WINCY A. OWEN
ELKHART -- Wincy A. Owen, 84, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at her home in Salina.
She was born July 18, 1918, to Benjamin R. Roll and Agnes Wilkens in Morton County.
She married William A. Owen Jan. 15, 1946. He died June 24, 1994.
She spent her early years in Elkhart, where she attended school. She attended beauty school in Topeka.
In 1956, she opened her own beauty shop in Elkhart, where she remained owner and operator until 1988. She later moved to Salina, where she had been a resident since that time.
She was a member of Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salina; RSVP; Hospice of Salina; and past member of The Order of Eastern Star in Elkhart.
Her hobbies included spending time with her family, gardening, collecting angels and playing with her dogs.
Survivors include four daughters, Judith A. Martin and Jill Billinger and husband, Ed, all of Salina, Jane Thomas and husband, Jim, Katy, Texas, and Jana Russell and husband, R.D., LaPort, Texas; one sister, Lorene Peterman, Wichita; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harvey Roll; and one sister, Earlene Taylor.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart with the Apostle Jim Nunn presiding.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

MICHAEL RINDELS
HUGOTON -- Michael "Mike" Rindels, 40, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita as a result of an auto accident.
He was born Sept. 4, 1961, to Irvin and Betty (Wittenburg) Rindels in Moberly, Mo.
He was a graduate of Hugoton High School.
He was a longtime Hugoton resident. He was employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company.
Survivors include his parents, Sun City, Az.; one brother, Ron Rindels, Hugoton; one sister, Casey Knox, Hugoton; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Cremation has already taken place.

THERESA THOMAS-TREADWAY
EL DORADO -- Theresa Ann "Teri" Thomas-Treadway, 52, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Seward County.
She was born Sept. 30, 1949, to Thomas A. and Dorothy L. (Poe) Thomas.
She married John Treadway. He survives.
She was a resident of Satanta since 1995. She was a hair stylist and owned and operated her own shop.
She lived in Matfield Green for 10 years before moving to Satanta.
She was a member of Satanta First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include her mother, Eureka; four daughters, Amanda K. Cortez, Luana R. Nelson, Roxie L. Treadway and Robin R. Treadway, all of Satanta; two brothers, Timothy A. Thomas, El Dorado, and Stony B. Thomas, Cassoday; one sister, Betty J. Melson, Eureka; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Roger Thomas; and one nephew.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
Burial will follow at Burns Cemetery
in Burns.

MARY V. COFFMAN
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Mary Victoria (Serrato) Coffman, 45, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
She was born Aug. 10, 1957, to Juan and Victoria E. (Martiniez) Serrato in Liberal.
She married Daniel W. Coffman. He survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Joseph Serrato, Amarillo, Texas.
No services are planned at this time.
Parker Funeral Service and Crematory in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
LILLIAN M. PHOENIX
SUBLETTE -- Lillian May Phoenix, 92, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta, where she had been a resident almost eleven years.
She was born May 17, 1910, to William and Gertrude (Payne) Kramer in Brookfield, Mo.
She married John Lester Phoenix Dec. 3, 1927, in Eucha, Okla. He died July 2, 1964.
She and her husband moved from Afton, Okla. to Sublette in November 1947.
She was a homemaker and a sales clerk at Myers Grocery Store for several years.
She was baptized at First Christian Church in Olathe in 1923. She was a member of Christian Church, O.E.S., Past Matron's Club, and Bible Study Club, all in Sublette, and Rebekah Lodge in Afton.
Her hobbies included spending time with her family and attending church.
Survivors include three sons, John B. Phoenix and wife, Shirley, Sublette, Larry C. Phoenix and wife, Terry, Sublette, and James L. Phoenix and wife, Barbara, Sublette; two daughters, M. Darlene Ash, Afton, and Marsha D. Collins and husband, Kenneth, Tahlequah, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Phoenix, Sublette; two brothers, Woody Kramer and wife, Virginia, Hutchinson, and Bill Kramer and wife, Naomi, Olathe; one sister, Marge Messer, Olathe; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Bill Phoenix and Dean Phoenix; one sister, Mary Evelyn Alexander; and five brothers, John William, Oscar Franklin, Edward Herman, Diedrick Herman and Karl Fredrick Kramer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Christian Church in Sublette with the Ministers David Erwin and Walter Birney presiding.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery
in Afton.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

GREGORY S. PANKRATZ
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Gregory Stuart Pankratz, 41, former Liberal resident, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, in Tucson.
He was born Dec. 22, 1960, to H. Stuart and Gretchen (Good) Pankratz in Ames, Iowa.
He attended Okemos High School in Okemos, Mich.
He had been a resident of Tucson for the past ten years and was a route salesman and distributor.
He was also an amature composer and writer.
His hobbies included playing classical guitar and listening to classical and folk music.
Survivors include his mother, Kismet; father, Lansing, Mich.; one brother, Andrew Earl Pankratz, Lansing; two sisters, Katrina Haines and husband, Terry, Charotte, Mich., and Allison Pritts and husband, Dr. Marvin, Trumansburg, N.Y.,; grandmother, Verna Pankratz, Hillsboro; one uncle, Gary E. Good, Hilton Head Is., S.C.; two aunts, Gloria Good Pittman and husband, Ed, Liberal, and Farol Bale and husband, Larry, Kansas City.
Burial Eucharist will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with the Rev. James Adams, Father James M. Shannon and Deacon Larry Steadman presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today and 3-6 p.m. Monday at 216 Yale Ave. in Liberal.

MYRNA J. WITT
FLORENCE, Colo. -- Myrna Jean Witt, 65, died Aug. 29, 2002, at her home in Pueblo West, Colo.
She was born Sept. 16, 1936, to George A. and Vivian Dysinger in Hooker, Okla.
She married Henry Jesse Witt Aug. 7, 1955. He survives.
Other survivors include her parents; two sons, H. Jay Witt and wife, Lisa, and Daniel Witt and wife, Karen; three daughters, Rebecca Dunn and husband, Brant, Deborah Clark and husband, Rod, and Stacye Wallace; three brothers, George C. Dysinger and wife, Evelyn, David Dysinger, and Jim Dysinger and wife, Deb; 15 grandchildren, Kaleb and wife, Amy, Katie, Hilary, Levi, Jesse, Anna, Nathan, Ben, Josh, Bethany, Leah, Zach, Taylor, Paige and Luke; and numerous other friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Erroll Dysinger.
Services were Sept. 1 at Southwest Church of Christ in Pueblo, Colo.

GARY L. MOODY
SUBLETTE -- Gary Lynn Moody, 49, Hooker, Okla., resident and former Sublette resident, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born Feb. 25, 1953, to Robert and Barbara Ann (White) Moody in Fort Smith, Ark.
He attended schools in Sublette.
He worked in the oil fields and also worked for area farmers and ranchers.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Barbara Jean Moody, Sublette; one brother, Jeff Moody and wife, Debbie, Turpin, Okla.; one sister, Michelle Pruitt, Mesa, Ariz.; four step-brothers, Steve Gautreaux, Kenyon Gautreaux, Doug Gautreaux and Oren Gautreaux, all of Kansas City, Mo.; one step-sister, Claire Gautreaux, Kansas City, Mo.; three nephews, Brandon Moody, Liberal, Damon Pruitt, Mesa, and Shawn Jacobs, Turpin; four nieces, Elizabeth Pruitt and Lindsay Pruitt, both of Mesa; Haley Watson, Austin, Texas, and Chayla Brook, England; and one grandmother, Florence Drake, McLean, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Mark Allen Moody; one sister, Diana; and grandparents, Carl and Lura Ellington, and Charles and Edna Moody.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta with the Minister David Erwin presiding.
