She was the widow of Marshall Simpson, Jr., the daughter of the late Cecil and Ida Mae Breeding. Survivors include: three sons: Ronnie Simpson, Jeff Simpson and his wife, Tammy, and Stevie Simpson, all of Harrodsburg, three daughters: Betty Murphy and her husband, Jack, Harrodsburg, Joyce Hill, Danville and Charlotte Lane and her husband, Larry, Harrodsburg; three brothers: Elwood Breeding and his wife Elizabeth, Springfield, Homer Breeding and his wife Dorthy, Louisville and Eugene Breeding and his wife, Ruby, Springfield; two sisters: Juanita McMichael, Springfield, Beulah Coulter, Bardstown ; twenty-five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Jr. Simpson, Billy Simpson; one brother: Cecil Breeding and two sisters: Ella Frances Breeding and Lorene Tingle Breeding.

She had worked as a housekeeper for many families and was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed yard sales, gardening, canning and cooking.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Geurin and Bro. Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Jerry Bugg, Jodie Simpson, Rickey Simpson, David Baker, Jarrod Baker and Billy Hollar serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be: 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

He was the husband of Elaine Tarry and the son of Roberta Puckett Tarry of Paducah and the late Joe E. Tarry. Additional survivors besides his wife and mother include: one son: Joe E. Tarry, IV of Murray; one daughter: Elizabeth Crowe, and her husband, John of Ann Arbor, Michigan; one brother: Charles Tarry of Paducah; two step-sons: Wayne Perkins, and his wife, Sharon of Williamsburg and Dr. Eddie Perkins, also of Williamsburg; three grandchildren: Cameron Crowe, Julia Crowe and Grace Crowe; one nephew: Stephen Tarry and one niece: Jennifer Tarry.

Bachelor of Music Education from Murray State College, Bachelor of Church Music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Masters of Music from George Peabody College for Teachers, PHD in Music from Florida State University, Lexington Theological Seminary

United Presbyterian Church Minister, a member of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, Director of the Ragged Edge Community Theatre and a member of the Harrodsburg Historical Society. Dr. Tarry was a Retired Music Professor and Head of the Music Department from Cumberland College.

Tyler, Lillian Hunter Collier

She was born in Mercer County March 17, 1934 to the late Brack and Zannar McGinnis Collier.

She was the widow of Curtis Tyler. Survivors include three sons: Dennis Tyler (Sharon), Chuck Tyler (Darlene) and John David Tyler (Bobbi) all of Mercer County. One sister Elizabeth Scott of Temperance, Michigan also survives. Seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and thirteen great grand children survive. She was preceded in death by one brother Belve Collier, three sisters Lee Ora Tyler, Alma Isham and Violet Steele.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday July 10, 2006 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Interment will be in Kirkwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. on Sunday and after 7:00 A.M. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Pierce, Hugh

He was the husband of Ann Pierce, Harrodsburg, and the son of the late Hugh F. Pierce and Lola Tarter Pierce. Additional survivors besides his wife include: four sons: Hugh Pierce, Jr. and his wife, Linda, New Jersey, Robert W. Pierce and his wife, Deborah, Frankfort, Roger D. Pierce and his wife, Christina, Lexington and David B. Pierce and his wife, Anni, Harrodsburg; one daughter: Linda C. Inman and her husband, Mike, Salvisa; two brothers: Charles Pierce, Somerset and Russell Pierce, Jamestown; one sister: Mavis Wesley, Somerset, fourteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Josephine Landers, Ruth Molden, Mabel Thompson and Willie Ard.

He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe and Northern France.

He was a member and deacon of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a retired store manager of Southern States in Harrodsburg and funeral attendant of Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. He was a member of Gideon’s International, Mason, member of Young At Heart Church Club and the Eastern Star.

Additional survivors besides her parents include: one brother: Colin Blake Johnson, Danville; maternal grandmother: Cindy Coffman, Harrodsburg; paternal grandparents: Junior & Joan Sapp, Leitchfield; maternal great-grandparents: Earl & Barbara Pinkston, Danville; paternal great-grandmother: Ruby Burnett, Leitchfield; maternal great- grandparents: Kenneth & Betty Crouch, Danville. She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grand father: Bob Burnett and paternal great-grandparents Denny & Elva Woosley.

He was the husband of 59 years of Oneda Royalty and the son of the late William Moore and Lula Mae Cinnamon Royalty. Additional survivors besides his wife include: one son: Doug (Eleanor) Royalty of Lexington; two daughters: Vickie (Tony) McGuire, Harrodsburg and Sandy(Joey)Hardin, Burgin; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son: E. Thomas Royalty; two sisters: Sadie Risinger and Marzetta Murphy and three brothers: G.W. Royalty, Alfred Royalty and Bobby Gene Royalty.

He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army.

He was a retired Kentucky Utilities employee and a member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V., he enjoyed hunting, fishing, westerns, CMT, spending time with his grandchildren, collecting arrowheads and gardening.

Survivors include: one son: Joe (Diane) Freeman, Burgin; one daughter: Margaret Freeman (Jerry) Gullett, Harrodsburg; two brothers: Bobby White, Harrodsburg and Homer White, Danville; one sister: Ruby Carroll, Burgin; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and two close friends: Sheryl Hicks and Betty Stratten.

She was a Beaumont Inn employee and a member of Eller’s Memorial Baptist Church.

He was the husband of Judy Nelson Middleton and the son of the late Andrew and Ona Mae Hiter Middleton. Additional survivors besides his wife include: four sons: Billy Middleton, Danny (Tonya) Middleton, Darrell Middleton and Chris Middleton and two daughters: Crystal Noel and Shelly Middleton; two brothers: Raymond (Rose) Middleton and Mickey Middleton; three sisters: Jean Tarter, Rosalee Davis and Jenny Moss; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Donnie Middleton and one sister: Hattie Middleton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a retired Corning Incorporated maintenance employee after 36 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Ida Mae Satterly Sanders. Survivors include: on son: Jimmy (Bonnie) Warner, Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law: Doris Haydon Warner, Lexington; four grandchildren: Sharon (Eric) Garrity, Penny (Derek) Gilpin; Lisa (Bobby) Winchester and Jamie (Jeremy) Smith; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two brothers: Hollis Sanders, Willisburg, Wallace Sanders, Lawrenceburg and one sister: Virginia Dennis, Fairview. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin Warner (1965), her husband: Hubert Gabbert (1984), one son: Rodney Warner; a great-grandson: Kevin Garrity; two sisters: Vanetta Isham and Mary Dorsey; and one brother: William Sanders.

She was salutorian of the of the 1932 senior class of Willisburg High School. During WWII she served her country by working in an airplane factory as a “Rosie the Riveter” in Dekalb, Illinois. She and her husband, Marvin, ran a grocery store in Cornishville for many years. She was an avid gardener and an accomplished homemaker. Her wit, charm and humor earned her many close friends. She was a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Mr. Tony Lee Gray, 64, of Berry Drive, Harrodsburg, husband of Marilyn Graham Gray, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born September 30, 1941 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Gertrude Bailey Gray of Harrodsburg and the late Lonnie Lee Gray. He was retired from Corning, Inc. after 37 years of service. He most recently worked as a Tour Guide at Woodford Reserve in Woodford County. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was also a member of Douglas Laws Post #52 and the American Legion. He was a Baptist, an avid golfer, and enjoyed thoroughbred racing.

Besides his mother and wife, Tony is survived by one son: Shawn Patrick Gray of Lexington, two sisters: Nancy Murphy of Harrodsburg and Glenda (Kenneth) Daugherty of Danville. Three nieces and four nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Larry Short officiating.

Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Jimmy Steele, Larry Short, Kenneth Daugherty, Sr., Ted Loughner, Edward Sleet, Ronnie M. Smith, and Joe Gill serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Pruitt, Sherman Dozier, Marnie Walters, Kathy Wilson, Doug Murphy, Kenneth Daugherty, and Kim Smith.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, September 15 and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Britton, Barbara

Additional survivors besides her husband include: one son: Alan (Laura) Britton, Burgin; three daughters: Reda (Bill) Johnson, Vale, North Carolina, Leniece (Ronnie) Dailey, Harrodsburg and Diana (Bobby Jack) Baker, Harrodsburg; two brothers: William Odell (Betty) Hendren, Harrodsburg and James Cornell (Arnetta) Hendren, Louisville; one sister: Linda Sue Rogers, London; seven grandchildren, one foster grandchild, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was a co-owner of Britton’s Printing Service and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also a former W.M.U. Director and Bohon Election Officer.
