PATRICIA GOINS

Patricia Goins, 63, of Harrodsburg, wife of Bobby Lee Goins, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at her home.

Born June 29, 1948 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Anna Loretta Bartley Boone. She was co-owner of Propest Exterminators, a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and an animal lover.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Marie Bruner of Burgin and Nancy Gail Goins of Harrodsburg; three brothers: Daniel S. Boone of Fla., Thomas Joseph Boone and Richard Boone, both of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Father Emmanuel F. Zamora officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Garden.

Pallbearers are: Greg Boone, Todd Humphrey, Joseph Bruner, George Plunkett, Shannon Britton and Rex Alexander.

Visitation Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Mercer Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 314, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 or Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

ELIZABETH HOLMAN

Elizabeth Eugenie Holman, 82, of Salvisa, widow of John Gregory Holman died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at her residence.

Born Sept. 8, 1928 in Duquesne, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bertram and Elizabeth Heaps Phillips. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband’s business Holman Machinery in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She enjoyed gourmet cooking classes.

She is survived by three siblings: Kathy Cooper of Salvisa, John Lawrence Holman of New Port Richey, Fla. and Cynthia Ramsey of Lexington, N.C.; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg is in charge of arrangements.

MARY JACKSON

Mary L. Jackson, 93, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of the late James Jackson, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at the Candlewood Park Healthcare Center in Ohio after a long illness.

Born April 9, 1918 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Meaux Taylor. She was a graduate of West Side High School, a domestic worker and member of the St. Peter AME Church, where she was the first baby to be baptized there.

Survivors include four nieces: Emma Griffin and Connie VanDyke of Harrodsburg, Brenda Duplessis of Chicago and Lottie Yates of Calif.; nephews, Michael VanDyke of Ohio and Sherman VanDyke of Ind. and several additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 15 at Sims Funeral Services with Elder J.D. Short, III officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

EDNA REARDON

Edna C. Reardon, 87, of Danville, widow of Thomas Reardon, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at her residence.

Born Sept. 4, 1923 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Ida Lake Crowe. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, fishing, camping, cooking and traveling.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Sharrie) Reardon and David (Rainey) Reardon; a daughter, Kim (Sam) Reardon Brown of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry (Linda) Reardon.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at Preston Pruitt Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Payton and Bro. Steve James officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Sam Brown, Tony Brown, Mike Gordon, Bill Engle, Corey Reardon, Larry Crowe, Frances Fiordalisi and Darryl Reardon.

Honorary bearer was Kenneth Reardon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church.

DALE SHEPPERSON

Dale Keith Shepperson, 62, of Mitchellsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in Nashville, Tenn. He was the husband of Barbara Cummins Shepperson.

Born June 2, 1949, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late Joe and Emma Edwards Shepperson.

Dale Keith was a graduate of Boyle County High School and a member of Mitchellsburg Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of McLane Corp., a former volunteer fireman for Boyle County Engine No. 5 and the city of Danville. His love of the outdoors took him to one of his favorite vacation spots, The Great Smokey Mountains. He also loved camping and woodworking. Dale Keith’s quick wit and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by: four daughters, Mecia Cheak and Shawna Reed, both of Harrodsburg, and Jennifer Hawn and Stacey Price, both of Danville; a son, Colin Shepperson of Parksville; a sister, Marie Adkins of Mitchellsburg; two brothers, Sonny Norvell of Danville and Peck Norvell of Texas; seven grandchildren, Kendrick, Scarlett and Blake King, Shawnnee and Cheyenne Reed, Krista Price and Gabe Dennis; a great-grandchild, Shaelyn King; a special niece, Pam Noel; and a special nephew, Bobby Brady.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by the Rev. Lee Arnold, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jerry Edwards, Jerry Noel, Ted Adkins, Brandon Norvell, Kendrick and Blake King.

Honorary pallbearers were Alan Robins, Mike Tharp, Joey Rigdon, Frankie Phillips, Buddy Lutes, Charlie Parks, Randy Orwig, Buck Sawyer, Garnice Lamb and Jimmy Coffman.

KATHERINE SULTZBACH

Katherine Sultzbach, 96, of Zolfo Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at her home.

She was born December 17, 1914, to Ed. C. and Lela V. (Sweeny) Gover in Somerset, and had been a resident of Zolfo Springs since 1976, coming from Danville, Kentucky.

She was a homemaker and past member of the Eastern Star; was of the Methodist faith, very active in her church and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, quilting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by: her children, Janet Hawn, Danville; Stephen Bruce (Kerry) Sultzbach, Harrodsburg, and Sara Jane Bylund, Zolfo Springs; seven grandchildren, including special grandson, Hagan Bylund; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Malcolm Sultzbach; son, James Edward Sultzbach and brother, Roy Gover.

Entombment was at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL.

WILLIAM TINDALL

William Francis “Buster” Tindall, 33, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

He is the son of James William and Marlene Fay Artist Tindall of Lawrenceburg. Buster was born May 10, 1978 in Harrodsburg.

He worked for 11 years as a CMM Lab Technician for Monoplast in Frankfort. He is a 1997 graduate of Anderson County High School and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

He is survived by: his wife of 10 years, Stephanie Nicole Branton Tindall; two children, Brianna Nicole Tindall and Branton James Tindall; two sisters, Lisa Fay Johnson (Ron) of Waverly, OH, and Margaret Pearl Holt (Chris) of Lawrenceburg; parents-in-law Garry and Sandy Gaines of Lawrenceburg.

Funeral service were conducted Wednesday, August 17, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Rucker officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Barry Hobbs, Anthony Bean, Louis Barnett, Chris Goodrich, John Tindall, Aaron Flora, Eric Kelley, and Billy Hall.

Memorials are suggested to the Buster Tindall Memorial Fund for his children Brianna and Branton.

DONALD TURNER

Donald J. Turner, 68, died Sunday, August 14, 2011.

He was born in Versailles on June 2, 1943 to the late Elmer J. and Margaret Ellen Turner.

He was a printing press operator at Quebecor and worked at Rand McNally for 40 years.

He is survived by: his wife, Sarah Turner; three sons, Bryan D. Turner, of Lawrenceburg, Michael K. Turner and Jason T. Turner, both of Salvisa; four grandchildren; and two brothers, William R. Turner, of Owenton, and Elmer W. Turner, of Bardstown.

Funeral service was Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road, Frankfort, with Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Casketbearers were his three sons, Bryan S. Turner, Dakota Turner, and Zachary Turner.

Honorary casketbearers were Audrey Boggess, H. T. Bowman, and Scott Turner.

Donations may be made to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40423.

MARVIN BEST

Marvin Leon Best, 95, of Mackville, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born in Washington County, on April 18, 1916, he was the son of the late Vernon and Maggie Key Best.

He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

Survivors include a son, Glenn (Barbara) Best of Mackville; two grandchildren, Sandra (Berry) Alcorn of Springfield and Harold (Jennifer) Best of Harrodsburg; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Addison Best of Harrodsburg.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Best officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Tim Hawkins. Burial was in Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Alcorn, Kyle Best, Ronnie Best, Tony Best, Bruce Burkhead and Earl Ramey.

Carey and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM EARLYWINE

William “Billy” Perrin Earlywine, 82, of Salvisa, widower of Joyce Ann Searcy Earlywine, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at the Bluegrass Community Hospital in Versailles.

Born in Winchester, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Samantha Feedback Earlywine. He was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship Church; owner and operator of Billy Earlywine Milk Hauling Co.; a member of Anderson Masonic Lodge # 90, a 32nd degree mason, Oleika Shriners Temple, Scottish and York Rite. He was a Korean War veteran and had received a purple heart.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Sadler of Salvisa; two grandsons, Keith Sadler of Lawrenceburg and Billie Joe (Melissa) Sadler of Salvisa; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Cunningham and Pauline Toll and a brother, Eugene Earlywine.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Vernon Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

GRACE ELLIOTT

Grace Elliott, 92, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1918 in Meta, she was the daughter of the late Rutherford and Biddy (McCoy) Bee. She was a retired manager with Learners Department Stores in Phoenix, AZ.

Survivors include: one son, Sam Elliott of Sparks, NV; four grandchildren, Tracy Reis, Carl Reis, Sam Cutruzzula and James Alan Manning.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Eve Nell Reis.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
