Zigmond Niedzielski, 73, of Cincinnati, formerly of Florence, died Wednesday at his residence. He was retired from US Airways and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Sierra Club.

A son, Michael J. Niedzielski, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Beverly A. Blood Niedzielski; daughters, Susan Niedzielski of Newport and Kathleen Niedzielski of Milwaukee; sisters, Wanda Breece of Flint, Mich., Bertha Anno of Rome, N.Y., and Elizabeth Pangburn of Rendo Beach, Fla.; a grandson.

Private memorial services were held Thursday at Radel Funeral Home and Crematory, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit School Tuition Assistance Fund, 840 Washington Ave., Newport, Kentucky 41071.

Kathern Gulick Sargent, 87, of Dry Ridge, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Roanoke Christian Church, Pendleton County.

Her husband, W.H. "Bill" Sargent, died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Cecil R. "Buck" Sargent of Dry Ridge; daughters, Jewel Smith of Crestview Hills, Jenna Lou Brown of Erlanger, Patsy Sue Smith of Taylor Mill; sisters, Dora Kells and Willena Whaley of Williamstown, Ruby Woods of Amelia, Ohio; a half-brother, Tommy Julick of Williamstown; half-sisters, Blanche Pelfrey of Amelia, Ohio, and Connie Weitzel of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, with visitation 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Dry Ridge Baptist Church, 19 Broadway, Dry Ridge, Kentucky 41035; or St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Kentucky 41014.

Paul Harris, Post delivery man

When it came to working with his hands, Paul E. Harris was a genius.

He could repair houses and roofs. He was a cook in the Army who knew how to prepare meals for big crowds. And he even found ways to wrap newspapers in plastic by opening the bags with air from a vacuum cleaner.

"My dad taught us what a work ethic is," said a son, Jerry Harris of Alexandria.

"And my father was always supportive of us. He liked to joke and he loved to fish, but the main thing is that he was always there for us."

Mr. Harris, 82, of Dayton, died Tuesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. He was a newspaper delivery man with The Kentucky Post and the Enquirer, a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church in Fort Thomas, and an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Paul Harris, preceded his in death.

Mr. Harris was born icon in Missouri but spent most of his life in Northern Kentucky. After World War II he helped several brothers who had a small restaurant in Cincinnati.

He later began delivering newspapers in Bellevue and Dayton.

"I threw many papers with him. He had the route as long as I can remember," Jerry Harris said.

He said his father enjoyed his work and was a good family man who attended church regularly.

"He wasn't into sports, he was into church," Jerry Harris said. "He was a good, firm father figure. But when it came to being gentle, that was him."

Besides his son, Mr. Harris is also survived by his wife, Audrey Rush-Harris; a daughter, Patty Ann Brown of Longmont; sons, Jerry Harris of Alexandria, Larry Harris of Edgewood, Richard Harris of Dover, Del., Terry Harris of Edgewood; a stepson, Charles Rush of California; stepdaughters, Susan Bray of Fort Thomas and Kathy Mattingly of Villa Hills; a brother, Joe Harr is of Hammond, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Hills Baptist Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill.

Memorials are suggested to Highland Hills Baptist Church, 638 Highland Ave., Fort Thomas, Kentucky 41075; or Baptist Convalescent Center, 120 Main St., Newport, Kentucky 41071.

Becky Anne Fileccia, 3, of Sugar Hill, Ga., died Tuesday in Sugar Hill.

Survivors include her parents, David and Stacy Fileccia; a sister, Justina Fileccia at home; a brother, Dylan Fileccia at home; grandparents, Charlotte and Gene Salyers of Fairborn, Ohio, Jim and Charla Fileccia of Dayton, Ohio, and Marianne and Larry Harris of Mount Dora, Fla.; and great-grandparents, Dorothy Moore of Florence, Katheri ne Colley of Columbus, Ohio, and Florence Felix of St. Claire Shores, Mont.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Church, Buford, Ga. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, with prayers at 4:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Epilepsy Foundation, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, Md. 20785.

William Daniel Hardy, 65, of Maysville, died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at his daughter's home in Mount Olivet. He was a retired retail sales manager in Cincinnati, and a Marine Corps and Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Lee Adkins Hardy of Cincinnati; a daughter, Melissa J.L. Smithers of Mount Olivet; sons, William David Hardy of Sunman, Ind., and Harold F. Hardy of Goshen, Ohio; his mother, Adelaide Brackett Skirvin of Cincinnati; a brother, Fred Fox of Williamsburg, Ohio; sisters, Debbie Brehem of Loveland, Ohio, and Luann Reilly of Eaton, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Graceland Memorial Gardens Chapel, Milford, Ohio. Entombment will be in Graceland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Kentucky 41056. Kain & Kabler Funeral Home, Mount Olivet, is handling arrangements.

Katherine A. Howe, 91, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at Woodcrest Manor in Elsmere. She was a homemaker and a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church. Her husband, Harry Howe, died in 1993.

Survivors include sons, Harry Wayne Howe of Williamstown, and Carl Lee Howe and Clyde E. "Pete" Howe, both of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Betty Webster of Dry Ridge; sisters, Hildreth Arnold of Brooksville, Ohio, and Frances Mitts of Dry Ridge; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Eugene C. Johnson, 84, of Demossville, died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati. He was a mechanic, an Army veteran, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Brooksville. His wife, Dorothy Debruler Johnson, died in 1982.

Survivors include daughters, Jean E. Grissom of Augusta, Ella Louise Lawson and Glenda Mason, both of Dayton, and Lula Belle Slone of Demossville; a brother, Clarence Johnson of Wilder; a sister, Louella Moorhead of Brooksville; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the Funeral home. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

John G. Kalker, 94, of Taylor Mill, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday at his son's home in Edgewood. He was a retired machinist for R. A. Jones Co. His wife, Bernice M. Kalker, died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, John "Jack" Kalker of Edgewood; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Church, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. James Joseph Kennedy, 74, of Erlanger, died Nov. 30 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., after a brief illness. He was a retired clinical laboratory supervisor for Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a volunteer for the Erlanger Life Squad, Kids Helping Kids, the Florida State Park System and the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport Ambassadors.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Tillman Kennedy; sons, James Dennis Kennedy of Raleigh, N.C., Dr. Daniel Joseph Kennedy of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Michael Patrick Kennedy of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Marilee Kennedy Popolizio of Raleigh and Christine Kennedy Michels of Erlanger; a brother, Thomas Kennedy of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Katherine Bain of Erlanger, Mary Kruetzkamp, Ellen Meihaus and Ruth Kennedy, all of Fort Mitchell; and 10 grandchildren.

James E. Lawson, 48, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a refrigeration technician for So-Low Environmental Equipment Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue, and the Army Reserve in Fort Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Gubser Lawson of Bellevue; daughters, Holly Lawson and Step hanie Lawson, both of Bellevue; brothers, Carl Lawson of Bellevue and Raymond Lawson of Cincinnati; and a sister, Mary Ann Samples of London.

Marion R. Rockwell MacDowell, 74, of Blanco, Texas, formerly of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at her daughter's home in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of All Faith Chapel, Blanco. She also served as food chairman of the Blanco Good Samaritan Center for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert "Mac" MacDowell; a son, J. J. MacDowell of Plano; daughters, Eloise Smith of Irving, Texas, and Susan Turner of Fort Thomas; a sister, Eloise Engel of State College, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

Linvel Richardson, 77, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a farmer and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Dry Ridge, where he was a trustee for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dues Richardson; daughters, Jean Clemons and Sue Davis, both of Dry Ridge; a sister, Mary Estes of Florence; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
