MARY V. SERRATO-COFFMAN

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Mary Victoria (Serrato) Coffman, 45, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

She was born Aug. 10, 1957, to John and Vicki Serrato in Liberal.

She married Daniel W. Coffman. He survives.

She was raised in and around the Liberal area.

Other survivors include one daughter, Christin Woods and former husband, Dewitt Woods, Biloxi, Miss.; two brothers, Mike Serrato, Elkhart, and Joseph Serrato, Amarillo, Texas; one nephew, Felipe Serrato, Henersonville, Tenn.; one niece, Kelsie Serrato, Pampa, Texas; aunts and uncles, John and Elsie Martinez, George and Virginia Gonzales, and Joe Martinez, all of Liberal, Carman Duran, Wichita, Pat and Maria Maher, Lompoc, Calif.; one great-aunt, Elosa Serrato Delgado, Garden City; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Joe and Simona Martinez and Luis and Jessica Serrato; and great-grandparents, Macedoni and Paula Serrato.

Her final resting place will be in Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.

Parker Funeral Service and Crematory in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

EDGAR M. KNOBLOCH

HUGOTON -- Edgar Milton Knobloch, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident west of Liberal.

He was born Aug. 25, 1919, to Merl and Daisy (Money) Knobloch, in Meridian.

He married Dorothy Jane Calonder Oct. 30, 1945, in Nickerson. She died Feb. 2, 1996.

He was a Hugoton resident for 30 years, after moving from Larned, where he operated a shoe repair shop for many years. He worked for the Kansas Corporation Commission before retiring in 1984.

He was a World War II veteran and a survivor of Iwo Jima.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hugoton.

His hobbies included golfing and supporting Hugoton Country Club.

Survivors include two sons, David Knobloch and wife, Brenda, Spokane, Wash., and Dean Knobloch and wife, Dawn, Fritch, Texas; two brothers, Gene Knobloch, Houston, Texas, and Fred Knobloch, Reno, Nev.; one sister, Martha Patterson, Ramona, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jamie Brewer, Matt Knobloch and Lisa Knobloch, all of Spokane, Jeff Knobloch, Amarillo, Texas, and Tommy Knobloch, Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Josh Knobloch, Spokane, and Ty Knobloch, Amarillo.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Marion "Bo" Knobloch, Don Knobloch and Glen Knobloch; three sisters, Dorothy Biles, Bernice "Sissy" Stokes and Naomi Knobloch.

Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church in Hugoton with the Pastor James Lucas presiding.

Military graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery in Winfield with Gene Knobloch presiding and V.F.W. Post No. 3544 conducting military honors.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.

Memorials are suggested to either Faith Lutheran Church or Hugoton Senior Citizens Center in Hugoton in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

MILTON E. BURNETT

Johnson -- Milton Earl Burnett, 102, Johnson, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born June 20, 1900, to Frank and Rosa (Jacobs) Burnett in Stafford County.

He married Audra Lee Ogle Nov. 26, 1934, in Springfield, Colo. She died Dec. 19, 1991.

He had been a resident of Manter since 1929 and was a farmer. He lived in Greeley, Colo. from 1946-1962, when he moved back to Manter.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Manter and a 78 year member of the Johnson Masonic Lodge. He served on the Manter school board, helped build Manter Grade School and worked on the Manter Dam. He was also a member of the Manter Grange and former member of First Baptist Church in Greeley. He was named 2002 Pioneer of the Year.

Survivors include three daughters, Velda Folger, Manter, Bonnie Eckas, Johnson, and Cliffie DeCasper, Carson City, Nev.; one sister, Opal Deuel, Norwalk, Calif.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil, Ralph, Cliff and Bumont Burnett; and one sister, Ruth Kilgore.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Manter with the Rev. Kevin Seuser presiding.

Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in Manter, Manter Church Scholarship Fund, or Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, all in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS 67855.

VERN R. PATTERSON

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Vern R. "Pat" Patterson, 82, former Liberal resident, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Grand Junction.

He was born Sept. 26, 1919, to Russell and Bertha M. (Heston) Patterson in Liberal.

He married Mildred A. Ware May 25, 1946, in Meade. She survives.

He graduated from Liberal High School in Liberal.

He entered the US Army, and was a veteran of World War II.

He was the manager of the North Ideal Food Store for 35 years. He retired in 1982.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fargo Lodge 300, Eastern Star and has served as Grand Worthy Patron and was active in Demolay.

Other survivors include one daughter, Donna Corde and husband, Dean, Grand Junction; one sister, Pearl Snider, Walnut, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and one daughter.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal with the Rev. Ken Hathaway presiding. Fort Riley Honor Guard will present military honors.

Friends may call to sign the register book until 8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary in Liberal. The casket will be closed.

LEREE W. RICE

Leree W. Rice, 83, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at her residence in rural Liberal.

She was born Nov. 10, 1918, to Ray and Iris (Brewer) Watson in Cimmaron.

She married Robert Owen Rice Jan. 28, 1939, in Boise City, Okla. He survives.

She had been a Liberal area resident for the past 60 years.

She graduated high school in 1937 in Pritchett, Colo.

She was a member of Cloverleaf Extension Unit and Progressive Grange No. 1902.

Other survivors include two sons, Jimmy Ray Rice and wife, Carolyn, Longmont, Colo., and Jerrie Joe Rice and wife, Diana, Liberal; five grandchildren, Brian Rice, Melissa Rice, Gina Willems, Sara Nevins, and Amanda Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Riley Nevins, Tatum Nevins and Chloe Willems.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jean Strickland.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. David Bagwell presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Liberal Home Hospice in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901.

WARREN G. HUETTELMAIER

OMAHA, Neb. -- Warren G. Huettelmaier, 82, former Liberal resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, in Omaha.

He was born June 9, 1920, in Omaha.

He married Virginia (Sis) Huettelmaier. She survives.

He was a tuba player with Tangier Shrine Band and played bass for 25 years in the Omaha Symphony.

Other survivors include two daughters, Diane Miller and husband, Larry, Liberal, and Lorie Roberts and husband, Steve; and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary and Jordon Miller, and Spencer Roberts.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Memorials are suggested to Shrine Burn Center in care of Roeder Mortuaries, Inc., 4932 Ames Ave., Omaha, NE 68104.

ALVA R. KIDDOO

PLANO, Texas -- Alva R. Kiddoo, 90, former Kismet resident, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Collinwood Nursing Home in Plano.

He was born Dec. 9, 1911, to Charles and Willie (Tisdal) Kiddoo in Cordell, Okla.

He married Cora Ethel Schaller April 21, 1933, in Kismet. She died Jan. 1, 2000.

He graduated from Kismet Rural High School in 1930.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1978.

He served as mayor of Kismet for 10 years. He was a past Worshipful Master of the Plains Masonic Lodge No. 367 and a Member of Order of the Eastern Star Liberal Chapter 104, receiving his 50 year membership pin in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon Kiddoo and wife, Dianne, Dallas, Texas, and Charles Norman Kiddoo and wife, Winnie, Henderson, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ferris and Charles L. Kiddoo; and four sisters, Edith Kiddoo, Bertha Buckmaster, Ethel Kiddoo, and Gertrude Moss.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Walter Brant presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.
