Ralph M. Pinkston, 69, husband of Nancy Benge Pinkston, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born October 14, 1939 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James E. and Janie Drury Pinkston. He was retired from H&B Sanitation. Ralph enjoyed collecting die cast cars and knives and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors besides his wife include his step daughter Yuvonne Benge Wesley of Harrodsburg; four stepsons Ronnie McElroy and Donnie McElroy of Danville, Andrew McElroy of Lincoln County, and Cecil McElroy of Hustonville. Two brothers Johnnie (Debbie) Pinkston of Burgin and J.L. (Sara) Pinkston of Danville. One sister Shirley Crews of Harrodsburg, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one step-son James McElroy and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Chris Cox, Jamie Benham, Jamie Brummett, Chad Pinkston serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mullins, Nancy Carole

Interment: Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford

Nancy Carole Mullins, 73 died Saturday February 21, 2009 at the Glasgow State Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. Born October 5, 1935 in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late William Walter and Nannie Mae Hall Mullins. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her daughter Billie Carole Downey Hullings and husband Richard of Harrodsburg; one son Chester Downey, III and wife Gwen of Camden, Arkansas; a former husband Chester Downey, Jr. of Prescott Valley, Arizona, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two nephews, and several aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Nancy Kristina Downey, one son Timothy William Walter Downey, a granddaughter Heather Ann Oldham, and one brother William Darrell Mullins, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford with Chester Downey, III, Rich Hullings, Richie Hullings, John-Luke Hullings, Daniel Hullings, and Justin Knecht serving as pallbearers.

Warren, Leona Green

Leona Green Warren, 84, widow of Harold Lloyd Warren, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Wolfe County Health Care Center. Born June 19, 1924 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Sam L. and Maude Davis Green, Sr.. She was a Baptist, had been a cook at Beaumont Inn for seven years and a librarian at Powell County Public Library for five years. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

Survivors include three daughters: Debbie (John) Combs of Clay City, Sandy (Chad) Shepherd of Clay City, and D.J. (Greg) Pelster of Lexington. Three sons: Dennis (Christina) Warren of Richmond, Mike (Ruth) Warren of Berea, and Barry Warren of Harrodsburg. One sister Shirley Farris of Riverside, CA., and one brother Jimmy Green of Moberly, MO. Four grandchildren Tara Graham, Nathan Combs, Bridget Shepherd, and Colby Warren, and two great grandchildren Carli Salchli and Ryne Graham, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mavis Ellington and Janice Bettis, and one brother Sam L. Green, Jr.

A private funeral service will be held with John Combs officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with John Combs, Chad Shepherd, Colby Warren, Greg Pelster, Barry Warren, Randy Warren, Mike Warren, Donald Ray Green, and Nathan Combs serving as pallbearers.

Holt, Kathryn

Kathryn Holt, 103, widow of Delbert Holt, Sr., died Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Life Care Center in Bardstown. Born January 3, 1906 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Burlie and Ida Frances Smith King. She was a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church, a former salesperson at Shilito’s and had worked at Wrights Aeronautics in Cincinnati. Mrs. Holt was an avid painter and artist.

Survivors include her son Delbert Holt, Jr. and his wife Dorcas of Harrodsburg. One sister Opal Kentler of Warsaw, Kentucky, three grandchildren: Sandy (Michael) Jossa of Austin, Tx., Woody (Becky) Holt and Audrey Morris all of Harrodsburg. Five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Ida Kathryn Weatherford.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial will be in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin, Kentucky with Jesse Morris, Jamie Long, Joey Holt, Jared Holt, Jimmy Summiner, and Michael Jossa serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Woodson Holt, Glendall Holt, and Tony Curtsinger.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Roger “Dale” Miller, 60, husband of Teresa Ann Miller, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 12, 1949 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Sam and Sarah Baker Miller. He was a retired Auto Body Repairman for Stuart Powell in Danville and owned Dale’s Service Center for over thirty years. Dale was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, a member of the Crossroads Christian Church, he enjoyed auto racing in the Pure Street Class where he won many trophies. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and spending time with his granddaughters, especially when he would take them for rides in his golf cart.

Besides his wife, Dale is survived by one daughter Melissa “Missy” Clark and her husband Phil of Harrodsburg. Two sons: Travis Dale Miller and his wife Ashley of Parksville, and Dustin “Big D” Miller of Harrodsburg. Four sisters: Iva Jewell Reynolds of Harrodsburg, Nancy (Muriel) Settles of Willisburg, Diane (Leon) Spalding of Springfield, and Jane (Clarence) Byrd of Harrodsburg. One brother Ronnie (Linda) Miller of Harrodsburg, three granddaughters: Kaylee Miller, Cheyenne Clark, and Maddie Jane Miller; several nieces and nephews. His “lapdog babies” Sugar, Chewy, and Kizzy also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister Virginia Settles and two brothers David and Jerry T. Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Sims officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg with Travis Miller, Phil Clark, Cody Stumph, Anthony Byrd, Donnie Miller, Joe Paul Spalding, Larry Jean Miller, and Jeff Palmer serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaylee Miller, Cheyenne Clark, Maddie Jane Miller, Donnie Stumph, Gary Stumph, Ronnie Miller, Jim Carmichael, Jim Carmichael, Jr., Joe Byrd, George Buchanan, Cecil Buchanan, and Larry Settles.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Edna R. Price, 85, widow of John Ben Price, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 20, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Frances Montgomery Riley. She was a retired employee of American Greeting, Inc. and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and singing.

Survivors include six sons: John (Linda) Price, Jr., David C. (Julie) Price, Owen Glen (Carol) Price and James Robert (Pat) Price all of Mercer County, Ronald Wayne (Gracie) Price of Laurel County and Gary Michael (Virginia) Price of Anderson County, one daughter: Donna Jean Price of Mercer County, one sister: Dorothy (Owen) Foster of Nelson County, twenty one grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Edna is preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating, with burial in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with James R. Price, David Price II, Scott Price, Tony Price, Wayne Price, Justin Schultz and Andrew Grider serving as pallbearers. Gary Price, Daniel Ransdell, Daniel Derringer and Mark Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers

Visitation will be from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 and after 7 a.m. on Sunday, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Powell, Kenneth Lester

Kenneth Lester Powell, 61, husband of Judith Noel Powell, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at his residence. Born August 4, 1947 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Obie Lester and Lillie Alice Tyler Powell. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, was very active in Mercer County Relay for Life, was retired from Wausau Paper and was a farmer.

Survivors besides his wife include two daughters: Kendra Joy (Randy) Connelly of Salvisa, and Leigh Ann Robinson of Harrodsburg. One son Mark Noel Powell of Harrodsburg; two sisters: Judy (Ronnie) Stumph of Louisville and Sue Ann Burger of Forkland. His grandchildren Mollie Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Jenna Connelly, Jasa Connelly, JoBeth Connelly, and Lucas Cole Powell also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Moon and Daryl Catlett officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Donald Logue, Ritchey Brown, Roger Chadwell, Bobby Smith, Ricky McCrystal, and Lloyd Hutto serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Billy Joe Blacketer, Sr., 65, husband of Priscilla Ann Broce Blacketer, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born July 14, 1943 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Roy J. and Beulah Sims Blacketer. A U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, he was a retired Auto Body Repairman at Roberts Auto Sales and Nevada Auto Sales. Billy was a member of the Benton Baptist Church and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping, and gardening.

Other than his wife, survivors include one son Billy Joe (Mary Elizabeth) Blacketer, Jr. of Science Hill. One daughter Rhonda Ann Robinson of Harrodsburg, two brothers: Connie (Joann) Blacketer and Bobby (Joyce) Blacketer both of Harrodsburg; three sisters: Kathy (Drew) Stratton of Harrodsburg, Laura (Troy) Smith of Anderson County, and Elizabeth Butler of Nicholasville. Eight Grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: James, Ricky, Terry, and Roy Blacketer, Jr., and two sisters Jean Adams and Margaret Blacketer.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Slagle and Bro. Tim Gray officiating. Burial will be in Battle Cemetery in Washington County with Cory Blacketer, Aaron Blacketer, Justin Robinson, Adam Robinson, Johnny Hodge, and Ricky Gilliam serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Dearing, Kenneth
February 17, 1975 - April 07, 2009

Kenneth Ray Dearing, 34, son of Thomas E. and Sandra Settles Dearing, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born February 17, 1975 in Lebanon KY, he was a former employee of Wal-Mart and a member of the Southside Christian Church. He was a graduate of Lexington Vo-Tech and enjoyed reading.

Survivors besides his mother and father include two brothers: Robert (Angie) Dearing of Salvisa and Joseph Dearing of Danville; one sister: Michelle (Brian) Grider of Harrodsburg; several nieces, nephews and one great-nephew.

Private services will be held in the Peter’s Cemetery.

Betty Ellen French Fleischer, 84, widow of Harold Conrad Fleischer, Jr. died Saturday, April 04, 2009 at her residence. Born September 18, 1924 in Chicago she was the daughter of the late Sumner Faville French and Bertha Ellen Anderson French. She was a homemaker and had attended Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. She participated in Community Theater, loved museums, the color purple, tennis, the beach, art galleries, Broadway Theater, travelling and collecting shells. Her love of nature came from growing up in the north woods of Wisconsin.

Survivors include one son: Harold Conrad Fleischer III and his wife, Jane, of San Antonio, Texas and one daughter: Betsy Fleischer of Harrodsburg; one brother: Robert Sumner French of Appleton, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Harold “Kurt” Conrad Fleischer IV of St. Louis, Missouri; Faville Brady Donahue of Lawrenceburg and Paul Morgan Donahue of Tampa, Florida and two great-grandchildren: Aidan Tyler-Ray Dzuck and Anson David Donahue. She was also preceded in death by her grandson: Corporal Jacob Rudeloff Fleischer, US Army who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Klemme officiating.

Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
