ELLIS HAMON

Ellis Jewell Hamon, 85, of Harrodsburg, widower of Ann Hightower Hamon, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born August, 23, 1925 in Berea, he was the son of the late Ellis and Corsa Combs Hamon. He was a carpenter and WWII U.S. Navy Veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Floyd of Houston, TX; a sister, Maxine Handziak of Winchester; a brother, Bruce Hamon of Harrodsburg; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Earl and James Edward Hamon.

Services were conducted 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Scobee Funeral Home with Dr. Ed Mesta officiating. Burial was in Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, FL.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 2201 Regency Rd., Lexington, KY 40503.

DORA PHILLIPS

Dora E. Phillips, 83, Lexington, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

Born in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Cue Phillips Sr. and Ruth Conyers Phillips.

Survivors include: one daughter, Margaret Ruth (Joey) Andrews; two grandchildren, Dorathea Andrews, Rhea (Shane) Hatfield; and two great grandchildren, Gracyn Hatfield, and Jackson Hatfield.

Memorial services will be private.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Main Street, Lexington,. in charge of arrangements.

TONY PHILLIPS

Tony Phillips, 65, of Harrodsburg, husband of Sharon Gross Phillips, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born June 1, 1945 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late George R. and Dorothy Steele Phillips. He was a retail store clerk.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters: Shona Roshea Hibbs of Lawrenceburg, Angel Renee Briese, Nicholene Brook Rice, Jessica Leigh Phillips and Lea Bridgett Phillips, all of Harrodsburg; two sisters: Geraldine (Bob) DeVary of Hodgenville and Brenda (Wayne) Steele of Harrodsburg; and three brothers: Donnie and Ronnie (Linda) Phillips, both of Harrodsburg and George (Margaret) Phillips of Louisville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Waylon Phillips and a sister, Barbara Jean Hall.

Services were conducted Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Ethan Claunch, Jason Briese, David Rice, David Pike, Keith Hall and Wayne Steele.

KENNETH ROBINSON

Kenneth D. Robinson, 86, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the V.A Medical Care, Lexington.

Born February 7, 1925 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Francis E. and Helen Theuer Robinson.

He served during World War II as a gunners mate in the Navy/Coast Guard. He was founder, president and CEO of the National Hospital Network Systems and a member of the Dutch Reform Church. He was also a life member of the VFW and American Legion as well a member of the National Hospital Association. Kenneth had a passion for trains.

Survivors include: five daughters, Patricia (Joe) Giaritelli of NC, Michelle (Mike) Geil of FL, Marilyn Bates of FL, Barbara (David) Horton of TN, Carrie Robinson of GA; and one son, Kenneth D. Robinson Jr. of TX; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

CHESTER SCOTT

Chester B. Scott, 89, formerly of Burgin, widower of Lorraine Leonard Scott, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Danville.

Born November 1, 1921 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Chester and Minnie Votaw Scott. He was a retired millwright for Duncan Machinery Movers and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by a daughter, Judy (Jimmie) Hawthorne of Lexington; a sister, Jewell Pinkston of Cardwell; a brother, Winston Scott of Louisville; and special friends: Angela Williams, Jennifer McClain and Joe Turner.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Scott.

Services were conducted Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Brad King officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Garden.

MILLICENT SELTSAM

Millicent Eloise Seltsam, 89, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 10, 1921 in Mercer County to the late Benjamin Oscar and Bertner Reed Sanders and was the wife of the late John William “J. W.” Seltsam.

Mrs. Seltsam was a homemaker, a member of the Danville Presbyterian Church, enjoyed gardening, playing Bridge and dearly loved her family.

She is survived by: one son, Morgan Seltsam of Harrodsburg; grandson, Jay Seltsam and great-granddaughter, Alana Seltsam of Louisville; step-grandson, Larry (Tara) Graves of Frankfort; brother, Glendon (Mary) Sanders of Nicholasville; and close friend Lauren Newman of Danville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Seltsam was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Seltsam, two brothers, Elwood and Byford Sanders, and a sister Brunell Young.

Graveside service was held Wednesday April 13, 2011 at Bellevue Cemetery with Rev. James L. Stewart officiating.

Pallbearers were Jay Seltsam, Larry Graves, John David Sanders, David Sanders, Alex Newman, and Mike Seltsam.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes. Association.

LOLA WHITTAKER

Lola Helen Whittaker, 68, of Harrodsburg, widow of Garnett Wayne Whittaker and William Bruce Lanham, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

Born June 23, 1942 in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Lucille Burger Johnson.

She was a former Cricketeer and 19th Hole employee, retired Mercer County school bus driver and member of the Beach Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Anita Hubbard of Parksville; two sons, Jeff and Joe (Charlie) Lanham, both of Harrodsburg; six sisters: Nora Sims, Sue Lamb and Beulah Hourigan, all of Garrard County, Martha Harlow of Danville, Glenna Sallee of IN and Becky McGinnis of Russell Springs; and two step-sons, Jesse Whittaker of Versailles and Billy Dean Whittaker of Burgin.

She was preceded in death by a son, James William Lanham.

Services will be conducted 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Junior Field officiating. Burial will be in the Beach Grove Cemetery, Washington County.

Pallbearers are: Jimmy Lanham, Mike Jenkins, Steve Jones, Steve Proctor, Clyde Lanham and Stanley Sanders.

Honorary bearers are grandchildren.

Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

ILA CHILTON

Ila Catherine McQueary Chilton, 79, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday April 16, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born March 13, 1932 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Egbert and Lena Grace Brown McQueary.

She was a retired employee of Cricketeer, a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

She is survived by four daughters: Lois (Joe) Harmon of Springfield, Marlene (LeRoy) Darland of Mercer County, Patricia King of Danville and Gloria (Bill) Sullivan of Columbia; seven grandchildren; four step- grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her companion, Wilmer Pendleton.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Cordel Chilton, three brothers: Roscoe, Leo and Junior McQueary; and a great-grandson, Dallas King.

Services were conducted Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark King and Chris Darland officiating. Burial was in Valley Oak Cemetery in Casey County.

Pallbearers were: Michael Horn, Joseph King, Alex King, Chris Waddell, Shawn Waddell, Chrystian Waddell, Tim King, Mark King and Kevin Horn.

MARY ELLIOTT

Mary Magdaline Elliott, 81, of Harrodsburg, widow of Carl Elliott, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Danville Center for Health.

Born April 12, 1930 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Asbury Byrd.

She was a retired production employee of Corning Glass and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Patricia Lynn Elliott of Harrodsburg; a son, Arthur Elliott of Harrodsburg; a sister, Maxine Bowser of Paragould, AR; a brother, Edward Byrd of Terra Haute, IN; four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Mullinek and Evelyn Porter.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville.

Pallbearers are: Steve, Stevie, Bill and John Elliott, Dudley Huffman and Zach Combs.

Visitation Thursday, April 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

JUDITH LINDSEY

Judith Gayle “Judy” Lindsey, 66, of Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Louisville.

Born March 15, 1945 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Helen Peyton Gash and the late William Guy Gash.

She was owner/operator of Cousins Restaurant and Catering and a member of the Doctor’s Fork Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Patricia Ann (David) Francis and Karen (Billy) Winters of Louisville; four brothers: David D. Gash of Lexington, Douglas Guy “Butch” Gash of Columbus, OH, and Jerry Denton Gash and Anthony Raymond Gash, both of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Sue Gash and two brothers: Billy “Burt” and Larry Gash.

Services were conducted Sunday, April 17 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John David Lane officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: David Francis, Billy Winters, David, Jerry, Butch and Tony Gash.

RAFAEL LOPEZ

Rafael Leopoldo Lopez, 63, of Harrodsburg, widower of Teresa Sue Pittman Lopez, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home.

Born July 14, 1947 in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of the late Leopoldo and Olga Elisa Gonzalez Lopez.

He was a member of New Life Ministries and was a retired American Airlines aircraft mechanic.

He is survived by a daughter, Eliza Correa of Harrodsburg; a son, Yves Lopez of Danville; a sister, Irene Lopez of GA; a brother, Javier Lopez of NJ and eight grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, April 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Chuck Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

TERESA LOPEZ

Teresa Sue Lopez, 56, of Harrodsburg, wife of Rafael Leopoldo Lopez, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at her home.

Born October 26, 1954 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jessie Pearl Broughton Pittman.

She was a Mercer County School System bus driver and a member of New Life Ministries, Danville.

She is survived by a daughter, Eliza L. Correa of Harrodsburg; a son, Yves Lopez of Danville; a sister, Elaine Lynn Hoskins of Louisville; a brother, John Pittman of Louisville and eight grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, April 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Chuck Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Aaron Brown, Jerel Coffey, Jeff Curtis, Chris Holderman, Larry Simpson and Rodney West.
