Betty B. Coffman, 70, Harrodsburg, widow of Virgil Coffman, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born December 7, 1936 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Ora Russell Burns. She was a retired employee of Cricketeer Mfg. and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, fishing and playing rook. Survivors include: one son: Terry Baker (Becky Laws), Lexington, NC; two daughters: Jackie Long, Harrodsburg, and JoEtta (Jeff) McCrystal, Harrodsburg; one sister: Nina Bottoms, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother, Kenneth Burns preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Walter officiating. Burial will be in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Michael (Bo) Bottoms, Kenny Bottoms, Michael Lunsford, Aaron Bottoms, Timothy Bottoms and Eric Bottoms serving as pallbearers and Jeremy Baker, Josh Long, Alex McCrystal and Mollie Baker serving as honorary pallbearers.

Lyons, Mary M.

Mary M. Lyons, 78, widow of Charlie Lyons, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at her residence. Born November 11, 1928 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Grant and Melinda Jane Right Thornton. She was a homemaker and attended the Harrodsburg Community Church. Survivors include one daughter Sue Lyons Robinson of Mercer County and two sons: Robert Lyons and Roger Lyons both of Mercer County. Eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren twelve nieces, and twelve nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Nettie Frances Feltz, 81, of Cynthiana widow of Glen Howard Feltz, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Georgetown Community Hospital. Born December 13, 1925 in Cornishville, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Matherly Gully. She was a graduate of Nursing School in Houston, Texas, enjoyed walking and latchhook sewing. She had worked as a Registered Nurse and Homemaker.

Survivors include two sons: Edward James (Laura) Feltz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mitchell Wayne (Anna) Feltz of Georgetown. Three daughters: Shelia Dolan of Perryville, Glenda Maria Feltz of Cynthiana, and Ethel Mae Burchett of Raymondville, Mo. One sister Roberta Bauer of Davis, IL., eighteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Belinda Feltz and a sister Lavina Robinson.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Gary Stith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Mike Sims, Mike Sims, II, David Dolan, John Sims, Jonathan Burchett, and Richard Dolan serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Burchett, Heath Doyle, Matthew Doyle, Jarrod Feltz, and James Feltz.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

George W. Ellers 76, of Harrodsburg died Saturday May 12, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Corbin, KY to the late Dr. G. W. Ellers and Mildred Caress Ellers. He attended Campbellsville College, served in the United States Air Force, served 30 years with Penn Central Conrail Rail Road. A former employee of Chrysler, and a 10 year employee Cayuga County Highway Department in Auburn New York. He served as a lay minister in Central New York, and a member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons Dr. Steven L. Ellers Kerrville, Texas, Chester Hoffman Hanibal New York, daughter Shirley Bracey Weedsport, New York. Brother Jonathan Ellers Kokomo, Indiana, Two sisters Mildred Arens Harrodsburg and Miriam Copp Columbia City, Indiana.

Three brothers James Richard Ellers, William Russell Ellers and Frank W. Ellers preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday May 15, 2007 at Shawnee Run Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Neal and Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Scottie Anderson, Bob Peyton, Billy Minton, Ron Bradford, Donnie Webb and Michael Higginbothom will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dorothy Devine Releford 68, of Harrodsburg died Friday May 11, 2007 at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1938 in Mercer County to the late George A. and Laura Elizabeth Carey Devine. She was a homemaker and member of Dry Branch Baptist Church. Her hobbies included fishing and bingo.

Survivors include Cleo C. Releford Harrodsburg, four brothers William B. Devine, Leon Devine and Jimmy Devine all of Harrodsburg. Carlos Devine Perryville, KY. Two sisters Marie Tackett and Betty Peavler both of Harrodsburg , One daughter-in-law Jessie Releford, two grandchildren Jessica Combs (Jeremy) and Eric Releford both of Harrodsburg. One great grandchild Payton MaKinley Combs, aunt Margaret Ann Proctor Harrodsburg. Three children David Lynn Releford, Elizabeth Ann and David Allen Releford and on brother R. D. Devine preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday May 15, 2007 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Releford and Bro. Leroy Releford officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Dud Releford, Steve Releford, Rickey Releford, Ronnie Peavler, Scott Releford, Onise Alsman, Derek Releford and Robbie Wilham serving as pallbearers.

Visitation 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. Monday and 7:00 A.M. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Joseph Huston Hayslett, 65, of Burgin, husband of Elizabeth Lewis Hayslett, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born July 4, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of Hester McKinney Hayslett of Burgin and the late Robert James Hayslett. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church, and enjoyed woodworking and reading.

Besides his mother and wife, Joe is survived by his son Lt. Col. Joseph H. Hayslett, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Guam, one daughter Elizabeth Jean Fogakoldyke and her husband Daniel of Indiana. Three brothers: Robert and his wife Virginia Hayslett of Cornishville, Ira Hayslett of Burgin and William and his wife Barbara Hayslett of Tennessee. Six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one step great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by one sister Zelma Jean Hayslett.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye and Bro. Donnie Releford officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Richard Cheak, G.T. Shannon, Jerry Gray, Jack Murphy, Bobby Hayslett, and Ira Hayslett serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buford Allen Watts, Donnie French, Eugene Humphries, Ethan Humphries, Walter Humphries, Daniel Fogakoldyke, and J.W. Sherrow.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Jimmy Brim, 45, of Boone Street, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. Born September 29, 1961 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ernest Delbert Brim and Beulah Strunk Brim of Harrodsburg. He worked in Pallet Construction and Repair and had also worked for Watts & Durr driving a Gasoline Tanker. He was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Besides his mother, Jimmy is survived by his two sons Ben Lindsey of Harrodsburg and James Lindsey of Lebanon. One daughter Brandia Lindsey Clavijo of Harrodsburg, one brother Johnny Brim of Harrodsburg, one sister Brenda (Ernie) Brim of Stanford, two granddaughters Isabella and Alyssia Clavijo both of Harrodsburg, two nephews Jason Watts and Zachary Hale and one niece Sarah Watts. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ernest Delbert Brim, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Logue officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mr. Delmas R. Schell 62, husband of Virginia Logue Schell, of Lawrenceburg died Thursday May 3, 2007 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1944 in Laurel County to the late Otis and Nannie Mae Parman Schell. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, enjoyed cars, spending time with his family and gospel music. He was also a retired apartment manager.

Additional survivors include three sons: Donnie (Jane) Sims of Lawrenceburg, Larry (Darlene) Sims of Harrodsburg, and Gary (Becky) Sims of Salvisa. One daughter Judy (Norman) Ledford of Paris, KY, three brothers: Otis Eugene Schell of Indianapolis, Lester Schell and Tim Schell both of Lawrenceburg. One sister Ruby (Laughlin) Rice of Frankfort, nine grandchildren: Becky McGinnis, Lauren Ledford, Corey Reed Sims, Clay Yocum, Lance Sims, Jenifer Sims, Jessie Rose, Steve Hill and Chris Harrod. One great granddaughter Jordan McGinnis several nieces and nephews also survive.

One granddaughter Dana Leigh Sims preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday May 7, 2007 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Bro. Steve Broughton. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Donnie Sims, Larry Sims, Gary Sims, Clay Yocum, Brent McGinnis, Cory Sims, Lance Sims, Norman Ledford, Troy Thompson and Glenn Coulter serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lauren Ledford, Jordan McGinnis, Becky McGinnis, Jennifer Yocum, Ashley Sims, Bridgett Sims and Jenifer Sims.

Visitation will be held Sunday 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and after 7:00 A.M. Monday until the hour of service at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Anderson County Senior Citizens Center, 160 Township Square, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

James “Jim” Price Collier, II, 27, Burgin died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born October 6, 1979 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of James Price Collier, II of Casey County and Lori Logue of Burgin. He was self employed and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mechanical things, grilling out and spending time with his family and friends.

Additional survivors besides his parents include: paternal grandparents Garnett (Duck) and Dororthy Collier, Harrodsburg; maternal grandfather and step-grandmother: J.T. and Elaine Logue, Harrodsburg, maternal grandmother: Brenda Brandt, one sister: Amy Cundiff and her husband, Joseph of Burgin, Matt & Micah Richards and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse and Greg Collier officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Jeff Watts, Josh Long, Mike Hensley, Stevie Releford, Jason Wilson, Stevie Settles, and Eric Gilbert serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Robert F. “Bobby” Peavler, 57, of Harrodsburg, husband of Dianne Springate Peavler, died Friday at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 21, 1950 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Emma Jean Peavler of Harrodsburg and the late Paul W. Peavler. He was retired after working Twenty-Five Years at Modine. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads, and straight razors.

Besides his wife and mother, Bobby is survived by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Julie Peavler of Harrodsburg, three sons: Tony (Della) Peavler of Horse Cave, Brent (Becky) Peavler of Harrodsburg, and Thomas (Nina) Peavler of Nicholasville. One step-son Todd (Mariann) Ransdell of Burgin, two step-daughters: Stacy (Dave) Reister and Christy (Brett) Cheek both of Harrodsburg. Two brothers: Paul Wayne (Vickie) Peavler of Salvisa and Steve (Gloria) Peavler of Danville. One sister: Shirlene (Keith) Reed of Harrodsburg, twelve grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Greg Warren officiating. Burial will be in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Elwood Byrd, Ronnie Cole, Fred Bottoms, Glen Walker, Mike Carrier, David Devine, Larry Devine, and Mark McGrath serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lainhart, Steven Wayne Sagracy, Todd Sagracy, and Jason Peavler.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mrs. Diann Jenkins Cornish, 61, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born January 26, 1946 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lena Jones Jenkins. She was a 1964 Graduate of Mercer County High School, a Corning Glass Employee for Thirty-Seven Years where she was store-room clerk, and was a member of the Shakertown Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Glenda Ann (Chad) Gingrich of Ft. Knox, one sister Mary (Jack) Bennett of Louisville, four brothers: William Dudley (Doris) Jenkins, James Donald (Patsy) Jenkins, Bennie Lee (Linda) Jenkins all of Danville and Lonnie Russell (Nancy) Jenkins of Mercer County. Two grandchildren: Trevor and Meghan Gingrich both of Ft. Knox, a special friend Herb Proctor of Mercer County, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister Nancy Lou Jenkins Inman and three brothers Franklin, Howard, and Lawrence Jenkins.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Russell Jenkins, Paul Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins, Marion Ray Inman, Mike Inman, John Inman, Larry Inman, Perry Buchanan, and Freddie Logsdon serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Corning Glass.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mercer Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 411, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 and/or The National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
