DOUGLAS E. DALE
ULYSSES -- Douglas Eugene Dale, 70, rural Ulysses, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita as the result of an explosion.
He was born Aug. 27, 1931, to Claude and Leah (Fraser) Dale in Lakin on his family's farm.
He married Barbara Lee Willan Dec. 27, 1953, in Medicine Lodge. She died May 11, 1998.
He married Grace Burns April 29, 2000, in Branson, Mo. She survives.
He attended schools in Lakin and Kendall.
He served in the U.S. Air force. After his discharge from service, he moved to Alberta, Canada, for 15 years. He then moved to Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada, for four years.
In 1972, he moved back to rural Ulysses, where he had been a resident until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Mercy Grace and Truth Church in Ulysses.
He was also a member of the Charles B. Hart Post No. 79 and the Full Gospel Business Men's Association, both of Ulysses.
His hobbies included working with steel, traveling, fishing and golfing.
Other survivors include his step-mother, Kathryne Dale, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Jas Dale and wife, Gail, rural Ulysses; one step-daughter, Venita Geschwendt and husband, Rick, Champion, Alberta; two step-sons, Brian Sangster-Kelly and wife, Enid, Parksville, British Columbia, and Cameron Sangster, Taber, Alberta; one brother, Emery Dale and wife, Marge, Las Vegas; one step-brother, Jack Dale, Sheridan, Wyo.; one step-sister, Karen Murr, Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, Alicia Dale and Rebecca Dale; seven step-grandchildren, Rebecca, Josiah, Jessica, Meghan, Brittany, Cole and Jarred; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Matt Dale and Lance Dale.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Moscow with the Revs. Bill Ripley and Kenneth Lampp presiding.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Charles B. Hart Post No. 70 of Ulysses at Moscow Cemetery
in Moscow.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

PAUL HARRISON WHITE
PIERCEVILLE -- Paul Harrison White, 64, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at St. Catherines Hospital in Garden City.
He was born July 6, 1937, to John R. and Verna A. (Huddle) White in Cedar Vale.
He served his country in the United States Marines.
He moved from Winfield to Pierceville in 1966.
He worked as a manager for the Pierceville Co-op Elevator for 20 years before retiring.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa White, Copeland; one brother, Harold White of Florida; one sister, Kay Yockey and husband, Don, Seattle, Wash.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, with the Rev. Charles Wagner presiding.
Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette is in charge of arrangements.
MARY LEE BREWER
ULYSSES -- Mary Lee Brewer, 96, died Sunday, June 8, 2002, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Sept. 28, 1905, to Sam and Lou (Clark) Robison in Jay, Okla.
She married Eual Paul Brewer May 21, 1926, in Pineville, Mo. He died in 1991.
She graduated from high school in Southwest City, Mo.
She had been a resident of Grant County since 1926.
She was a homemaker.
She was a longtime member of the Moscow United Methodist Church in Moscow. She was a member of Moscow United Methodist Women. She then became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
She was also a member of the SEG Club, the Cimarron Grange, the 4-H Council of Ulysses, Grant County EHU and the Moscow Birthday Club.
Her hobbies included quilting, tatting, crocheting, embroidery, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Max Ellis Brewer, Colby, and Ralph Wesley Brewer and Gary Eugene Brewer, both of Moscow; one daughter, Eula Pauline Boylan, Ulysses; one sister-in-law, Bernice Carter; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. David Burnett presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
The family suggests memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

HUGOTON -- Lucas Miles Farmer, 1, Rolla, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.

ASHLAND -- Maida DeNio, 88, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Ashland Health Center Long Term Care Unit in Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Ashland.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery
in Ashland.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Myatt Funeral Home in Ashland.
CALVIN GRAVES
CHILDRESS, Texas -- Calvin Graves, 89, Childress, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Borger, Texas.
He was born Sept. 21, 1912, to Robert Houston and Laversia (Alexander) Graves in Talpa, Texas.
He was an aircraft mechanic for the military.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and Air Corps.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Birdsong, Fritch, Texas, formerly of Liberal; eight nephews; eight nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chesley Graves and Lee Graves; and two sisters, Thellma Moore and Anna Mae Graves, who died March 7, 2002.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church in Childress with the Pastor Clyde Fulfer and the Rev. David Nuckels presiding.
Burial was at Childress Cemetery
in Childress.

LUCAS M. FARMER
HUGOTON Lucas Miles Farmer, 1, Rolla, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born June 8, 2001, to John and Elsa Farmer in Ulysses.
Survivors include his parents of Rolla; one step-brother, Arturo Jimenez, Rolla; three step-sisters, Melanie Farmer and Kelli Farmer, both of Hugoton, and Airon Koehn, Ulysses; grandparents, Don and Ruth Farmer, Hugoton, Sara Del Carmen, Mexico, and Charles and Sylvia Hinklin, Cotopaxi, Colo.; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.

MAIDA F. DENIO
ASHLAND Maida Fern DeNio, 88, formerly of Liberal, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Ashland Health Center's Long Term Care Unit in Ashland.
She was born March 3, 1914, to Austin Wesley and Sarah Fanny (Morris) Fellers in Mullinville.
She married Homer "Dee" DeNio in 1950 in San Pedro, Calif. He preceded her in death.
She was raised in the Mullinville area and attended Mullinville schools. She graduated in 1931. She attended Wichita Business College.
She had worked as a bookkeeper in Wichita for many years before moving to California, where she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Ponti family.
After her husband's death, she moved to Liberal. In September 2000, she moved to Ashland.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ashland.
Her hobbies included traveling and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include one step-son, Keith DeNio, Roswell, N.M.; one step-daughter, Wanda Weekly, Las Vegas; two nephews, John Thomas Fellers and Robert A. Fellers, both of Ashland; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Francis Austin "Jack" Fellers on March 20, 2001; one sister, Helen Ruth Green on Sept. 7, 1987; and one niece, Connie Claire Davis on May 31, 2000.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Ashland with the Rev. Don Hasty presiding.
Burial was at Highland Cemetery
in Ashland.
