Walter “Doug” Howard Kinder, 80, of Fords Mill Rd., Versailles, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Bluegrass Community Hospital in Versailles. Born July 26, 1926 in Mercer County, he was the son of Thomas Eli and Maudie Ray Harley Kinder. He was a retired farmer, was an accomplished story teller, and most of all very giving and kind-hearted.

Mr. Kinder is survived by his wife Sylvia Ree McKinney Kinder of Versailles, one son: Walter Howard Kinder, Jr. of Versailles. Three daughters: Donna Kinder (Russell) Gardner of Versailles, Barbra Kinder (Phillip) Devers of Midway, and Lisa Kinder (Jeff) Hall of Versailles. Four sisters: Annie Doyle of Lake City, FL., Elizabeth Tatum of Festis Gardens, MO., Nellie Turner of Harrodsburg, and Jewell Satterly of Louisville. Nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Ike, Hollie, James, Buggs, Thomas, Roy, and Dutch Kinder; and three sisters: Vera Connor, Katherine Smith, and Georgie Kinder.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Lakes officiating.

Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Kevin Strange, Cody Strange, Jeff Hall, Troy Thompson, Mitch Keaton, and Vince Kinder serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Kinder, III, Brent Satterly, and Donald Evans.

Mary Katherine Devine, 88, Harrodsburg, widow of James E. Devine died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor. Born April 16, 1918 in Mackville, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Rushie Lee Bottom Tyler. She was homemaker and a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Larry Devine, Harrodsburg; one sister, Betty Mae Murphy, Lexington; one grand-daughter, Kimberly Hope Zimmerman, Houston, Texas; one great-grandson, Andrew Zimmerman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Curtis, Donald and J.C. Tyler and one sister: Sally Ann Hourigan. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Michael Tyler, Morris Tyler, Donald Tyler, Jr., Dennis Tyler, Curtis B. Tyler, Jr. and John David Tyler serving as pallbearers.

He was the husband of Jennifer Abrams, and the son of the late John Rocky and Linda Gail Hunter Potter. Additional survivors besides his wife include: five sons: John Potter, Clayton Potter, and Logan Doss, all of Danville and Chance and Jacob Potter of Harrodsburg; one daughter: Dezarae Doss of Danville; two brothers: Teddy Schultz of Seco, Kentucky and Tony Potter, McRoberts, Ky; two sisters: Tiny Potter of Piney Flats, Tennessee and Debbie Potter of Miami, Florida, several nieces, nephews and his ex-wife: Melissa Doss. He was preceded in death by his brother: Jimmy Potter and his Granny Gertrude.

He was a self employed carpenter and had attended Seco Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.

She was the wife of Les Pease, Harrodsburg, and the daughter of the late Cecil and Elsie Antrim Gregory. Besides her husband, Carol is survived by one daughter Karla Kay Pease of Winterhaven, Fl., and one son Bryan Pease of Naples, Fl. Three grandchildren also survive.

She was a graduate of Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois.

She was presently teaching at Anderson County Schools where she taught Spanish and Drama. She was the past president of the Harrodsburg Women’s Club, a member of Spindletop Hall, and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. Carol loved producing plays for the Drama Club and riding and raising American Saddlebred Horses.

She was the widow of James Creath Dean and the daughter of James Cornelius and Ida Sandra Hellard Adkinson. Survivors include three daughters: Darlene (Jerry) Wiggins, DeKalb, Illinois; Jackie (Dick) Rains, Canton, Georgia and Sandra (Russ) Russell, Harrodsburg; one sister: Rosalyn Wilson, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special caregiver: Pearl Chambers. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Thomas Oather Adkinson, Otis Adkinson, Owen Adkinson and Rainie Lee Adkinson; four sisters: Isa Mae Lay, Maudie Catlett, Birdie Hellard, and Blanche Whittinghill; and two grandchildren: Jerri Lynn Wiggins and Robert Andrew Wiggins.

She had been employed by Brody’s Coat Factory, Northern Illinois University, Spurgeon’s Clothing, Chapel Hill Golf Club and Russell’s Greenhouse. A member of Fellowship Baptist Church, she was past president of the Haggin Red Hat Society and enjoyed gardening, needlework, playing rook, playing the piano and singing in the church choir. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed helping others. Her legacy of faith, strength and love will not end, but will be passed on for generations.

She was the widow of Alexandro Salazar and the daughter of the late Pete and Eloise Anthony Ramos. Survivors include: six sons: Robert Salazar, Junction City, Daniel Salazar, Springfield, Missouri, Ricardo Salazar, Georgia, Jesus Salazar, Lafayette, Indiana, Ralph Salazar, Lafayette, Indiana, Roger Salazar, Lafayette, Indiana; two daughters: Gloria Cooper, Birch Run, Michigan and Lydia Stevens, Newtown, Indiana and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Alex Salazar, Jr. and Gilbert Salazar; one daughter: Alicia Salazar; one brother: Ray Ramos and her sisters.

She was a homemaker and attended Greater Harvest Church.

Lawrence Lee Ader, 65, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation. Born June 13, 1941 in Louisville, he was the son of Louis Monroe and Betty McKercher Ader, Jr.

He was a retired Manager with South Central Bell, a 1959 Graduate of Olive Hill High School, a graduate of Georgetown College where he played football and basketball and was awarded the S.E. Cranfell Business Award and the D.A.R. History Award. He was a past member of the Rotary Clubs of Fulton and Middlesboro, past member of the Jaycees in Fulton, was a former Boy Scout Leader in Middlesboro, was a Kentucky Colonel and had played Semi-Professional Basketball for the Birmingham Stars.

Survivors include his son Steven Eric Ader of Crestwood, three daughters: Kimberly Ader of Harrodsburg, Karen Mason of Montgomery, Al., and Erica Gyori of Harrodsburg. One brother James Ader of Berkley, CA., two sisters: Brenda Agee of Crossville, TN., and Peggy Wagner of Russell, Kentucky Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Terry Morrison and Bobby Logue officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Will Gernert, Jennifer Coslow, Benjamin Ader, Zachery Gyori, Virginia Ader, Kate Mason, and Michael Mason serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Garnett Collier, Larry Williams, Johnnie Carr, Richard Capps, Brian Bailey, Levi Bailey, and Daniel Bailey.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006 and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Huntingtons Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, N.Y., 10018.

Frances Louise Alsept, 53, of Central Pike, wife of Jack Alsept died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at her residence. Born February 7, 1953 in Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Genevia Pennington Brown.

She served as Secretary at East Side Auto Sales in Lexington. She enjoyed camping, fishing, working with crafts, and animals.

Besides her husband, Frances is survived by her daughter Kimberly Alsept of Sarasota, Florida, one son: Chad Eric Alsept of Mercer County, and one grandson: Travis Peavler of Burgin.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Butcher, Charles Dale

Charles Dale Butcher, 23, of Redwood Drive, Stanford, husband of L’Acee Marie Shelton Butcher, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 in Stanford. Born January 28, 1983 in Lexington, he was the son of Dale Butcher of Harrodsburg and Mary Ransdell (Michael) Culligan of Harrodsburg. He was a Guest Services Representative with Hampton Inn in Danville and was a United Way Volunteer. Charles will always be remembered as a tender-hearted man who enjoyed computers, music, and making others happy.

Besides his wife and parents, Charles is survived by his unborn son: Skylar Lei Butcher who is expected to be born December 14, 2006. Maternal grandmother Gayle Salyers of Mercer County, paternal grandfather Dave Butcher of Lexington, two sisters: April Yvonne (Wendell Hill) Butcher of Danville and Patricia Butcher of Grant County. One step-sister Sheena Bridgeman of Bassalt, CO., three nephews and three nieces also survive.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Lincoln County.

Inman, Nancy Lou Jenkins

Nancy Lou Jenkins Inman, 77, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, after a short illness. Born November 28, 1929 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lena Jones Jenkins, and the widow of Marion C. Inman. She worked at Cricketeer, and was a retired cashier in the Trustee’s Dining Room at the Inn at Shaker Village. She was a partner and bookkeeper in Farmer’s Elevator, Inc., and in her husband’s other many business interests, including farming, real estate development, and a rental property business. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a former President of the Mercer County High School PTA.

She is survived by four sons, Marion Ray (Sandra) of Mercer County, John (Sue) of Shelbyville, Mike (Linda) of Salvisa and Larry (Rita) of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mary Bennett of Louisville and Diane Cornish of Harrodsburg; four brothers, William Dudley Jenkins, James Donald Jenkins, Bennie Lee Jenkins (all of Danville), and Lonnie Russell Jenkins (Mercer County); ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Franklin, Howard and Lawrence Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Bros. John David Lay and Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wes Inman, James Inman, Eric Inman, Brian Inman, Chris McGinnis, Rich Mundell, and Brian Lay. Honorary pallbearers will be Aimee Inman McGinnis, Leslie Inman, Leonna Inman Lay, Nicki Inman Mundell, Lyndsey Inman, and Ann Inman. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 1821 University Ave. W., Ste. S256, St. Paul, MN. 55104-2897.

Erminy Chumbley, 73, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at her residence in Harrodsburg. Born January 12, 1934 in Dixville, she was the daughter of the late James and Sally Patterson Hatchell. She was a caregiver and a former Hall-Mack employee for 19 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and enjoyed yard sales. Survivors include her daughter, Angela Smith and her husband, Brian of Harrodsburg, one grand-daughter, Lauren Smith of Harrodsburg and her special friend Teddy Devine. She was preceded in death by one grand-daughter, Brianne Smith, two sisters, Betty Farney and Jewell Moore and one brother, William M. Hatchell.

Mrs. Sue Anderson Terhune, 85, wife of Earl Terhune died Monday at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born May 24, 1921 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Camilus and Edna Hayden Gillespie. She was retired from the Mercer County Senior Citizens and had formerly worked for twenty years at Genesco. She was a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church, loved collecting dolls, piecing quilts and collecting cream pitchers.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Terhune is survived by two sons: Elvin (Evie) Anderson of Perryville and James C. Anderson of Harrodsburg. Three daughters: Linda Myers of Ashton, IL., Bea Beasley of Harrodsburg, and Edith (Bob) Lee of Danville. One sister: Inez Lynch of Georgia. Five grandchildren, one step-grandson, seven great-grandchildren, and four great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers Haydon, Henry, Elmo, and Camilus Gillespie, Jr., one sister, Bea Peavler and one grandson, Rodney Divine.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Mathew Atha officiating. Burial will be in Peters Cemetery, Mackville.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. the day of the service at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
