TERRY J. HARRIS
HUGOTON -- Terry J. "Duke" Harris, 64, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1938, to Glen and Beatrice (Clark) Harris in Hugoton.
He married Jan Begnoche on May 15, 1989, in Hugoton. She survives.
He graduated from Farmington High School in 1954. He later attended Highlands University for two years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, honorably discharged in 1962.
He worked as a carpenter, oilfield, and police dispatcher for the Stevens County Sheriff's Department.
His hobbies included artwork, trivial games, collecting handguns, and gardening.
He was a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society.
Other survivors include, three sons, Shawn Harris, Austin, Texas, Danny and David Arnold, Hugoton; two daughters, Shannon Crane, Tulsa, Okla., and Anita Talbert, Hugoton; his mother, Beatrice Harris, Manhattan; two brothers, Kent Harris, Gardenville, Nev., and Dennis Harris, Wichita; one sister, Joann Lamberson, Manhattan; one uncle, Robert Clark, Wichita; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton, with military gravesside rites by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.

WILLIAM GOULD
William "Brent" Gould, 100, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis in Wichita.
He was born Aug. 3, 1902, to Zeno and Ora Mae (Thornton) Gould in Etna, Ill.
He married Lolita Kile June 12, 1927, in Wellington. She died May 7, 1983.
He married Virginia McAtee Bell March 30, 1989, in Greensburg. She survives.
He was Liberal resident for 46 years, moving from Syracuse.
At an early age, he worked at a Ford dealership in Syracuse. In 1924, he moved to Garden City to work for McCoy Motor Company and worked there for 10 years.
He moved back to Syracuse to start an oil business and bought farm land and cattle. In 1940, he went back to selling cars at the Dodge/Plymouth Dealership in Garden City and stayed there until 1956.
In 1956, he moved to Liberal and started the Dodge dealership until 1974 when he sold out. He continued to farm and work in the cattle business until 1985.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, 20th Century Sunday School Class and Liberal Noon Lions Club, where he received his Melvin Jones Fellowship in April 1995. He served on the Liberal Bee Jay's Board for 21 years and was president three times.
His hobbies included attending sporting events, such as the NBC World Series in Wichita, which he attended as long as he could; and helping the Seward County Community College Saints Athletic Department, which he helped since the college opened in 1967. In 1996, the college named the baseball field "Brent Gould Field."
Other survivors include two step-sons, Clinton Bell, Houston, Texas, and Cris Bell, Cheney; two step-daughters, Frances Kimbel and Sandra Wylie, both of Wichita; one brother, Lloyd T. Gould, Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Wreatha O'Neal, Clovis, Colo., Rena Burchfield, Aurora, Colo., and Ruby Caron, Syracuse; eight step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; nine nephews; and five nieces.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Liberal with the Revs. Ken Hathaway and Jerry Odle presiding.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. (MDT) Thursday at Syracuse Cemetery
in Syracuse with Joe Gould presiding.
Friends may call from until 9 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

PERLA E. SEPULVEDA
Perla Esmeralda Sepulveda, 9 months, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 15, 2001, to Ruben Mauricio and Claudia Ann (Holguin) Sepulveda in Liberal.
Survivors include her parents, Liberal; three brothers, Sergio Alex Hernandez, Joaquin Jr. Hernandez and Ivan Terry Sepulveda, all of the home; grandparents, Ruben and Ofelia Sepulveda and Espranza Rodriguez, all of Liberal, and Hilario Holguin, Dodge City.
Receiving of the body was at 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church, First Street and Prospect, in Liberal.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Funeral mass will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15th and Calhoun, in Liberal with the Father Patrick A. Keyes presiding.
Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.

JUANITA M. WEBB
Juanita Mae Webb, 45, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at IHS Nursing Home in Wichita.
She was born May 4, 1957, to Tom and Frances (Wright) Bloomfield in Liberal.
She married Larry Webb May 5, 1989, in Liberal. He survives.
She was a lifelong resident of Liberal.
She worked at Taco Tico, Love's and assisted her husband at Southwest Daily Times.
She attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Liberal.
Other survivors include her mother, Frances Booth, Liberal; one son, Steven Chavez, Liberal; one step-son, Nathan; three brothers, Michael Booth and wife, Mary, Paauilo, Hawaii, David Booth and wife, Ronda, Sayre, Okla., and Laban Booth and wife, Brenda, Liberal; four sisters, Jennie Bloomfield, Liberal, Patricia Galbreath and husband, Richard, Houston, Texas, Carrie Booth and Cindy Booth, both of Liberal; 20 nieces and nephews; and five great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by one son, Mathew Chavez, and step-father, Pat Booth.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with David Vartian presiding.
Inurnment will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.

MICHAEL S. JANTZEN
ULYSSES -- Michael Stuart Jantzen, 18, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, as a result of an auto accident west of Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 23, 1983, to Stuart K. and Jewel Mae (Redger) Jantzen in Ulysses.
He was a lifetime resident of Ulysses.
He was a construction laborer.
He was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Ulysses.
Survivors include his parents, Ulysses; four sisters, Greta Isaac and husband, Matt, Ulysses, Judith Koehn and husband, Les, Galva, Rachel Seiler and husband, Quincy, Middleton, Mich., and Rebekah Jantzen, Ulysses; grandparents, Jake and Erma Redger, Clayton, N.M.; three nephews; one niece; five uncles; four aunts; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Julia Jantzen; and two uncles.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses with the Ministers Denton Koehn and Brad Koehn presiding.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.

CHARLES R. MATTIX JR.
MEADE -- Rev. Charles R. Mattix Jr., 53, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at his residence in Meade.
He was born Aug. 13, 1949, to Charles Ramond and Eleanor (Crosby) Mattix in Frankfort.
He married Gloria R. Adams Dec. 27, 1968, in Hoxie. She survives.
He was a resident of Meade since July, 1998.
He was the minister of United Methodist Church in Meade.
He was a 1967 graduate of Caney High School in Caney, a 1970 graduate of Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, and a 1972 graduate of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg. He received his Masters of Divinity May 28, 1982, from Iliff School of Theology in Denver.
Prior to his work as minister, he was a high school science teacher, teaching for six years in the communities of Highland; Bosworth, Mo.; and Sharon Springs.
Following his years of teaching, he received his Deacon's Orders May 22, 1979, and his Elder's Orders May 29, 1984. Once he was ordained, he served in Herndon Church of Christ; Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church; Oxford; Gueda Springs; Manter United Methodist Church; Hill City, Bogue, Morland and Studley, which he served as Graham County Parish; South Haven-Mt. Hope; Reading-Calvary, Emporia; Attica United Methodist Church; and Meade United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Webb Lodge 275 A.F. & A.M. in Meade, serving as past Master; Scottish Rite Consistory of Salina; United Methodist Church Kansas West Conference; and Ministerial Alliance, Meade.
Other survivors include his mother, Gardner; one son, Buel Mattix, Salida, Colo.; one daughter, Lily Jones and husband, Jeremiah, Lawrence; and one sister, Carolyn Moore and husband, Don, Gardner.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Meade with the Dr. Dennis Kuder presiding.
Burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Hoxie Cemetery
in Hoxie.
