Marshall Yeast, 95, widower of Mary Simpson Yeast, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor. Born August 10, 1912 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Tom and Mattie Hendren Yeast. He was a mechanic and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and former Sunday school teacher. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include one daughter, Lavon Brown and her husband, James D. of Harrodsburg; two brothers: Ernest Yeast of Alton and Shirley Yeast of Cardwell; two sisters: Artie Ross of Washington County, and Annelle Ross of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren: Donnie (Denise) Burke, Vonna Whitenack and Robin (Tim) Kidd; two step-grandchildren: James Brown, Jr. and Steven Brown; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Arvonna Smith; two brothers: Russell Yeast and Loys Yeast and one sister: Hadgie Ross.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with burial in the Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Diana L. Mull, 60, wife of Harold Mull, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 6, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Marion Nygard Abrahamsen. She had been a book keeper for the Internal Revenue Service and was co-creator of Hearts A Fire Outreach Ministry.

Besides her husband, Diana is survived by her daughter Kimberly Mull of Harrodsburg, one brother Keith D. Abrahamsen of Jackson, TN., four nephews and four nieces.

A Celebration of Diana’s Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Slatten officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Kenneth L. Jackson, 54, husband of Clara Jackson and father of Shannon Lee Jackson, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born December 28, 1953 in Lexington, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Lee Ora Gibson Jackson. He had worked at IBM for twenty-four years and was the owner of Jackson Repair Shop. He was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed mules, goat farming and model airplanes.

Additional survivors besides his wife, son and parents include is daughter-in-law, Dana Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters: Robin Cecil and her husband, Jimmy and Shelly Lynn, all of Harrodsburg and several nieces, nephews and uncles and aunts.

He was preceded in death by one son: Kenneth Lee Jackson, Jr.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Ervin Esh and Enos Martin officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Brian Mangum, Logan Lynn, Ira Puckett, Scott Patton, Steve Wehunt, Mike Barnhill, Jimmy Jackson and Todd Elliott serving as pallbearers and members of the KY Trail Blazers serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the KY Diabetes. Association.

Elsie Riley, 86, widow of J.D. Riley, died Wednesday April 16, 2008 at her residence. Born May 23, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Valentine and Laura Beatley Medley. She was a homemaker and enjoyed yard work and gardening her flowers.

Survivors include five daughters: Shirley Cooley of Harrodsburg, Jean Dennis of Harrodsburg, Brenda Riley of Lexington, Betty Jo Finley of Junction City, and Debra Mink of Harrodsburg. One son Danny Riley of Florida, three sisters: Ann Hollingsworth of Florida, Mary Elliott and Judy Riley both of Lexington. One brother Ben Medley of Harrodsburg, twenty three grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers Buck, Billy, and Bobby Medley.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Bruners Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Doug Vandiver officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Cooley, John Cooley, Joseph Cooley, Nick Mink, Cory Mink, Brandon Mink, Rodney Finley and Nelson Finley.

No visitation will be held. Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey Alan Mayes age 46 formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday April 10, 2008 at his residence in Piedmont, AL. He was born August 29, 1961 to the late Glave and Grace Sharp Mayes. A graduate of Harrodsburg High School and had attended Morehead State University. Jeff loved show horses and hackney ponies, associated with the Junior League Horse Show in Lexington for a number of years. He was an auctioneer. A member of Pioneer Baptist Church and he attended Dailey Street Baptist Church in Piedmont, AL.

Survivors include his wife Carol Belinda Motes, a son Will Mayes of TN, paternal grandmother Mrs. Loraine S. Mayes of Harrodsburg, an aunt Nancy Jenkins of Harrodsburg, one uncle Wm (Bo) Sharp of Lexington and four cousins. One step son Gary Murphy, two step daughters Christal Murphy and Jonie Murphy, eleven step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Caleb Penwell officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Collard, Evelyn Madeline Devine

August 16, 1919 - March 29, 2008

Evelyn Madeline Devine, 88, of Louisville, widow of Thomas Delmar Collard died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. Born August 16, 1919 in Mercer County she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Laura Tyler Devine. She attended Campbellsville College and was a teacher for six years in Mercer County. She retired from the Federal Reserve Bank and was a member of their 25-Year Club. She was member of Eastern Parkway Baptist Church and more recently attended Audubon Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Thomas (Ardeana) Collard of Louisville; one daughter: Darlene (James) Jackson of Louisville; one brother: Jewell Devine of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter: Heather Collard and several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. John Lott officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mr. Cash White, 76, of Harrodsburg, husband of Irene Baker White, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born January 10, 1932 in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ada Conner White. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a self employed fence builder and was a member of the Bohon Road Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and R.A. Leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching drag racing and NASCAR.

Besides his wife, Mr. White is survived by two sons: Robert (Melva) White of Harrodsburg and Tony (Vickie) White of Lawrenceburg. One daughter Brenda (Leslie) Taylor of Harrodsburg, one brother Joe (Alice) White of Mercer County, two sisters: Dorothy Bugg of Danville and Anna White of Mitchellsburg. Ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by one son Kenneth Cash White, a grandson Robert Evann White, one granddaughter Robin Michelle White, and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Bohon Road Baptist Church with Bro. Ken Calia officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Adam White, Jimmy Cash White, Sarah Hahn, Amy White, Brooke Worthington, Rebekah Eldridge, Margaret White, and Steve Pittman serving as pallbearers. Eva Sanford, Bell White, Allie White, Logan White, Katie White, Devann White, Austin White, Dalton Hahn, Madison Hahn, Jeff Sanford, Dustin Sanford, Emily Worthington, Noah Worthington, Kayleigh White, Robert Evann White, Hunter White, and Kassie Sanford will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bohon Road Baptist Church.

Shirley Ann Keebortz, 70, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Richmond Health & Rehabilitation-Madison in Richmond. Born March 26, 1937 in Mercer County she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Matilda Dennis Keebortz. She served as First Lieutenant in the Philippines for the United States Air Force, attended the University of Kentucky and was a graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She was a retired James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Registered Nurse and lectured at the UK College of Nursing. Her hobbies included needle pointing, reading and collecting Christmas ornaments.

Survivors include one brother, Eulice (Geraldine) Keebortz of Lexington and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Lawrence, Joseph William “Buddy” and Walter Keebortz.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with burial in the Wilmore Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Bessie Louise Spurlock Burns, 91, wife of sixty eight years to Ambrose Burns, Jr., of Burgin died Saturday March 15, 2008 at her residence. Born April 1, 1916 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Alice Davidson Spurlock. She was a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Church of God.

Besides her husband, survivors include three sons: Jennings (Janice) Burns of Harrodsburg, Robert (Lillian) Burns of London, and Gary (Patricia) Burns of Tyner. One daughter Phyllis (Donnie) Irvin of Burgin, one sister: Viola Webb of Hope, IN., one sister-in-law Loretta Spurlock of Vevay, IN., nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Burgin Church of God with Bro. Donnie Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Todd Burns, Andy Burns, Donnie Irvin, Travis Irvin, Dustin Mosko, and Cecil Riley serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday and will continue until the hour of service at the Burgin Church of God.

Lance Reed, 85, of Stanford, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born April 6, 1922 in Letcher County, he was the son of the late Shelly Meade. He was retired from Brown and Williams Tobacco Company and was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter Anna (Bill) Elliott of Lancaster, four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, six great grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Bobby Gene and Harold “Poochie” Reed and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Ernest Lear officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
