Alice was the daughter of James Abraham and Estella (Quick) McWilliams. Her parents came by covered wagon at the turn of the century to file on land in what was then known as "No Man's Land."
Alice was born March 4, 1906, on the homestead in Beaver Co., Okla.
After the land was "proved up," the family moved back to Canton, Okla., in Indian Territory.
A few years later, they moved back to the homestead. Her father drilled water wells over a wide territory.
In World War I, the Rock Island Railroad in Liberal was calling for help; thus the family moved to Liberal to live and work. When the war was over they moved back to the homestead and remained there until 1922, when they moved to Perryton, Texas.
On March 4, 1930, she married L.C. "Cull" Whisenant of Forgan, Okla. He died Dec. 29, 1994.

In 1946, the family moved to Liberal; however, they continued farming until 1974, when son Joe took over the farming operation.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Liberal.
Alice was profoundly grateful that the blood of her pioneer parents ran in her veins. The lessons her parents taught her of honest toil and frugality never left her. The contentment and simple pleasures of strength in close neighborly ties, the serenity in nature's loveliness -- the priviledge of living on those beautiful plains, the enjoyment of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the long twilights and the clean, fresh air were all factors in her long and useful life.
She is survived by one daughter, June Kissock and husband, Jerry, Ft. Collins, Colo.; one daughter-in-law, Janet Whisenant, Liberal; one brother, James Ray McWilliams, Perryton; one sister-in-law, Gladys McWilliams, Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Tony Ray Whisenant, John Kelly Kissock, Timothy Joseph Kissock, William Jerry Kissock and Diana Carol Hunter; six great-grandchildren, Traci Whisenant, Crystal Hunter, Kyle Kissock, Ethan Kissock, Samantha Whisenant and Preston Whisenant; and a host of nieces and nephews.
