He was the husband of Audrey Bowers McDermott, the son of the late Joseph J. and Eleanor Berthot McDermott. Additional survivors besides his wife include: One daughter: Patricia McDermott Conrad, Harrodsburg; two sons: Donald McDermott, Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Timothy McDermott, Clearfield, Pennsylvania and one brother: James McDermott, Clearfield, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A World War II Veteran of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division.

He enjoyed sports, hunting and was a NASCAR fan.

He was the son of the late Eugene and Bessie Sallee. Survivors include: one son: Robert Sallee and his wife, Tammy of Harrodsburg; two daughters: Betty Jo Young and her husband, Tony of Harrodsburg and Donna Pulliam and her husband, Ronnie of Harrodsburg; three brothers: TC Sallee of Wilmore, Ansel “Buck” Sallee of Michigan, and Billy Sallee of Lexington; one sister: Eugenia Warner of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren one step grandchild and several nieces, nephews, and his many good friends.

He was a retired employee at Corning, Inc. and was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He worked on riding lawn mowers and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Walter & Ralph Sallee officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Chris Young, Brian Sallee, Chad Young, Brad Young, Brandon Sallee, Andrew Pulliam, Channing Sallee, and Gary Popplewell serving as pallbearers and Amy Jo Young, Amanda Pulliam, Roy Moore, Donald Cocanougher, Roger Botts, Chester Gabbert, Jimmy Devine, Carroll Gritton, Carlos Lester, Arthur Bugg, and Junior Darnell serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Sallee, James

Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg

He was the son of the late James Oliver and Elizabeth Harlow Sallee. The husband of the late Augusta Lyons Sallee. Survivors include two sons: John H. and his wife Janice Sallee of Louisville, and James W. and his wife Shirley Sallee of Louisville. Three daughters: Mary DeVary of Louisville, Margaret and her husband Ragan Watts of Louisville, and Betty and her husband Bob Buckley of Louisville. Eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was a retired farmer, was the oldest and charter member of Shakertown Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Grandchildren: John DeVary, III, Mike Sallee, Tim Sallee, Doug Sallee, Calvin Watts, Rick Buckley, Teresa Heaphey, and Robert Joe Buckley serving as active pallbearers. Deacons of Shakertown Baptist Church and Lonnie Jenkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005 and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Louisville, 532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.

Mrs. Ladine Sheperson, 85, of Jackson Pike, Harrodsburg, wife of Wallace Sheperson, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. Born April 28, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Robinson Darland. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and canning, and was a member of the Bohon Church of Christ.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Sheperson is survived by her brother Lafon Darland of Harrodsburg, her sister Stacy Darland Batts of Knoxville, TN. Four sisters-in-law: Loraine Burns of Burgin, Sada Carey of Lexington, Mollie Carey of Lexington, and Isabel Cummins of Celina, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Gary Bagwell officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and after 7:00 a.m. Sunday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Wilham, Edward Walker

April 12, 1937 - June 20, 2005

Edward Walker Wilham, 68, Burgin died Monday, June 20, 2005 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 12, 1937 in in Louisville he was the son of the late Edward and Mattie Elkin Wilham. He served 12 years in the U.S. Navy, was a retired painter and security officer. He was a member of the Burgin Christian Church, and enjoyed fishing and old westerns.

Survivors include Judy Horton, two daughters: Tammy Lynn Adams of Danville, and Pam Wilham Hickman of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, one aunt: Fay Wilham of Covington, several cousins including Beverly Hayslett Sanders of Burgin and Dot Landry of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by one brother: Bud Wilham.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 23, 2005 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Neal officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Chris Adams, Mike Adams, Billy Russell, Billy Joe Crank, Danny Horton and Roy Lee Sanders serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 A.M. Thursday until the hour of service at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Brock, Ryan Alexander

Ryan Alexander Brock, 18, beloved son of Ken and Alecia Brock, Evansville, Indiana, completed his earthly journey on Friday, June 17, 2005, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ryan was born July 15, 1986 in Cynthiana, Kentucky He attended Northern Elementary and Scott County Middle Schools in Georgetown, Kentucky, completing his middle school years at Oak Hill Middle School in Evansville, IN. Ryan was a 2004 graduate of North High School, Evansville, IN. where his major focus had been automotive technology. His plans were to attend Wyo-Tech University in Blairsville, PA., this fall to study street rod fabrication and high performance engines.

He has been a faithful servant of Christ and was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church in Evansville. He was involved in numerous activities at the church, including participation in the Journey, Judgment House, Upward Basketball, and two trips to Juarez, Mexico with the Mexico Mission Team to help build homes for those less fortunate. Ryan was a quiet individual who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ryan was fortunate enough to hold short term employment with Larry Doss Construction and Adecco. He truly enjoyed these opportunities to feel active and involved. Ryan was a son, grandson, nephew, cousin and compassionate friend who shared an immense faith and a gentle smile with all who knew him.

Ryan was preceded in death by two wonderful grandparents, Cleo H. Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY, and Kenneth E. Brock of Butler, KY, as well as a terrific aunt who shared a common bond with him, Barbara Brock Warner of Southgate, KY. Other than his parents, Ryan is survived by his joyful and loving older brother, Kevin Brock of Evansville, IN; two devoted grandmothers who cared for him during his illness, Joyce Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY, and Reba Brock of Butler, KY; one aunt who always endeavored to bring joy and simple pleasures into his life, Debbie Claunch of Harrodsburg, KY; one great-grandmother, Leo Hunt of Worthville, KY, who helped teach him the true meaning of faith; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and friends who provided love, support, and encouragement along the way.

Ryan was especially blessed to have wonderful Christian friends who shared a love for Christ, who continuously lifted him up in prayer, and who constantly looked for ways to include him in their daily activities. He has also been blessed by some wonderful caregivers, Dr. Brian Carr and Dr. Wallis Marsh of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA; Dr. Daniel Shirey and Nurse Practitioner, Kelly Dempsey, of Evansville, IN; and VNA Hospice Nurse, Heather Lenn.

The celebration of Ryan’s life will be in the form of a memorial service to be held at First Southern Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the church from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, with a Memorial Service immediately following. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, Harrodsburg, KY with the Rev. Don Moore, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church, Evansville, and Rev. Mat McIntosh, pastor of Bellepoint Baptist Church, Frankfort, KY, officiating. Burial and graveside services will be immediately following at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Ryan Brock Mission Fund, c/o First Southern Baptist Church, 25 S. Cullen Avenue, Evansville, IN, 47715.

Sanders, Susan Grace Bryant

She was the widow of Jess A. Sanders and was the daughter of the late A.D. and Addie Robinson Bryant.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her daughter Joyce Lane Sanders Shelton of Lexington, three grandchildren: Sharon (John) Burgin of Raleigh, N.C., Joey (Ashlee) Shelton of Brewster, MA. and Sonja (Allen) Ostendorff of Raleigh, N.C. Five great grandchildren: Christopher Burgin, Henry Shelton, Lucy Shelton, Natalie Ostendorff, and Nicholas Ostendorff. Mrs. Sanders was very fortunate for receiving excellent care given by Effie Thacker, Carol Hobbs, Catherine Holland, and Dr. Terrence Furlow. She was preceded in death by her brother O.E. Bryant, and two sisters: Thelma Carr and Beulah Mautz.

She was a member of the Mayo Christian Church, she enjoyed working in flowers, was a beloved mother and grandmother, and she truly enjoyed the comforts of home and her cat Precious.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. John Hockersmith officiating. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with John Burgin, Joey Shelton, Allen Ostendorff, David Freeman, Chad Beasley, and John Wesley Hockersmith serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bowen, Linwood Chilton, Charles Gorham, and William Robinson.

Survivors include two sons: Wayne Shewmaker and his wife, Joyce, Harrodsburg and James Allen Lewis and his wife, Kathy, Versailles; two daughters: Vicky Warner, Lawrenceburg and Laticia Blacketer, Harrodsburg; two sisters: Wanda Baker, Harrodsburg and Rhonda Baker, Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean Lee and Gleda Hume.

She was a retired Florida Tile employee and a member of Battle Baptist Church.

He was a retired regional manager for Investors Heritage Insurance and a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by six brothers: Ike Kinder, Roy Kinder, Dutch Kinder, Hollie Kinder, Thomas Kinder and James Kinder and two sisters: Georgia Kinder and Catherine Smith.

Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army

He was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church, a retired farmer and he enjoyed coon hunting.
