Billy Joe Johnson, 45, of Danville died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at his residence. Born March 2, 1965 in Mercer County, Billy was the son of John and Betty Harrison Johnson. . He was a carpet installer and worked for a tree service. Billy was a member of the Harrodsburg United Pentecostal Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Billy is survived by three children: Matthew Louallen of Salvisa, Jennifer (Matt) McGinnis and B.J. Johnson both of Harrodsburg, two brothers: Kenny Johnson of Louisville and Johnny Johnson of Danville, three sisters: Shirley (Wendell) Anderson of Harrodsburg and Pauline (Curtiss) Holmes Danville, two grandchildren: Ethan and Allison McGinnis and several nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by one brother: Benny Johnson

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Gardens with Johnny Johnson, Blake Lopez, Shae Anderson, Josh Johnson, Michael Louallen and Shawn Bozeman serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Georgia Whitenack Napier, 87 passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Born in Harrodsburg, KY, she was a daughter of the late Elwood Floyd and Mary Jane Sallee Whitenack. She was predeceased by her husband Felix Napier, Jr., her brothers, Elwood Floyd Whitenack, Jr. (Jack), Jim Whitenack, Carey T. Whitenack and a sister Pataline Whitenack Morrisey.

She is survived by her daughter Frances Napier Caudill and Son-In-Law Lloyd D. Caudill; three children Heather Caudill, James Caudill (Wendy) and Ashley Caudill-Mirillo (Richard); two great grandchildren, Hannah and Grace Caudill; three sisters, Price Ransdell (Glenn), Dana Haas and Cindy (Ron) Riddle; two sisters-in-law; Ann (Jack) Whitenack and Connie (Jim) Whitenack Baker.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330, Saturday, November 20th at 1:00 P.M..

Eric Lee Devine, 19, of Mercer County, died Monday, September 13, 2010. Born July 23, 1991 in Danville, he was the son of the late Kelvin Lee Devine and George A. and Rita Pike Devine of Mercer County. He was a roofer for Devine Roofing in Harrodsburg. He had attended Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Besides his parents, Eric is survived by Paternal Grandparents William B. and Almeda Devine of Harrodsburg; Paternal Grandmother Joyce Simpson Hill of Danville; Maternal Grandfather William Pike of Danville, Maternal Great Grandmother Nellie Wilson of Parksville. One brother Timmy Tungate and one step-brother William Drury both of Harrodsburg. One sister Leann Dennis of Harrodsburg and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Derek Baker officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Ronnie Devine, Clayton Devine, Johnathan Devine, Doug Garrison, Matt Neikirk, and Brandon Lee serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Blacketer, Priscilla Ann

Priscilla Ann Broce Blacketer, 63, widow of Billy Joe Blacketer, Sr., died Thursday September 9, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset. Born April 15, 1947 in Ashland, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Stumbo Broce. She was a homemaker, a member of the Benton Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter Rhonda Ann Robinson of Harrodsburg and one son Billy Joe Blacketer, Jr. of Science Hill. Two sisters; Thula Clark of West Virginia and Wanda Berryman of Stanford. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one brother Buddy Broce and one sister Linda Berryman.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Gray officiating. Burial will be in Battle Cemetery with Justin Robinson, Cory Blacketer, Aaron Blacketer, Adam Robinson, Johnny Hodge, and Sean Gilliam serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Virginia Vance Ward, 72, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Hospice of Rockingham County in Wentworth. She was born in Atlanta, GA at Emory University Hospital on March 12, 1938, the daughter of Hugh Lewis and Beatrice Watts Vance. Virginia graduated from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, GA in 1956. She received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University and an advanced degree in Administration and Supervision from Georgia State University.

She was listed in Who’s Who in the Southeast and Who’s Who in Education. Virginia taught for both the Atlanta City Public Schools and DeKalb County Public Schools. She served as an Instructional Lead Teacher at Lawrenceville Elementary in Gwinnett County; worked in the county office writing grants for Early Childhood Education, English as a Second Language and Title 1 programs. She served on State committees constructing state wide math tests for students and retired from education as principal of Lawrenceville Elementary School in Lawrenceville, GA. Virginia was a member of Madison United Methodist Church. She served as president of Sow N Hope Garden Club and Western Rockingham County Service League in Madison and also served on the Friends of the Library for Western Rockingham Library.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Ward, Jr. and father, Hugh Lewis Vance. She is survived by her mother, Sara Beatrice Watts Vance of Harrodsburg, KY; her daughter, Melissa Ward Harned and husband, Hewitt of Norwood; step son, John S. Ward, III and wife, Angey of Moncks Corner, SC, and step daughter, Marie Ward of Napierville, IL; her sister, Marilyn Vance McGaughey, PhD, of Atlanta, GA ; nephew, John Thomas McGaughey, III, and wife, Carolyn of Athens, GA and three step grandchildren.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Madison United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Ramsey officiating. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg in charge of local arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take form of donations to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.

Mr. Billy Gene Bradshaw, husband of Flossie Brown Bradshaw, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born January 9, 1928 in Burgin, he was the son of the late James Walter and Lincoln Bottoms Bradshaw. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for Kentucky Utilities E.W. Brown Plant, was a Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church, former Burgin School Board Member, former Burgin City Councilmember, and was a Mason.

Survivors besides his wife include two sons: Mark (Emma) Bradshaw and Brian (Kim) Bradshaw both of Danville. Four grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Louis and James Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Al Gisler and Bro. Carl McRay officiating. Burial with military Honors will be at Burgin Memorial Gardens with Bob Webb, Jack Coleman, Jr., Bobby Burton, Eddie Russell, Roy Lee Sanders, and Fred VanArsdall serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Billy Rogers, Jack Johnson, David Sims, David Feeback, Bob Davenport, and Bob Thompson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Kidney Foundation of Central Kentucky, 2417 Regency Road, Suite B, Lexington, KY., 40503

Collier, Patricia Ann Sallee

Patricia Ann Sallee Collier, 66, wife of forty-seven years to David T. Collier, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born December 23, 1943 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar and Nannie Frances Powell Sallee. She was a retired Teacher’s Aide with the Harrodsburg School System and a Charter Member of Grace Baptist Church.

Patty will always be lovingly remembered as “Mama Hog” by many people who grew up in Harrodsburg through the past several years. She enjoyed collecting Pigs, Snowmen, listening to Southern Gospel Music, and watching High School Sports.

Other than her husband, survivors include her two sons: David Wayne Collier and John Thomas Collier both of Harrodsburg. Her adopted daughter Grace Aziansi of Togo, Africa, her sister-in-law Sandy Sanders of Mercer County, her Jack Russell “Granddog” Buddy, special friends Rosetta Johnson and Betsy Taylor, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Pastors Kent Clark, Mark Williams, and Bill Eldridge officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997.

Cummins, Abbie

Abbie Cummins, 93, died Monday, August 09, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born November 15, 1916 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Cleve and Nancy Click Cummins. She was a former cook at Beaumont Inn and the oldest member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: David (Linda) Cummins and Ricky Cummins both of Harrodsburg. Two grandchildren: Deanna (Rodney) Compton of Harrodsburg and Chris (Michelle) Cummins of Nicholasville, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She is also survived by her caregiver and special friend Donna White.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Queener officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with William Rogers, Bruce Sanders, Garnett Ruble, G.B. Royalty, Danny Rogers, and Terry Pernell serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be employees and staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, 331 S Main Street, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 or to ones favorite charity.

Archie Marion Britton, 68, husband of Betty Jean Tyler Britton of Mercer County died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born September 7, 1941 in Mercer County, Archie was the son of the late Marion Howard and Mabel Bugg Britton. He was a farmer, an Elder and Treasurer of the Cornishville Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, was in the Kentucky National Guard for eight years, enjoyed arrowheads, making furniture, bee keeping and was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons: Monty Britton, Brent (Martye) Britton and Archie Marion Britton, Jr. all of Cornishville, three brothers: Jerry (Alice) Britton, Billy (Joyce) Britton and Keith (Sheryl) Britton of Cornishville, four sisters: Donna (Wayne) Stratton of Harrodsburg, Nancy (Ron) Belcher of Danville, Sarah (Lawrence) Johnson of Cornishville and Doris June Britton of Lexington, three grandchildren: Tiffany Renee Britton, Holly Danielle Britton and Monty Dale Britton, Jr., two great grandchildren: Kayleigh Marie Taylor and Kyle Lee Taylor, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Archie was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Partin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Leonard Price, Jack Griffey and Kandie Adkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery with Hanley McMullin, Hughes Coslow, Terry Coslow, Dudley Huffman, Jr., Brent Steele and Kevin Goodlett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Lake, Jack Griffey, Kandie Adkinson and Marlene Griffey.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mildred Donovan Bailey, 90, of Harrodsburg, KY died August 3, 2010 at her residence. Born in Mercer County on January 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mary Dalrand Donovan. She was preceded in death by sisters Ruby (Ralph) Wilder, Rosalind (R.C.) Freeman, and loving husband, Paul Bailey, who for many years was owner and operator of Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Survivors include daughters Donna Freeman, Louisville, Paula Freeman (Bob) Cairns, Harrodsburg, Patty (Doug) Lumpkin, Knoxville, TN, and step-daughter Gloria Davis, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Beloved survivors also include Kristen (Jackie) Satterly and Patricia Phillips, caregivers.

Besides being an exemplary wife, mother, and homemaker, during her lifetime, Mrs. Bailey was a milliner, an exhibitor of weaving at Shaker Village, owned a gift shop, and operated a ceramic studio in Perryville, KY. She was also a devoted member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and leaves behind many treasured friends there.

Visitation will be Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, August 7, 2010 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held immediately after the service at Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
