William Doyle, 64, of Germantown, died Wednesday at his home. He was a truck driver and a member of Germantown United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Jefferson Doyle; a daughter, Kimberly Cooper of Augusta; a sister, Mildred Mains of Augusta; brothers, Bobby Doyle of Germantown and Danny Doyle of Augusta; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home, Germantown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the Funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Kentucky 41056.

Sara Jane Green, 15, of Owenton, died Monday in an Owen County auto accident. She was a student and cheerleader at Owen County High School.

Survivors include her parents, Norman and Melinda Ayres Green of Owenton; a brother, Adam Zachary Green of Owenton; and grandparents, Buddy and Jane Green and Dorothy and Norman Green Sr.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. McDonald Funeral Home, Owenton, is handling arrangements.

Irene M. Hegge, 87, of Fort Thomas, died at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Mother of God Church, Fort Wright. Her husband, Raymond H. Hegge, died in 1990.

Survivors include a son, Charles L. Mardis of Fort Wright; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Friday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Virginia Helen Hertwig, 86, of Dayton, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Health Care Center, Highland Heights. She was a retired employee with Hennigan Printing Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include cousins.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to St. Anne Convent Development Fund, 1000 St. Anne Drive, Melbourne, Kentucky 41059; Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Kentucky 41075; or Lakeside Health Care Center, 3510 Alexandria Pike, Highland Heights, Kentucky 41076.

Logan Anthony Hill, son of Anthony L. and Karrie Lynn Eubank Hill of Independence, was stillborn at 1:27 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Other survivors include grandparents, Dawn and Dave Meenach of Independence, Bill Eubank Jr. of Covington, Richard and Rose Hill of Independence; and great-grandparents, Marlene and Fred Wright of Carrollton, William and Janice Eubank of Covington, Ray and Virginia Hill of St. Bernard, Ohio, and Dorothy Hyde of Scottsburg, Ind.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Independence. Betty Jane Miller Lunsford, 76, of Frankfort, formerly of Latonia, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was a homemaker and an employee of Office of Aging Services in the Cabinet for Health Services. She was a member of Church of the Ascension, Frankfort.

Survivors include daughters, Jeannine Norman of Malibu, Calif., Jennifer Burger and Janice Lunsford, both of Frankfort; sons, Jeff Lunsford of Malibu and Jerry Lunsford of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the Funeral home. Burial will be in Frankfort Cemetery.

Louise M. Neuman, 81, of Bromley, died Monday at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was a retired technician with Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. Her husband, Paul Neuman, died in 1982.

Survivors include sons, Louis Carl Neuman of Norwood, Ohio, Paul Neuman Jr. of Brookfield, Conn., and James Neuman of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Beverly Quinlan of Kamden, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Dalyrimple of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 7 tonight at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Wheelersburg Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church, 319 Oak St., Ludlow, Kentucky 41016.

William Sears, 67, of Covington, died Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a retired cook and baker with Highland Country Club in Fort Thomas, and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Betty Sears; sons, David Sears of Hamilton, Ohio, and Brett Sears and Billy Chris Sears, both of Florida; brothers, Charles Sears, Jerry Sears and John Sears, all of Covington; ans six grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Friday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Disabled Veterans of American, 3200 Vine St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45220. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Ethelyn Sharon Simmons, 49, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Carrollton United Pentecostal Church. A stepson, Daniel Allen Simmons, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon D. Simmons; daughters, Rosie Griffin of Carrollton and Susan Michelle Wilson of Worthville; a stepdaughter, Jeannette Kim Wilhoite of Madison, Ind.; sons, Gary Simmons of Carrollton and Jerry Simmons of Bedford; a stepson, Roger Simmons of Carrollton; her parents, Herbert William and Lilly Rosalee Dilbert Tibbetts of Cayman Brac, British West Indies; sisters, Marilyn DaCosta of Miami and Sandra Mitchell of Bedford; brothers, Delvin Tibbetts and Darnell Tibbetts, both of Cayman Brac; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.

Herbert E. "Red" Simpson, 77, of Newport, died at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired conductor with the C&O Railroad in Silver Grove, a member of AMVETS Post 13 in West Harrison, Ind., and John R. Little VFW Post 3186 in Southgate, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Billie "Bones" Ziegler, 51, of Newport, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a salesman with Ryans Home Center.

Survivors include his mother, Daisy Ziegler of Fort Thomas; a sister, Betty Iacabucci of Fort Thomas; and a brother, Dale Ziegler of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Nicholas Gross, retired Newport police officer

Nicholas Gross Sr. was a decorated World War II veteran who worked 25 years for t he Newport Police Department.

"He lived a full life of doing what he wanted to do, and it seemed like he thought his duty was community service as a police officer," said his daughter, Rev. Angela Justice of Falmouth.

Mr. Gross died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, Fla.

He was 84.

Mr. Gross was a native of Newport. He distinguished himself in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Gross's daughter said he worked hard to clean up the corruption that riddled much of Newport before he retired in 1968 as a sergeant.

"He was a very strong-willed person," she said. "He was very tough, and he had quite a reputation for that."

Mr. Gross then worked nearly 15 years as a security guard at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas, where he made many friends. In fact, Mr. Gross made friends all his life and, until moving to Tampa last year, gathered with some of them nearly daily at the Country Inn on Monmouth Street in Newport. He also liked to fish.

A son, Carl Gross, preceded him in death.

Besides Rev. Justice, survivors include sons, Russell Gross of Butler and Nicholas Gross Jr. and Samuel Gross, both of Tampa; a sister, Marion Cooke of Cold Spring; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cemetery Chapel in Fort Thomas. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas.

Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling the arrangements.
