks in Halstead.
She married Arthur S. Friesen Oct. 29, 1947, in Greensburg. He survives.
She grew up in the Greensburg community. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Dodge City for a short time and then to Atwater, where they lived until 1994.
She had been a resident of Bethel Home Inc. since June 6, 1994.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church Of God In Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.
Other survivors include three daughters, Andree Litwiller and husband, Virgil, Farmington, Ky., Barbara Nightingale and husband, Mark, and Cynthia Koehn and husband, Stanley, all of Scott City; two brothers, Willard Dirks and wife, Aimee, Greensburg, Gerhard Dirks Jr. and wife, Gloria, Carson City, Mich.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Allen Dirks, Lincoln Dirks and John Dirks; and three sisters, Ida Koehn, Viola Koehn and Edna Wedel Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Greensburg with the Ministers Kalvin Salsbury, Mark Dirks and Gery Dirks presiding.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery
in Greensburg.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

TAMIE R. DAVIS
TOPEKA -- Tamie R. Davis, 43, Topeka, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born May 8, 1959, to Jim and Jean (Robbins) Davis in Dodge City.
She worked in the lodging industry.
She had been a long-time Liberal resident.
Survivors include her parents, of Forsyth, Mo.; one son, Brandon Bruner, Wyoming; and two brothers, Mark Davis, Castle Rock, Colo., and Mike Davis, Wichita.
Cremation is planned.
Private funeral services will take place.
LLOYD N. ANDERSON
DARROUZETT, Texas -- Lloyd Nelms Anderson, 66, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Ochiltree General Hospice in Perryton, Texas.
He had been a lifetime resident of Beaver County, Okla.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was past commander of both the Beaver, Okla., American Legion Post No. 149 and Darrouzett American Legion Post No. 635.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Darrouzett; two sons, Rodney Anderson, Logan, Okla., and Roy Anderson, Woodward, Okla.; one daughter, Regina Wesley, Canyon, Texas; one sister, Barbara Joheen Wicken, Guymon, Okla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Darrouzett First Baptist Church in Darrouzett with Gary McDonald presiding and Bill Griffin assisting.
Military graveside services will be at Sophia Cemetery
in Logan with the Beaver American Legion Post No. 149 and Darrouzett Post No. 635.
Clark Funeral Service in Beaver is in charge of arrangements.
LEWIS L. KOEHN
MONTEZUMA -- Lewis L. Koehn, 83, Montezuma, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.
TYSON V. SLATTEN
PLAINVILLE -- Tyson V. Slatten, 24, Plainville, formerly of Forgan, Okla., died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Plainville of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Sept. 20, 1977, to Jake and Lesa (Oyler) Slatten in Liberal.
He married Abbie Walston in 1997 in Perryton, Texas.
He graduated from Forgan High School in 1995.
He had worked in the oil field for several years. He moved to Plainville and was working as a maintenance person at a feed yard.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Forgan.
Survivors include two daughters, Camryn Slatten and Reyn Slatten, both of Bucklin; his parents, of Forgan; one sister, Hanna Slatten, Forgan; grandparents, Jack and Jackie Bob Slatten, Turpin, Okla., and Kathleen Oyler, Forgan; great-grandparents, Myrle Oyler and C.C. Elliott, both of Forgan; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Verl Oyler.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Forgan with Larry Hodges presiding.
Burial will be at Forgan Cemetery
in Forgan.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary in Liberal. The casket will not be open at the church.

FRED H. BAKER JR.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fred Hansen "Cookie" Baker Jr., 54, Kansas City, formerly of Hugoton, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
He was the son of Fred Sr. and Georgia (Arnold) Baker.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Baker, Hollywood, Calif., Fred H. Baker III, Olathe and Lucas Baker, Kansas City; two sisters, Carol McCauley, Kansas City, and Linda Groves, Olathe; one grandson, A.J. Baker, Hollywood; one nephew, Joseph Washington, Olathe; and two nieces, Kimberly Workcuff, Kansas City, and Khadija Washington, Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services were today at Vista Baptist Church in Olathe.
He will be cremated and burial of his remains will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton at a later date.

BETTY J. SPURGEON
Betty Jo Spurgeon, 50, Liberal, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at St. Anthony Baptist Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born Sept. 15, 1951, to Ray W. and Sarah J. (Jones) Lightcap in LaJunta, Colo.
She married Bob Spurgeon Jan. 27, 1970, in Fort Scott. He survives.
She graduated from the Las Animas High School in Las Animas, Colo.
She moved to Liberal in 1982 from Olney Springs, Colo.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included baking, sewing, reading and spending time outside.
Survivors also include three sons, Cody Spurgeon and wife, Candy, Turpin, Okla., Rowdy Spurgeon and wife, Misty, Laverne, Okla., and Glen Shelton, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Jennifer Leiker and husband, Scot, Tyrone, Okla., and Mary Jenkins and husband, Tom, Ioka, Utah; two brothers, Richard Lightcap and wife, Linda, Las Animas, Colo., and Clifford Lightcap and wife, Carlene, Garden City; one sister, Dorothy Spurgeon and husband, Bud, Hasty, Colo.; and 13 grandchildren.
Se was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bill Lightcap; one nephew, Shawn Spurgeon; and one grandson, Levi Leiker.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal, with the Rev. Chad Rhoades presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
