He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Sallee Cummins. He was the son of the late Lykers and Rilda Board Cummins.

Survivors include sons Jerry Lee Cummins and John Victor Cummins both of Wildwood, Florida. Terry Clemmer of VanCouver, Wa. A sister Nancy Carter of St. Petersburg, Florida. Two grandsons and four great grandchildren also survive. Three nieces Louise Satterly, Jackie Glascock and Sandra Wade.

He had served in the U. S. Army during W.W. II, a retired farmer and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday October 8, 2004 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. Friday until the hour of service at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Prewitt, Grover "Strut"

Danville, Kentucky

Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg

He was the son of the late John S. and Onie Prewitt. He is survived by his nephew Albert Prewitt, Jr. of Danville and his niece Gayle Prewitt of Harrodsburg.

He was retired after thirty-three years at Palm Beach in Danville.

Private services will be conducted Friday, October 1, 2004 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

She was the widow of Carl Lay. She was born March 5, 1916 in Washington County to the late Tim and Etta Pinkston Royalty. Survivors include sons Carl W. Lay and his wife Sally of Woodbridge, Virginia, Danny C. Lay and his wife Patsy of Lexington, Kentucky Eddie P. Lay and his wife Rosemary of Harrodsburg. One daughter Mrs. Sandy Duncan and her husband Ralph of Sacramento, California. One sister Mrs. Kathryn Baker of Mackville, Kentucky Seven grandchildren, three great grand children and several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

A graduate of University of Kentucky College of Agriculture School of Economics, where she was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron. She was a member of U. K. Fellows Society and was the recipient of the U. K. Distinguished Alumni Award. A former Scott County teacher, a dedicated Social Worker for the state of Kentucky for 20 years. She and her late husband owned and operated Tenderlay Turkey Farm and Fort Harrod Angus Farm. A member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Rose Hill Homemakers and was a volunteer at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Carl H. Lay Scholarship Room 212 Lexington, Kentucky 40546-0091.

She was the widow of Willliam T. Collier. She was the daughter of the late George Willie and Annie B. Carr Baker. Survivors include: one son: David Collier and his wife, Patty of Harrodsburg; one daughter: Sandy Sanders and her husband, Lonnie of Harrodsburg; two brothers: Ronald "Frog" Baker and Fonnie Baker, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters: Barbara Greene of Anderson County and Freida Settles of Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one-great-great grandchild, a special friend and roommate at Harrodsburg Health Care Manor, Russie Kendrick, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Vina Boyd; a great-grandchild: Brandon Claunch; two sisters: Helen Simpson and Gertrude Baker; and four brothers: Maurice Baker, John Baker, Bobby Baker and Cleo Baker.

She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, an employee of Hallmack, a former waitress and enjoyed sewing, crafts, travel and loved animals.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial will be Spring Hill Cemetery with Charlie Baker, Art Baker, Todd Boyd, Blake Norton, Harold Baker and Gary Griffieth serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wendesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

The husband of Stephanie McGrath Patterson, he was the son of the late Glennon Lee Patterson and Albertine Robinson Hayslett. Additional survivors besides his wife include: paternal grandmother: Beatrice Hourigan, Harrodsburg; two step-sons: Tre Devin McGrath, Harrodsburg and Randy E. Darland, Danville; two daughters: Erica Nicole "Nikki" Patterson and Tara Faye Patterson, Harrodsburg; one sister: Abby Yeast, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren: Kelsey Brooke Harris and Kya Jade Harris, his dog, Lucy and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a former factory worker and a Baptist. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, NASCAR, movies and dogs.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Donald Litteral officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Gardens with Matthew McGrath, John McGrath, Shawn Parker, Randy Darland, Doug Robinson and Keith Pinkston serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Additional survivors besides his wife include: two sons: Elwood Collier and Belve Lynn Collier, Harrodsburg; one daughter: Beuna Grigsby, Harrodsburg; three sisters: Elizabeth Scott, Temperance, MI, Leora Tyler, Harrodsburg and Lillian Tyler, Burgin; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons: Marvin Lee "Baldy" Collier and Maurice Evans Collier; two sisters: Alma Isham and Violet Steele; three grandchildren: Dana Michelle "Shelly" Releford, Toby Scott Collier and Terry Lynn Matherly and one great-grandchild: Toni Yvonne Matherly.

He as a retired farmer, a member of Cornishville Baptist Church and a Mason.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour and Bro. Jack Geurin officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Hunter Coleman, Jerry Jones, Travis Wheeler, Aubrey J. McMullin, Hanley McMulli and Lee Howard Releford serving as pallbearers and Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 176, Harrodsburg, Kentucky 40330; the Mercer Co. Humane Society, 896 Moberly Road, Harrodsburg, Kentucky 40330 or to one's charity of their choice.

He was the son of the late Omer Herbert and Bessie Brim Carey. Mr. Carey is survived by his five brothers: William and his wife Ruby Carey of Harrodsburg, Omer and his wife Esther Carey of Harrodsburg, Lewis and his wife Violet Carey of Burgin, Robert and his wife Carlene Carey of Burgin, and Thomas and his wife Mamie Carey of Garrard County. Several nieces and nephews and a special friend Barbara Price also survive.

He had attended the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, was a farmer, enjoyed C.B. Radios, and working with electrical items.

He was preceded in death by his sister Hazel Robinson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Geoffrey Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Hank Judge, Paul Hensley, Danny Robinson, Michael Paul Hensley, Tom Carey, and Brian Day serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. Saturday and after 7:00 a.m. Sunday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

He was the husband of Loretta Lester Baker. He was the son of the late Raymond and Dorcas Ross Baker. Besides his wife, Mr. Baker is survived by four daughters: Phyllis and her husband Don Long of Harrodsburg, Dianne and her husband Steve Hayden of Harrodsburg, Debbie and her husband Mikki Knight of Harrodsburg, and Kelli and her husband Rick Morgan of Harrodsburg. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mattie Baker Coslow and Dorothy Baker Hilton, and six brothers: Marshall Baker, Jay Baker, Norvie Baker, R.C. Baker, Georgie Baker, and Cleo Baker.

He was a retired Truck Driver and Farmer and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he was a member of the Faith, Hope, and Love Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Lonesome Buckaroos, enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing guitar, and attending baseball games.

Funeral service for Mr. Baker will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Bro. J.W. Knight officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

She was born May 28, 1916 in Mercer County to the late Joel and Mary Cora Curd Holman. Survivors include two sons Thomas Holman Reed and his wife Wanda of Salvisa. James E. Reed and his wife Renee of Harrodsburg. Three grandchildren Jim E. Reed of Harrodsburg. Jamie Reed of Harrodsburg and Thomas Coleman Reed of Bowling Green. One great grand son Nicholas J. Reed of Harrodsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers Virgil, Dudley and Herman Kurtz and three sisters including Omah Yocum.

A homemaker who enjoyed raising violets. She was a member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday August 30, 2004, 2:00 P.M. at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Bro. Lester Tirey. Pallbearers will be James Alen Motley, Richard "Dick" Cheak, James Stinnett, Bob Cheak, Ray Motley, Jimmy Motley, Gene Motley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Reed and T. C. Reed. Interment will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. Sunday and after 7:00 A.M. Monday until the hour of service at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

She was the daughter of the late Warner and Dora Mary Agnes Boggs Bartleson. She leaves to cherish her precious memory six daughters: Patricia Jones and Joan (Paul) Williams, both of Louisville; Debra (Don) Thomas, Rhonda Bess, Priscilla Dale Bryant and Wanda Craycraft, all of Burgin; three sons: James (Linda) Dunn and Gregory Bowman, both of Burgin and Ronald (Sharon) Bowman of Harrodsburg; one brother: Cecil (Mary) Bartleson of Burgin; one sister: Mary Garner of Lexington; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren. several sisters and brothers-in-laws; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, dear friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Truman Bartleson and one sister: Bessie Pope.

Mama Frankie" as she was fondly called, was a faithful member of the Little Zion Baptist Church, where she was an active choir member and on the kitchen committee until her illness, a retired employee of Hall-Mack, and Leggett Meyers. She loved flowers, cooking, yard work, taking care of her family and was a senior companion for the Mercer Co. Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Loyal Benevolent Society, Eastern Star and the Kentucky Club.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Little Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Phillip A. Yates officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson Roe Cemetery in Burgin with Norman Bartleson, Paul Williams, Truman Bartleson, Randall Bartleson, Charles Bartleson, Pierre Smith, Alvin White and Ronnie Cloyd serving as pallbearers and Derrick Jones, Jermaine Bowman, Justin Bowman, Paul Williams, Jr., Daricoe Bowman and Davron Bowman serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Little Zion Baptist Church.

Mr. William J. “Billy” Simpson, 54, of Cloverdale Drive, Harrodsburg, husband of the late Stella Ann West Simpson, died Thursday August 19, 2004 at his residence. Born January 7, 1950 in Mercer County, he was the son of Effie Breeding Simpson of Harrodsburg and the late Marshall Jr. Simpson. He was an Auto-Body Repairman, a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church, he enjoyed fishing, U.K. Sports, and NASCAR. Besides his mother, Billy is survived by his three sons Travis Lynn Simpson of Harrodsburg, Darrell (Linda) Followell of Burgin, and William Scott Followell of Harrodsburg. Three brothers Ronnie Simpson, Stevie Simpson, and Jeff Simpson all of Harrodsburg, three sisters: Betty Murphy of Harrodsburg, Joyce Hill of Danville, and Charlotte Lane of Harrodsburg. Five grandchildren: James R. Followell, Justin I. Followell, Joshua A. Followell, Brittany Followell, and Brandon Scott Followell all of Harrodsburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Marshall Jr. Simpson and his brother Junior Wayne Simpson. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Geurin officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Jerry Bugg, Tommy Darland, Howard West, Stevie Releford, Jonathan Devine, Chris Baker, Wayne Tracy, and James Tracy serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
