BRUCE COX

Bruce C. Cox, 67, of Junction City, husband of Donna Lou Sweat Cox, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born on Friday, December 3, 1943 in Parksville, he was the son of the late William and Ruby Craig Cox. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, four-wheeling and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle as well as a Kentucky Colonel. He owned Bruce’s Heating and Air since 1984.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bruce Wayne (Kim) Cox of Danville; three daughters: Barbara (Dale) Lewis of Danville, Tammy (Gary) Followell of Junction City and Carol Lynn of Junction City; four sisters: Frances Leffew of Mitchellesburg, Mary Ann Hollon of Danville, Jessie Huff of Danville and Charlotte Ulmer; three brothers: James Cox of Junction City, Warren and Mike Cox; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Hayden Cox and a grandson.

Services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Odis Clark officiating. An Eagle Service was also performed.

JERRY ELAM

Jerry R. Elam, 60, of Harrodsburg, husband of Marilyn Elam, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Born March 7, 1951 in Monticello, he was the son of the late Fred and Jean Duncan Elam.

He was a trade supervisor for the Parks Department of Lexington Fayette Urban County Government. He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and a Mason of St. John’s Lodge 125.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Jerrod (Stefanie) Elam, Callee (Sarah) Elam, Jefe (Kelli) Gabat and Lisa Gabat; two brothers, James R. Elam and Sam R. (Freda) Elam; a mother-in-law, Helga “Ricky” Reitberger; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, with Masonic Rites at 5 p.m.

No funeral service is planned.

LOUISE HALL

Louise Belle Hall, 45, died Saturday July 9, 2011.

She was born February 17, 1966 in Smyrna, TN to Molly Avo Goble Hall of Salvisa and the late George Allen Hall.

Additional survivors are: two brothers, George Alvis (Cathy) Hall and Richard Clayton (Allyson) Hall; three nieces, Jessica, Jennifer and Catelyn Hall; one nephew, Nathan Hall, all of Nicholasville.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 until 8 p.m., at the Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Floyd County, Martin, KY. Burial will follow in Morris Family Cemetery.

ROBERT HESTER

Robert "Bob" Woods Hester, Sr., 82, of Georgetown, formerly of Lexington and Burgin, husband of 63 years to Elizabeth "Betty" Masters Hester, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his home.

A native of Irvine, he was the son of the late Edd and Ollie Ball Hester.

Bob was the former owner and operator of Meadowthorpe Barber Shop, an advertising sales manager for Southern Living magazine and most recently a construction manager for Ball Homes. He is a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity (Episcopal), Masonic Lodge #104 F & AM in Lancaster, past president and former member of the Meadowthorpe Optimist Club, and was a founding member of both Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church and Spring Valley Country Club.

Survivors, besides his wife, include: his children, Carrie Johnson, Georgetown and Robert (Betty) Hester, Jr., Lexington; four grandchildren, Sarah Johnson (Pat) Price, Robert Christopher (Ali) Johnson, Lauren Elizabeth Hester and Michael Masters Hester; one great granddaughter, Stella Elizabeth Price; one brother, Larry (Katie) Hester; brother in law, Bill S. (Libby) Masters, sisters in law, Eloise (Howard) Mackey and Phyllis Masters, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were conducted Saturday, July 9, at The Church of the Holy Trinity (Episcopal) by The Rev. Elise B. Johnstone.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, The Church of the Holy Trinity (Episcopal) or Burgin Christian Church.

MARIE HUNN

Marie B. Hunn, 100, widow of Windrell Pat Hunn, Sr. died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Born May 27, 1911, she was a retired employee of Bellsouth and a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Windrell (Lena) Hunn, Jr.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Helen Laye.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church on Broadway.

The wake is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011.

WILLIAM PIKE

William Franklin Pike, 77, of Danville died Friday July 1, 2011.

Born October 26, 1933 to Sam and Mary Alice Murphy Pike, he was a farmer and attended North Rolling Fork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Jackie (Susan) Pike of Junction City, three daughters, Rita (George) Devine, Teresa Cox and Carol (Ralph) Maness, all of Harrodsburg, as well as seven grandchildren, Jacqueline McNew, Brittany Bolin, Chris Bolin, Timmy Tungate, Matthew Pike, Zack Pike and Seth Pike, and four great grandchildren, Brayden McNew, Bradley Burton, Hunter Bolin and Allison Pike.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Devine.

A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, with visitation the hour before at the cemetery. Burial was in Pendygraft-Pike Cemetery.

ANTHANY SMITH

Anthany Logan Smith, infant son of Ashley Dawn Peach of Willisburg and Ralph Lee Smith of Perryville, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at the UK Medical Center, Lexington.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Christy Dawn Peach of Willisburg; paternal grandparents, Rhonda Smith of Perryville and Anthany Smith of Harrodsburg and paternal great-grandmother, Sylvia Arnold of Perryville.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Nancy Yocum, Charles Peach and Ronnie Arnold.

Services today, Thursday, July 14 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Harley officiating. Burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Visitation after 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14.

NELLIE WARD

Nellie Lou Jenkins Ward, 73, of Stanford, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of Marvin Ward, died Saturday, July 9, 2011.

Born December 10, 1937 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Sallie Banks Jenkins.

She was retired from Cricketeer Manufacturing and Hitachi Automotive and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Dale and Jeffery Alan Ward, both of Stanford; two sisters: Ruby Coslow of Harrodsburg and Marie Jenkins of Stanford; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by six brothers: LeRoy, Estle, William, Fred, Harvey and Paul Jenkins and four sisters: Dovie Mae Jenkins, Carolyn Stephens, Lizzie Rae Beasley and Bessie Jenkins.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Springhill Cemetery with Brother Donnie Releford officiating.

TIMOTHY WASHABAUGH JR.

Timothy Lee Washabaugh Jr., 43, born September 18, 1967 in Versailles and died Monday, July 11, 2011 in Lexington.

He is survived by: his parents, Timothy Lee and Nancy Washabaugh Sr; five sisters, Crystal (Leroy) Dicks, Cheri (Howard) Buckland, Solitare (Mac Childers) Washabaugh, Misty (Nick) Simmons, all of Lexington and Lucretia Brewer of Salvisa; three brothers, Gary and Joshua Washabaugh, both of Lexington, KY and Steven Washabaugh of Winchester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family services are being planned.

In honor of Tim’s life and legacy, contributions can be made in Tim’s memory to Louis Arnold Ministries, Bethel Road, Nicholasville, KY.

Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville, is in charge of arrangements.

MILDRED DRURY

Mildred Purdom Drury, 88, widow of Sidney O. Drury, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at her residence.

Born June 9, 1923 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Margie Lester Purdom.

She was a retired Glass Inspector with Corning Glass and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching television game shows and working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Mary) Drury of Yellow Springs, Ohio; six grandchildren: Brent Drury, Angela Combs, Sarah Sisco, Douglas Sisco, David Sisco, all of Ohio and Kent Pikey of Ind. and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Sims Watterson.

Services were conducted Sunday, July 17 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. John David Lane officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Brent Drury, Douglas Sisco, David Sisco, Russell Fritz, Mark Robbins and Keith Allen.

Honorary pallbearers were: Emma King, Ann Huffman, Betty Castillo, Peggy Harmon, Pat Hardin, Frankie Huffman, Betty Baker, Betty Steele, Brenda Collier and Janice Bottom.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 210 Malabu Drive, Suite 110, Lexington, KY 40503.

MARIE HUNN

Marie B. Hunn, 100, widow of Wendrell “Pat” Hunn Sr. died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the James B. Haggin Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Born May 27, 1911, she was the daughter of George and Lanie Coffee Bryant, a retired employee of Bellsouth and a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Wendrell (Lena) Hunn, Jr. and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Helen Laye.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at the church.

Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg is in charge of arrangements.

LORRAINE REYNOLDS

Lorraine Hendren Reynolds, 79, formerly of Mercer County, wife of Herschel Dow Reynolds of Mt. Washington, died Monday, July 18, 2011.

She was born May 7, 1932 in Duncan.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Daniel, Steven and Kevin Reynolds; a sister; three brothers; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mt. Washington. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.

Visitation today, Thursday, July 21 from 1 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday, July 22.
