CURTIS TRUE

Curtis D. True, 77, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Friday, February 23, 1934, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Roy and Minnie Morrison True.

Curtis was a 35 year retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service, a 1952 Graduate of Liberty High School, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member and deacon at First Christian Church. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Craftsman Masonic Lodge #722, where he just received his 50 year pin. Curtis was a founding member of the Hickory Hills Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing. He was also active in Casey County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include: his dear wife, Barbara Reid True; one son, Gary (Mindy) True of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Audrey (Scott) Rousey of Hustonville; one sister, Gay Steinhauer of Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Connor and Courtney; niece, Karen Lucas of Westchester, OH; and a host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011, at the First Christian Church with Bro. Homer Hecht officiating. Burial followed in Brush Creek Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad.

Pallbearers were John Mesplay, Tom Lucas, Ray Williams, Kevin Watson, Craig McAnelly, Brad Wesley and Dean Rigney, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth King, David McAnelly, J. O. Wilkinson, Danny Jeffries, George Kendrick, Morris Myers, Joe Burton and Phillip Scott.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements entrusted to the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

CLIFFORD WRIGHT

Clifford Eugene Wright, 68, of Salvisa, died Dec. 11, 2011 in Richmond.

Born Sept. 30, 1943 in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Lora E. Hurt and the late Cecil E. Wright.

Survivors other than his mother include a daughter, Peggy Black of Harrodsburg; a son, Cecil (Daphne) Wright of Richmond; a sister, Phyliss Jean (Ray) Wright Potkay of Bella Vista, Ariz., half-sister Merri Lyn (Val) Smith of Inid, Okla., stepsister Penni Frazier of New Mexico, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and his former wife Linda “Lynn” Wright.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerrad Wright.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Todd, Ronald Hunter and Ricky Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Willard and Roy Robinson.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 7 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

LINDA ARNETT

Linda T. Arnett, 61, wife of Reed Arnett, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born Feb. 15, 1950 in Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Rosalyn Sims Travis. She was employed with Bluegrass Medical Supply in the Medicine Shoppe, was a graduate of Hager Beauty Academy and was the former owner of Arlington Beauty Salon. She was a member of The Carpenter’s Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandson.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter Amber Arnett Adams of Harrodsburg, one sister Terry Wafford of Lexington, a grandson Cameron Reed Adams and two nephews, Tommy Hager and Troy Hager.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at The Carpenter’s Christian Church with Greg Warren and Ronnie Ping officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Tim Ellis, Delmer Warren, Walter Goggin, Bob Brown, Lee Thompson and Kevin Meredith serving. Honorary pallbearers are Brenda Brown, Pat Ensslin, Pam Thompson, Lea Goggin and Tammy Ping.

Visitation from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at The Carpenter’s Christian Church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Palliative Care Team at Central Baptist Hospital, 1740 Nicholasville Road, Lexington, KY 40503.

JAMES CATLETT

James Catlett, 75, of Hopkinsville, husband of Lucy Tuggle Catlett, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011.

Born Nov. 13, 1936 in Harrodsburg, he served as director of the South Kentucky Industrial Development Association in Hopkinsville for almost 40 years. He was a member of the Christian faith.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Amy McGuire of Florida, Michele Catlett of Vermont and Elizabeth (Stephen) Mattison of Bowling Green; a sister, Janet Reed and a brother, Daryl Catlett, both of Harrodsburg and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Bruce Catlett.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 12 at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.

CARLOS HILL JR.

Carlos Aubrey Hill Jr., 62, of Mercer County, husband of Charlotte Lister Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 in Harrodsburg.

Born March 17, 1949 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Aubrey Hill and Mary McCauley. He was a former employee of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the Marines in the Vietname War veteran and a member of the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include four daughters, Ashley Hill, Kathy Emerson and Samantha Huffman, all of Mercer County and Geri (Patrick) Statom of Indiana; two sisters, Sandy and Liz and five grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with the Rev. Larry Hill officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Post #18. Pallbearers were Wayne Lister, Clifford Bottom, Donnie Hankla, Warren and Glenn Pike and Steven Reed.

Wilder funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

VICTOR HUDNELL JR.

Victor Leroy Hudnell, Jr., 59, of Burgin, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at his home.

Born Nov. 30, 1952 in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of Delores Davis Hudnell of Florida and the late Victor L. Hudnell, Sr. He served during the Vietname War in the Army.

He was a retired construction worker.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: one daughter, Tiffany (John) Gillman of Burgin; three sons, Richard (Shirley) Hudnell of Harrodsburg, Victor (Jo Lynn) Hudnell III of Athens, Ohio and Hollie (Misty Reed) Hudnell of Burgin; one sister, Christine Hazworth of Florida; two brothers, Stanley Hudnell of Athens, Ohio and Greg Hudnell of Florida and a special companion, Betty Lou Hudnell.

Graveside services were 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors. Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

GRACE MOORE

Grace Maxine Moore, 86, of Altoona, Kan., formerly of Franklin, Tenn. and Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her residence.

Born in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept. 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Orline Snider. She was the widow of Jack Edward Meyerhofer and Hal Moore. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, a life member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International for over 38 years, WKU Alumni Association, National Women’s Press Association and a graduate of the Franklin Leadership class and had worked as a staff reporter for The Harrodsburg Herald.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan (Travis) Haney of Altoona, Kan.; a son, Robert A. Meyerhofer of California; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence E. Meyerhofer.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Tenn.

DAVID PRESTON

David H. Preston. 74, of Onstott Road died 12-16-11 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Garrard County to the late Earl and Marie Preston; and was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Adams Preston.

David was a lifetime farmer, Garrard County Farm Bureau Director for over 40 years, and was a member of the Scotts Fork Christian Church.

Surviving are: two daughters, Janice Hall(Jeffery) of Lancaster and Marilyn Preston of Nicholasville; two grandchildren, Nicole Ellington(Matt) and Maverick Hall of Lancaster; two great-grandchildren, Calab and Cason Ellington; two brothers, Virgil Preston(Fredia) of Perryville and Kinnard Preston(Faye) of Lancaster; one half-brother, Jimmy Baker(Linda) of Lancaster; four sisters, Leoma Turner, Patsy Gilliam(JR),Nina Gilliam(George) and Bonnie Ledford, all of Lancaster. Five half sisters, Bonnie Denham(Billy) Stanford, Billie Tillet(Roger)Lancaster, Vena Poynter(James) Lancaster, JoAnn Tudor(Jackie) of Somerset and Judy Lowery of Stanford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Otis Clark and Rev. Bryce McCulley.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5-9 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Shell, Gary Shell, Mike Preston, John White, Glendan Barker, Edward Floyd, David Noe and James Gilbert Edgington

Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the Scotts Fork Christian Church and G. B. Shell, Kenneth Land, Clay Parsons, Justin May, Darby Montgomery, Jeff Preston, Mike Carter, Harry Howard, Woodie Leavel, Royce Hall, John Ball, Kevin Preston, Bobby Preston, Bill West, Johnny Grubbs, Frank Moberly, Travis May, Billy C. Doolin, Ricky Edgington, Morey Maddox, Ernie Ellis and Kevin Ellis.

Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster is in charge of arrangements.

SANDRA WIGHT

Sandra O. Wight, 63, of Harrodsburg, widow of Dean Curtis Wight, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at her residence.

Born March 19, 1949 in Mayfield, she was the daughter of Victor Ricketts of Burgin and the late Dora B. Ricketts. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors in addition to her father include: three daughters, Teresa (Darren) Wirick of Aberdeen, N.C., Sharon (Carlos Torres) Rios of Harrodsburg and Johnna Voght of Portland, Ore.; one brother, King (Rhonda) Jones of Jamestown and four grandchildren.

A private gathering will be held at a later date for family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Drive, Danville, KY 40422.

He was the son of the late Callie Keeler and Artie Yeager Barnett and the widower of Nila Drury Barnett. Survivors include: Three sons: Harry Barnett, Harrodsburg,; James Barnett, Prattville, Alabama and Phillip Barnett, Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter: Sara Ann Greene, Junction City; four sisters: Ruby Yates, Lula Foster and Vivian Anderson, all of Lexington and Eulah Patton, Marion; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Steven Barnett and two brothers: Willis and Burnice Barnett

He was a retired Kentucky State Park employee of Old Fort Harrod State Park and farmer. He was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, Elder and Deacon

Carrier, Robert Lee

Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery

He was the widower of Ella B. Vest Carrier. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Nellie Shearer Carrier, Sr. Survivors include: two sons: Bobby Lee Carrier, Harrodsburg and Eddie Ray Carrier, Cynthiana; one daughter: Eva Pearl Lay, Harrodsburg; one sister: Gertrude McKinney, Mercer County; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother: Stanley Carrier; four sisters: Pearly Shearer, Lilly Shannon, Brownie Hargis and Bessie Shannon and one grandson: Jeremy Todd Carrier.

He was a mechanic, brick layer, farmer and a member of the Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed dirt track racing and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Born in Lawrence, Ohio he was the son of the late George and Mabel Byers Grieve and had lived in West Virginia for several years. He was the husband of Martha Cooke Grieve. Besides his wife, Mr. Grieve is survived by three sons: David S. Grieve and Michael L. Grieve, both of Harrodsburg and David L. Grieve, Jr., of Weirton, West Virginia; two daughters: Carissa Grieve, of Richmond and Sharon Kirkpatrick, of Wileyville, West Virginia; and five grandchildren: Jaylan, Josh, and Michael Grieve and Jeremy and Joseph Kirkpatrick.

He had served his country as a United States Air Force Veteran.

He was a former truck driver and was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church.
