He was a retired truck driver with Commercial of Indiana Co., and a member of Mother of God Church in Covington, St. Patrick Church in Covington, Ludlow VFW Post and Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wives, Mary Ellen Sander Day and Jennifer Ruth Finley Day, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hall of Taylor Mill; sons, David Day of Erlanger, Richard Day of Roseville, Ohio, and Thomas Day of Cincinnati; and 11 grandchildren.

Frank Lee Gibson, 95, of Crescent Springs, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Villa Springs, Erlanger. He was a tool pattern maker with Ford Motor Co. and a former big band musician from 1926 to 1942. He had been a member of the Brunswick, Ohio, School Board and a former member of Brunswick Methodist Church. He was a member of Lakeside Christian Church, Fort Mitchell. His wife, Mae Marie Gibson, died in 1986. A son, Ronald Gibson, died in 1969.

Survivors include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeside Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Genevieve Kalien Gilb, 92, of Newport, died at 6:02 p.m. Saturday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a retired operator and federal worker. Her husband, Arthur Gilb, preceded her in death.

Sara Jane Green, 15, of Owenton, died Jan. 15 in an automobile accident in Owen County. She was a student and a cheerleader at Owen County High School, and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church.

Roberta Bingham Armstrong Klausing, 71, of Taylor Mill, died at 4:35 a.m. Monday at her home.

She was a retired employee of Shillito's and Lazarus department stores in downtown Cincinnati and a member of Women's Auxiliary of Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099 in Covington and Emera Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 392. She was a volunteer with Catholic Social Services and St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. Her husband, James B. "Pete" Klausing, died in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Armstrong Reuter of Taylor Mill; and one grandson.

Charles J. Sassin, 41, of Latonia, died Saturday at his home.

He was a commercial electrician and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local No. 212 AFL-CIO, Cincinnati.

Phillip "Joker" Winburn, 45, of Carroll County, died Sunday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. He was a farmer.

Lonnie Gipson, mentored young men at his church

Lonnie Gipson touched many lives while serving as a mentor for young men at Ninth Street Baptist Church in Covington.

"Lonnie was a very active, interested, involved man who was hungry to be an example to young folk," said Rev. Richard Fowler, pastor of Ninth Street Baptist Church.

"He was wanting to get them headed in the right direction for life. We need more men like Lonnie."

Mr. Gipson, 37, of Bond Hill in Cincinnati, died Wednesday in a tractor-trailer truck accident in Colerain Township, north of Cincinnati. He was a truck driver for FedEx.

Mr. Gipson enjoyed bowling, playing cards and being with his friends.

He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church for three years, but it seemed like he was there forever, Rev. Fowler said.

"His energy just abounded in anything we did in church," Rev. Fowler said. "He was never one to say no. He would bend over backward to accomplish a task. He didn't know his own limitations."

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Tipton, of Memphis, Tenn; daughters, Sara, Angelique and Latronda, all of Memphis, and Chastity of Jonesboro, Ark; a son, Derrick of Memphis; sisters, Wanda Gipson and Kathryn Gipson, both of Memphis; a brother, Larry Gipson of Memphis; a grandmother, Elurdia Tipton of Memphis; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at noon today at Ninth Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon today at the church.

There also will be services Monday at Ford Funeral Home, Memphis.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Memphis. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson, Hall & Jordan Funeral Homes, Cincinnati; Jones & Simpson Funeral Home, Covington; and Ford Funeral Home, Memphis.
