DAN CLINKINGBEARD

PERRYTON, Texas ­ Dan Clinkingbeard, 57, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002.

He was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Elkhart.

He married Patty Stuart July 8, 1964, in Elkhart. She survives.

He had been a resident of the Perryton area for 14 years, having moved from Pampa, Texas.

He had worked for Amoco Production, retiring in 1999 after 33 years.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Elkhart.

Other survivors include one son, Shon Clinkingbeard, Hugoton; one daughter, Serina Vestal, Wichita Falls, Texas; his parents, Bill and Jean Kemp, Elkhart; three brothers, Robert Clinkingbeard and Thomas Kemp, both of Elkhart, and Greg Kemp, Lawrence; in-laws Albert and Edythe Stuart, Hugoton; one granddaughter, Laci Vestal, Wichita Falls,; and one grandson, Chase Clinkingbeard, Hugoton.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Kemp.

Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Perryton with Brent Adams presiding.

Burial was at Ochiltree Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Arrangements were handled by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.

GERALD CLYMER

SUBLETTE -- Gerald Clymer, 63, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.

He was born Aug. 8, 1939, to Clell and Pearl (Packer) Clymer in Washita County, Okla.

He spent most of his life in Haskell County, moving from Oklahoma.

He was a farm laborer.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Clymer and wife, Brandy, Cuba, Mo., and Scott Clymer and wife, Krystl, Branson, Mo.; two daughters, Sherri Evans and husband, Ricky, Ray Town, Tex., and Cami Edgar and husband, Neal, Mt. Vernon, Mo.; three brothers, Bobby "Red" Clymer, Garden City, Floyd "Whitey" Clymer, Coffeyville, and Wesley Clymer, Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Doris Desrocher, Sublette, Florene Romeburg, Garden City, and Linda McCrary, Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette with the Minister David Erwin presiding.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

DALE C. BURNS

ELKHART -- Dale C. Burns, 76, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born April 23, 1926, to Clinton B. and Ruth B. (Carter) Burns in Kansas City.

He married Melba Brown May 12, 1946, in Morton County. She survives.

He attended and graduated high school in 1943 in Elkhart.

He was a lifelong resident of Morton County.

He served his country as a World War II veteran in the United States Navy, stationed on the U.S.S. Laurens apa 153. After being discharged from the service, he returned to Morton County and began farming and ranching for himself.

He retired from farming and ranching in 1987.

His hobbies included spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, taking care of trees on the farm and traveling with his wife.

Other survivors include two sons, Roger Dale Burns and wife, Joyce, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Wayne Allen Burns and wife, Pamela, Newton; one brother-in-law, J. Reece Brown, Liberal; four grandchildren, Dawn R. Spann and husband, Bryan, Amanda Burns, Alicia Jayne and husband, Luke, and Megan Burns.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Elkhart with the Pastors Jim Brackett and Jerry Odle presiding.

Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church of Elkhart or Whistle Stop Park, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 514 Kansas Ave., Elkhart, KS 67950.

JOHNNIE V. PACE

BELLE CHASSE, La. -- Johnnie Virginia Pace, 87, former Liberal resident, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La.

She was born July 12, 1915, to Mark F. and Mamie E. (Smith) Warren in Nowata, Okla.

She married William C. Pace Oct. 10, 1932, in Guymon. He died July 24, 1986.

She moved from Dumas, Texas to Liberal in 1948. She moved to Belle Chasse in 1996.

She was owner and operator of Jennie's Cafe from 1954-1968 and was a retired hair dresser.

She was a member of Trinity Faith Church and D.A.R.

Survivors include three daughters, Elinora Dickson and husband, Marcus, Belle Chasse, Billye Byrley Trautman and husband, George, and Aronda Shinogle, all of Gretna, La.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Byrl Garrett and Kathline Hardin.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Liberal Cemetery with the Rev. Dee Estes presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. Family will greet friends from 7-9 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice, in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.

VERNA R. ADAMS

PLAINS -- Verna Ruth Adams, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Augusta Regional Medical Center in Augusta.

She was born May 14, 1924, to James Clinton and Christie L. (Parker) Trefethen in Dorrance.

She married Samuel O. Woltje in June, 1939. She married William H. Adams March 13, 1945, in Fallon. He died Sept. 21, 1990.

She was a resident of Plains from 1939 to 1993. In June, 1993, she moved to Hutchinson and later to El Dorado.

She was a homemaker and a retired nurse, having worked for Epworth Hospital and Southwest Medical Center, both in Liberal.

Survivors include three sons, Samuel O. Woltje and wife, Carolyn, Wright, William H. "Bill" Adams, Jr. and wife, Ruth, Plains, and Donald Ray Adams, Kismet; one daughter, Blanche Todroff and husband, Jim, El Dorado; one brother, Wayne Trefethen, Everson, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, James Todroff, Larry Woltje, Brian Adams, Travis Adams, Donna Walker, Laura Bone, Sheila Adams, Ann Amerin, Heather Adams and Andrea Benard; five great-grandsons; and eight great-granddaughters.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Lawrence Monroe Woltje; one brother, Earl Trefethen; five sisters, Bertha Stokes, Floy Tremaine, Geraldine Edward, Blanche Brasier and Dorothy Snyder.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Plains Friends Church in Plains with Randy Littlefield presiding.

Burial will be at Plains Cemetery in Plains.

Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to Friends Church of Plains or Crisis Pregnancy Center of El Dorado, both in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, P.O. Box 70, 212 S. Fowler St., Meade, KS 67864.

LAWRENCE D. MOYE

SAN DIEGO -- Lawrence David Moye, 36, former Liberal resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Kaiser Permanenta Medical Center.

He was born June 15, 1966, to Harold and Wantha Graber Moye in Liberal.

He attended Liberal High School and graduated from Seward County Community College.

He lived in Kansas City before moving to San Diego, where he worked at California Bank and Trust in central control.

Survivors include his mother, Liberal; father, Afton, Okla.; one brother Johnny Robert Moye, El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Joycia Noll, Hooker, Okla., Rebecca Hawk, Tishomingo, Okla., and Brandie Patterson, Denison, Texas; and one grandmother, Fern Graber, Liberal.

Memorial services were at 5 p.m. Friday in San Diego.

Miller Mortuary in Liberal was in charge of local arrangements.
