MARJORIE F. SCOTT
ELKHART -- Marjorie Fern Scott, 79, of Elkhart, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Via Christi/St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born Jan. 29, 1923, to William and Jane (Means) Beck in Satanta.
She married Max Niel Scott Dec. 24, 1945, in Garden City. He survives.
She had been a resident of Elkhart since 1977, and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of HDU in Flagler, Colo., and had worked as an Amway dealer in Elkhart.
Other survivors include four sons, Bill Scott, Colorado Springs, Colo., Tom Scott and Ron Scott, both of Elkhart; and Dave Scott, Hereford, Texas; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by herparents; one brother, Verlin Sewell; one daughter, Theresa Munkres; and one son-in-law, Clay Metcalf.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. today at First Church of God in Elkhart with the Rev. Ron Crosley presiding.
Burial followed at the Satanta Cemetery
in Satanta.
Memorials are suggested to the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

TERRY J. BOLLING
HARPER -- Terry J. Bolling, 82, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 27, 1919, to Terry T. and Golda D. (Westerfield) Bolling in Tyrone, Okla.
He married Wilma Dell Dec. 16, 1940, in Hugoton. She died April 27, 1987.
He was a retired electrician.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees.
He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Wichita and American Legion and VFW Post No. 11449, both in Harper. He formed the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Harper.
Survivors include one sister, Roberta Hubbard, Liberal; one nephew; one niece; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; eight great-great-nieces; and three great-great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Funeral Home in Harper with the Pastor Jerrold Schribner presiding.
Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Tyrone Cemetery
in Tyrone.
Memorials are suggested to VFW Ladies Auxiliary in care of Elliott Funeral Home, 1406 Ash, Harper, 67058.
JESUS E. RUIZ
Jesus E. Ruiz, 45, Liberal, died Friday, July 12, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Aug. 29, 1956, to Mercedes and Cleofas (Quezada) Maquez in Pervenir Del Campesino, Chihuahua, Mexico.
She married Juan Ramon Ruiz June 1, 1975, in Mexico. He survives.
She moved to Liberal in 1996, and she had worked for Southlawn Elementary School the last six years.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include two sons, Juan Diego Ruiz and Felipe Juan Ruiz, both of Liberal; one daughter, Maria Guadalupe Ruiz, Liberal; four sisters, Ramona Castillo, Isolina Varela, Josefa Garsia and Ana Barragan, all of Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
A Rosary was conducted Sunday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with the Father Patrick Keyes presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call at St. Anthony Catholic Church, First and Prospect, until Mass today.
CLIFFORD P. SCHMIDT
CIMARRON -- Clifford P. Schmidt, 91, Montezuma, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
He was born June 11, 1911, to Pete and Lena (Koehn) Schmidt in Marion County.
He married Dessie Kehn Oct. 29, 1939, in Montezuma. She died June 21, 1974.
He was a farmer and farm laborer.
He was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in Cimarron.
Survivors include four sons, Vernon Schmidt and wife, Linda, Buena Vista, Colo., Clayton Schmidt and wife, Levina, Montezuma, Wilford Schmidt and wife, Aneda, Cimarron, and Manford Schmidt and wife, Diana, Balko, Okla.; three daughters, Berdena Stephans, Wichita, Ann Bolton, West Memphis, Ark., and Mary Koehn and husband, Jerald, Scooba, Miss.; one brother, Otis Schmidt and wife, Elizabeth, Moundridge; one sister, LaVivian Unruh and husband, Orville, Moundridge; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Margie May Schmidt; one grandson, Christopher Jones; four brothers, Ed Schmidt, Alfred Schmidt, Sam Schmidt and Lewis Schmidt; and two sisters, Mabel Schmidt and Caroline Unruh.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cimarron Mennonite Church in Cimarron with the Ministers Wilbur Koehn, Vernon Giesbrecht and Curt Ensz presiding.
Burial will be at North Mennonite Cemetery
in Montezuma.
Friends may call from until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cimarron Mennonite Church.

CHARLES E. LETT
FOWLER -- Charles E. "Buss" Lett, 89, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Fowler Nursing Home in Fowler.
He was born April 13, 1913 to George C. and Nellie (Williams) Lett in Wheatland, Ind.
He married Esther Ford Aug. 21, 1939, in Meade. She survives.
He graduated from Fowler High School in 1932 and from Emporia State College in 1940.
He served for many years on the Fowler School Board and the Fowler Equity Exchange Board.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the IOOF Lodge, both in Fowler.
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Van Lett, Dodge City, and Karen Lynde, Weatherford, Okla.; and several sisters and brothers-in-law, including Mae Lett, Fowler.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Lett on May 2, 1966.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fowler United Methodist Church in Fowler with the Rev. Rolland Wolfe presiding.
Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler.

FRANCES P. CLARK
FOWLER -- Frances Pauline Clark, 97, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Mission Viejo, Calif.
She was born Jan. 29, 1905, to Stephen Andrew and Anna Barbara (Drewicke) Wenta in Fowler.
She married Marion Clinton Clark Aug. 25, 1922 in Greensburg. He died April 3, 1972.
She was a former resident of Fowler, having moved to California several years ago.
She was a retired aircraft parts inspector.
Survivors include one son, James M. Clark, Buena Park, Calif.; one daughter, Irene C. Love, Laguna Hills, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ted Clark.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler with the Pastor Alan Snyder presiding.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.
SIDNEY A. THOMAS
HUGOTON -- Sidney Adelbert "Sid" Thomas, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born May 6, 1916, to Frank Ulysses and Mary Esda (Boughton) Thomas in Pratt.
He married Emmagene Heger Aug. 27, 1939, in Syracuse. She survives.
He had been a resident of Stevens County for most of his life.
He was educated through the eighth grade in Grand Valley, Colo. He retook eighth grade at Pleasant Valley Country School in Seward County.
He was a farmer and rancher.
He was a former member of Zion Methodist Church in Stevens County. He attended Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton.
Other survivors include two daughters, Romona Adams and husband, Forrest, and Connie Thomas, all of Hugoton; one brother, Frank Thomas, Hugoton; two sisters, Lois Rodewoldt, Stockbridge, Ga., and Mary Fleming, Henryetta, Okla.; four grandchildren, Janna Nolt and husband, Dr. Bryan Nolt, Kansas City, Mo., Jeanine Olivas and husband, Alfonso Olivas, Dallas, Michael Brewer and wife, Jennifer Brewer, Wichita, and Trista Thomas, Hugoton; and one great-grandson, Ian Olivas, Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell James and Claude James.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Eric Mason presiding.
Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal and from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Friends Church.
