Mrs. Laverne Fowler, 87, formerly of Bluegrass Avenue in Louisville, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born September 18, 1918 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Clifton and Myrtle Moore Fowler. She was a retired factory worker, having worked at Kenners in Cincinatti.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her three brothers: Garnett and his wife Arvena Fowler of Harrodsburg, Harold Fowler of Harrodsburg and Earl Fowler of Harrodsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister Lavonne Fowler and her sister Delores Fowler.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Tuesday at the Ever Green Cemetery in Willisburg. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the Ever Green Cemetery in Willisburg.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The R.O.C. at Harrodsburg Baptist Church, 312 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

Mrs. Alberta Bugg, 82, of Perryville Road, Harrodsburg, widow of Alpha Eugene Bugg, Sr., died Monday October 10, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born October 24, 1922 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Ruby Williams Divine. She was retired from Palm Beach and was a Supervisor with the Boyle County Schools having served in the Cafeteria. She was a graduate of Fugazzi Business College, she enjoyed reading, quilting, and very much enjoyed the company of her pet poodle Peanut.

Mrs. Bugg is survived by her son Eugene Bugg of Harrodsburg; two daughters: Shirley (Charles) Daugherty and Brenda (J.W.) Sherrow both of Harrodsburg. One brother William Kyle (Jean) Devine of Harrodsburg, two sisters: Edna J. Bradley and Frances (Tommie) Hill both of Mercer County. Five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by one sister Pauline Bugg and brother Cleo Devine.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Ron Wood, Lindsay Campbell, and David Collier officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Troy Sherrow, Michael Sherrow, Steve Bugg, Jackie Hill, Timmy Devine, and Bobbie Estes serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hill, Mark Bugg, Tommie Hill, Oscar J. Bailey, and Mark Henson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Ervin, Rex

Mr. Rex Ervin, 45, of Village Circle, Wilmore, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Born January 11, 1960 in Lexington, he was the son of the late James (Jim) Ervin and Christine Frisby (Lewis)Kelly of Wilmore. A member of Southland Christian Church; Rex enjoyed working out at Luce Fitness Center in Wilmore and was a U.K. Wildcat basketball fan.

Besides his mother, Rex is survived by his twin brother Randy Ervin of Wilmore, three sisters: Angie and her husband Fred Herald of Mercer County, Sue Dunn of Wilmore, and Sharon and her husband Freddie Boswell of Mercer County. He is also survived by one aunt, two uncles, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Dick and Minister Brewster McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Travis Boswell, Bryan Boswell, Nathan Lewis, James Abney, and Steve Jewell serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

Roe, Howard Gene

Mr. Howard Gene Roe, 68, husband of the late Jean Rogers Hurst, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester. Born, January 22, 1937 in Bourbon County he was the son of the late Ray and Mary Hornback Roe. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of the Christian Church, Constitution Square Dancers, American Legion, VFW and Oddfellows Lodge and he enjoyed trading, buying and selling guns.

Survivors include: one son: John David Roe of Winchester, one daughter: Rosemary Roe of Louisville; one step-daughter: Regina Hurst Wagoner of Georgetown; one sister: Ann Taulbee of Winchester; five grandchildren; four nieces; two nephews and several cousins.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., October 7, 2005 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Huey Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris with Donald Means, Billy Brinegar, Roger Wagoner and Patrick Clay serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

She was the widow of James Paul Bradley and she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Cordie Webb Tyler. Survivors include three sons: Tommy (Sharon) Bradley and Jeff (Teresa) Bradley, both of Harrodsburg and Rick (Jenny) Bradley of Stanford; two sisters: Betty (Archie) Britton of Mercer County and Jane Bursell of Rockford, Illinois; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Andy, Marshal, Billy, and J.F. Tyler and three sisters: Nancy Lawson, Mabel Lake, and Louise Wilson.

She was a homemaker, a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, she enjoyed fishing, sitting on the porch and her grandchildren.

Stinnett, William T.

He was the husband of Barbara Morgan Stinnett and the son of the late Corbin and Mattie Mae Stinnett. Additional survivors besides his wife include: one son: Richard (Lisa) Stinnett, Burgin: three daughters: Lois (Tilton) Bradshaw, Harrodsburg, Kristi Smith, Stanford and Peggy (Robert) Johnson, Burgin ; four brothers: Larry (Donna) Stinnett, David (Verna) Stinnett of Harrodsburg, James (Nettie) Stinnett of Burgin and Robert Stinnett of Tennessee; two sisters: Rebecca (Anthony) Smith of Harrodsburg and Francis (Earl) Majors of Lancaster; eight grandchildren: Kyle, Heather, Christopher, Zachery, Whitney, Alexis, Hannah, and Noland and two great-grandchildren: Kyla and Alec; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was employed by High Bridge Spring Water. He was a member of the New Life Ministries Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working on lawn mowers.

Griswold, Carroll C.

Carroll C. Griswold, 69, of Mercer County, widow of Ralph S. Griswold, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Survivors include one daughter Margaret Jean Johnson of Mercer County, two sons: Robert Gibbs of Henderson and Tom Gibbs of Venezuela. Six grandchildren also survive.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bottoms, William

He was the son of the late Aaron L. Bottoms and Nina Burns Bottoms, Mercer County and the husband of Peggy Bottoms. Additional survivors besides his wife and mother include: two sons: Timothy Bottoms and Eric Bottoms, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers: Michael "Bo" Bottoms, Mercer County and Kenny Bottoms, Harrodsburg; one sister: Linda Hager and her husband Wayne, Harrodsburg and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was a former member of the Kentucky National Guard.

He was a Harrodsburg High School custodian and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He was a University of Kentucky and NASCAR Fan and enjoyed fishing and western movies.

Medley, Phyllis Ellen

Phyllis Ellen Medley age 59, widow of Robert Medley, Sr. of Harrodsburg, died Thursday September 8, 2005 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born at Shakertown October 17, 1945 to the late Arthur Ray and Flonnie Godbey Byrd. A member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and a former employee of Stone Manor Motel. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved animals.

Survivors include two sons: Charles Boswell and his wife Cindi of Harrodsburg, Robert Medley of Harrodsburg. Two daughters: Dennia Loudin of Seymour, Indiana and Amy Wagers, Seymour, Indiana. Three brothers: Joseph Byrd of Harrodsburg, Jerry Byrd of Harrodsburg and David Byrd of Harrodsburg. One Sister Janice Turner and husband James of Danville. Thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by one son Scott Allen Medley and one brother Dennis Beryl Byrd.

Funeral services will be conducted by Bro, James Harley at12:00 noon on Monday September 12, 2005 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Overton, Mark Wayne

Mark Wayne Overton 43, of Mt. Sterling formerly of Nicholasville died Friday September 2, 2005 in Ohio of an apparent heart attack. He was born March 24, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio to Bob and Mary Overton of Summerfield, Florida, formerly of Nicholasville, KY. Mark attended Jessamine County High School the class of 1981. He was employed for several years at the Ben Franklin Store in Edgewood Plaza Nicholasville that his family owned. At the time of his death he was employed at Kroger in Mt. Sterling and Keenland.

Mark lived life to the fullest and went where ever his passions took him. His favorite two places were Kentucky and Panama City Beach, Florida. An avid Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved the music of Jimmy Buffet and his dear friends the Poptart Monkeyes. Mark’s love of life, sweet spirit and easy going nature will always be remembered by his devoted family and friends. Additional survivors include two brothers: Mike Overton of Carrabelle, Florida, Brad Overton and his wife Shelly of Marietta, Georgia. One nephew Joshua Overton of Denver, Colorado, two nieces: Ariel and Lauren of Marietta, Georgia. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 10, 2005 at the Fellowship Hall of Edgewood Baptist Church 717 South Main Street Nicholasville, Larry Goldie will be officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Nicholasville Rotary Club Scholarship Fund.

Matthews, Talt "Junior"

Survivors include his parents: Ben and Mary Matthews Medley, Harrodsburg; four daughters: Jeannie Bruner and her husband, Aaron, Pennie Votaw and Jason Sadler, Mindy Matthews and Scottie Raley, Cindy Matthews and Steven Sadler all of Harrodsburg; one brother: Eddie Matthews, Liberty; one sister: Shelia Bryant and her husband, Walter, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts and one great nephew.

Born April 13, 1955 in Garrard County, he was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a former employee of Stone Manor Restaurant and Shelby’s Heating & Air Conditioning. He collected model cars, fire trucks and was an artist.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday September 2, 2005 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bryce McCulley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Eddie Matthews, Billy Votaw, Hubert “Pudden” Peavler, Kenny Griffin, Arnett Griffin and John Boy Phillips serving as pallbearers and Henry Sims, Billy Phillips, Aaron Bruner, Jason Sadler, Scottie Raley, Steven Sadler and Arnold Meeks serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of the service on Friday.
