Marion Rosalyn Wilson, 92, widow of Maurice E. “Jack” Wilson, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 27, 1915 she was the daughter of the late J.C. and Ida Hellard Adkinson. She was a retired Model Laundry employee and was a member of Cornishville Christian Church. She loved Kentucky Basketball, flowers and children. Survivors include her many nieces and nephews and she was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Galilean Children’s Home, P.O. Box 880, Liberty, Kentucky 40259.

Mr. William Thomas “Tom” Hager, 65, husband of Gail Sandlin Hager, of Burgin, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at his residence. Born June 25, 1942 in Burgin, he was the son of the late Luther and Suella Owens Hager. He was a farmer, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church and attended Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, Tom is survived by his son Thomas (Shannon) Hager of Harrodsburg and his daughter Sara (Todd) Bisher of Lancaster. One sister Sue Evelyn (George) Day of Lancaster, three grandchildren: Will Hager, Brooke Hager and Braedon Bisher also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Weldon officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Ron Hayes, Ernie Holt, Roger Sandlin, Bob Lynn, George Day, Jason Bisher, Connie Phillips, and Bill Oliver serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack and Judy Preston.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Marshall Phillips, 69, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at his residence. He was the son of the late Reed and Stella Smith Phillips. Survivors include brothers, sisters and nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at the Spring Hill Cemetery. Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Pauline McGrath, 71, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 20, 1937 in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late Paul C. Corman and Mary Drury Corman Claunch. She was a retired custodian for Harrodsburg Independent School System and was a charter member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons: Ronnie (Marlene) McGrath, Mark (Melissa) McGrath, and John McGrath all of Harrodsburg. One brother James R. Corman of Harrodsburg, two sisters: Dorothy (Garnett) Collier and Jane Corman Ader both of Harrodsburg. Six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Benjamin Jasper McGrath.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 26, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bobby Logue officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Ted M. Kirkpatrick, 57, husband of Donna Hoover Kirkpatrick, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born January 15, 1951 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Elmer Lee and Ethel King Kirkpatrick. He was a retired self-employed carpenter, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietname War, and a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church. Ted enjoyed collecting G-Scale Trains, playing his guitar and reading his Bible.

Besides his wife, Ted is survived by his son Richard Dale (Sondra) Kirkpatrick of Cornishville, three daughters: Tabatha Jean (Brian) Lewis of Lexington, Mellissa (Alvin) Buck of Cornishville, and Elizabeth Ashley (Josh) Collier also of Cornishville. One brother Connie (Marsha) Kirkpatrick of Rose Hill, five sisters: Toni Holt of Harrodsburg, Ida Mae Peavler of Dayton, OH., Joann Price of North Carolina, Eunice Deaton of Harlan County, and Jackie Purcell of California. Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Neal officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Richard Kirkpatrick, Connie Kirkpatrick, Brian Lewis, Phillip Kirkpatrick, Alvin Buck, Josh Collier, Patrick Holt, and Jackie Satterly serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class at Shawnee Run Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of service at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.

Hazel Lee Watts, 95, of Harrodsburg, widow of Lebus Watts, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born December 10, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Lafe and Sally Oldham Harlow. She was a retired waitress and cook having worked at Murphy’s Truck Stop and Stone Manor. Mrs. Watts was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching U.K. Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, cooking, crocheting, quilting, listening to music, and talking on her C.B. Radio.

Survivors include her daughter Jeanetta (William) Lane of Harrodsburg, three sons: Stanley R. Watts, Earl (Anna) Watts, and Ronald D. Watts all of Harrodsburg. Ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two step-great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Gary Kirkland, James Ashford, Daniel Moore, Jim McMurtrie, Michael Vah, and Eugene Warner serving as active pallbearers. Great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Artie Jewell Sheperson, 78, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 6, 1930 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Beulah Moore Sallee. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Charles Harmon and Franklin Dane Goodlett, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter: Monty Devine of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren: Tony Harmon, Dawn Sternik, Ashley Devine and Jess Devine and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: James, William Herbert and Joe David Sallee and two sisters: Helen Barnett and Virginia Currens.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Mike Sternik, Mike Barnett, Jess Devine, Tony Devine, Mike Matherly, and Tony Harmon serving as pallbearers.

Evelyn Young Mattingly, 74, wife of J.W. Mattingly, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born April 26, 1933 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Elwood Young and Mattie Frances Elliott Votaw. She was retired from Modine and a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Evelyn enjoyed crafts, collecting and restoring dolls, crocheting, and collecting various recipes.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons: Jack Mattingly and Steve Mattingly, both of Harrodsburg. Two sisters: Nancy Yeast and Norma Martin both of Harrodsburg. Four granddaughters: Stephanie Rawlings, Shannon Mattingly, Danielle Sheperson, and Noelle Brodeur. Twelve great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Young and one brother-in-law Kenny Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Hughes and Bro. Robert Barton officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Jack Mattingly, Steve Mattingly, Scott Sheperson, Travis Stephens, Danny Rawlings, and Shawn Brodeur serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rosella Shewmaker Lawson, 77, wife of Marvin Lawson, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at St. Joseph East in Lexington. Born May 1, 1930 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Effie Mae Yeast Shewmaker. She was a homemaker and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville. She enjoyed crocheting, sports, especially basketball and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors other than her husband include one son: Marvin Lynn (Julia) Lawson of Interlachen, Florida; three daughters: Deborah (Hubert) Peavler, Darlene (Eddie) Bast, and Marlene (Ronnie) McGrath all of Harrodsburg; one sister: Elva Oldham, of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: Merlin Shewmaker; two sisters: Ethia Bussell and her twin sister: Marcella Burns.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Mark Eastman, Adam Curtsinger, Matthew McGrath, Michael Ryan, Tommy Barnett, Stephanie McGrath and Patrick Bast serving as pallbearers and great grand-children serving as honorary pallbearers.

Alfred “Sergeant D” D’Ambrosio, 79, widower of Ella Hall D’Ambrosio, died Saturday, February 09, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor. Born August 31, 1928 in North Haven, Connecticut he was the son of the late Valentino and Jennie Desimone D’Ambrosio. He was a Retired National Guard Recruiter serving Mercer, Anderson and Franklin Counties, had served in the United States Army, Air Force and Navy and was of the Catholic Faith. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons: Joseph D’Ambrosio of Harrodsburg and John D’Ambrosio of New Jersey; step-daughter: Julia Clark Harrod of Frankfort; one sister-in-law: Phyllis Ursini D’Ambrosio of New Haven, Connecticut and two grandsons: Jacob Clark Harrod and Michael John D’Ambrosio. He was preceded in death by his brother Alphonse Vincent and sisters, Mary and Carmella.

T.C. Claunch, 66, husband of Patsy Cummins Claunch died Friday, February 08, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 12, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Willie B. and Rosemary Devine Claunch. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and the U.S. Army Reserves, the American Legion, a member of the Grace Baptist Church where he also served as Elder, was a Kentucky Colonel, was retired Supervisor and Department Head at Corning Glass after more than thirty four years, and was presently working at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

T.C. was very active in Mercer County Schools Sports, where he had also served on many committees with the school system and had been involved in Little League Basketball for sixteen years. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, especially Mercer Girls Basketball.

Survivors other than his wife include one son Todd (Chris) Claunch of Harrodsburg, four daughters: Carmen (Chris) Souder of Harrodsburg, Marta (Brandon) Robins of Harrodsburg, April (Joe) Pellegrino of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Michelle (Lynn) Russell of Burgin. Eleven grandchildren: Chrystal, Thad, Tex, Catheryne, Carli, Connor, Tanner, Seygan, Alexa, Brody, and Megan. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kelli Claunch, half brother Tony Claunch, step-brother Carroll Hurst, and step mother Grace Russell Hurst Claunch.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier and Bro. Bill Eldridge officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Dion Long, Travis Long, Dantley Long, Jeff Anderson, Michael Anderson, Josh Devine, and Jimmy Ray Claunch serving as pallbearers.

Ruth Elizabeth Jones, of Harrodsburg, widow of Lucien E. Jones died Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born August 15, 1950 in Harrodsburg she was the daughter of Mary Willis Young of Harrodsburg and the late Cassius Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of the Greater Life Apostolic Church. Ruth enjoyed music, movies, shopping, talking on the telephone and reading her Bible.

Besides her mother, Ruth is survived by three daughters Margueritta Jones, Jessica Jones, and Linda Jones all of Harrodsburg; four sisters: Arthenia Douglas of Louisville, Tonya Young of Lexington, Francine Jones of Harrodsburg and Aquila Young of Harrodsburg; six brothers: Jeremiah Young of Versailles, Emmanuel Young of Danville, Mel Young of Danville, Arthur William Allen of Harrodsburg, Bill Allen of Harrodsburg, and Bobby Charles Allen of California. Ruth also leaves behind her two dogs Todd and Skylar.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 at the Greater Life Apostolic Church with Bro. Randy Myers officiating. Burial will be in Maple Gove Cemetery with Manuel Young, Jeremiah Young, Bill Allen, Bentley Jones, Arthur Allen, Curtis Majors, Mel Young, and William Bartleson serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Greater Life Apostolic Church.
