Robert L. Cross, 56, of Fort Thomas, died at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a safety supervisor with Rumpke, a former police officer in Cincinnati and Springdale, Ohio, and a supervisor of aircraft engine inspection with General Electric.

Survivors include sons, Robert D. Cross and Ronald J. Cross, both of Cincinnati, and Richard L. Cross of Dayton, Ohio; his parents, Robert W. and Jean Cross of Sunman, Ind.; sisters, Joan Williams of Miami and Christine Richter of Sunman; a brother, John Cross of San Angelo, Texas; and his fiancee, Sally McIntosh of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Church United Church of Christ, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Gregory Dryer, 54, of Covington, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at his home. He was a serviceman with Cincinnati Gas & Electric.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey L. Houp Dryer; sons, Clinton W. Dryer of Fort Wright, Vincent G. Dryer, Chris L. Dryer and Jamey A. Dryer, all of Covington; a daughter, Audra M. Dryer of Covington; brothers, Marvin Dryer of Warsaw and Ken Dryer of Latonia; and sisters, Ann Dryer and Marlene Borchers, both of Covington.

John W. Emerson, 82, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Florence, died Oct. 16 in Boynton Beach. He worked for a school system in Illinois and was a member of Florence Baptist Church and Barwick Baptist Church, Delray. His first wife, Evelyn Emerson, died in 1991. A grandson, Johnny Lee, died earlier this month.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie J. Emerson; a daughter, Helen Carpenter of Booneville, Miss.; stepsons, Chris Lucas of Nova Scotia, Canada, Robert Lucas of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Fred Pope of Illinois; stepdaughters, Robin Clark of Lake Worth, Fla., Billie Birmingham of Boynton Beach, Shirley Everett of Florence, Bobbie Lowe of East Bernstadt and Jean Vandenburg of Mount Dora, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Ann Hicks, 57, of Carrollton, died at 3:05 p.m. Sunday at her home. A son, Jeff McCormick, preceded her in death.

Steve Johnson Sr., 55, of Crescent Springs, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a member of Elsmere Baptist Church and the J. E. Willett Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Barr of Crescent Springs; a son, Steve Johnson Jr. of Crescent Springs; a brother, Wise Johnson of Fairfield, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Johnson Carnette of Maggie Valley, N.C.

Sharon "Sherry" Rose King, 45, of California, died Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a customer service manager with Walmart.

Survivors include her husband, Kipert King; a son, Andy King of California; a daughter, April King of California; her mother, Ann Haubner of California; brothers, Robert Haubner, William Haubner and Ronald Haubner, all of California; and sisters, Ruth See and Sandra Zschau, both of Alexandria, and Ethel Huck of California.

Russell P. McKibben, 82, of Butler, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Liebel-Flarsheim Co., Cincinnati, a member of Plum Creek Christian Church and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Schafer McKibben; a niece and a nephew.

Arthur C. "Bus" Northcutt, 93, of Erlanger, died at 9:37 p.m. Sunday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. He was a retired locksmith with Mosler Lock and Safe Co. in Covington and Hamilton, Ohio, a past master of Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 345, and a member of Indra Consistory Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason and the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. His wife, Anna A. Wegford, died in 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan A. Eldridge of Erlanger; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by Masonic services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Winnie E. Schroder, 89, of Fort Mitchell, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of 55 Club, Rovers Club, Happy Timers, Hilltoppers, Tri City Senior Citizens and Fort Mitchell Senior Citizens. Her husband, Leonard J. Schroder, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lee Schroder Moeves; a sister, Augusta Schultz of Covington; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Mary Jean Seibert, 94, of Apopka, Fla., formerly of Bellevue, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday at Hospital of Altamonte Springs, Fla. She was a retired telephone operator with Railway Express, Cincinnati, a past president of the Bellevue School Parent Teacher Association and a member of Garrard Street Church of Christ, Covington. Her husband, Elmer Seibert, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Thelma Rachford and Dorothy Dixon, both of Apopka, Nora Scheerer of Cincinnati; a son, Tony Seibert of Kansas City; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

August F. "Gus" Sheehan, 83, of Covington, died Sunday at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home.

He was an attorney, a former Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney, and a member of St. Ann Church, Covington. Mr. Sheehan served as a Kentucky state representative from 1950-52 and 1963-66, and a state senator from 1972-88. He was a former trial commissioner under William Wehrman, and a founder and past president of the Kenton County Democratic Club. He was a past commander with Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099 in Covington, and a member of the Sunday Morning Club, the Stander Club, Kehoe Council Knights of Columbus and the St. Ann Church Holy Name Society. His wife, Mary Catherine Sheehan, died in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Judge Martin Sheehan of Fort Wright; daughters, Joyce Vogelpohl of Independence, Janet Cordiviola of Lexington and Patricia Sheehan of Ludlow; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Diane Wright Weaver,
'very giving' to others

Diane Wright Weaver of Edgewood had a tough final year fighting cancer and suffering heart problems, but she never stopped thinking of others.

"At the hospital, she wanted to go around and visit patients and tell them how much God loved them and that she cared about them, too," said her daughter, Angela Kay Balos of Edgewood.

Mrs. Weaver, 59, died Friday at her home.

She was born icon and reared in the Nashville, Tenn., area.

She worked nearly 20 years in the billing departments of various companies. Her last job was with University Anesthesia Associates in Cincinnati, where she'd been promoted to billing manager.

Mrs. Weaver enjoyed reading, being outdoors and traveling, her daughter said.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church, and, her daughters says, a woman of strong faith.

"That was what got her through all this illness," Mrs. Balos said. "My mom was very giving. She was one of those people who would give you the shirt off her back to help somebody."

Other survivors include a son, Paul David Weaver Jr. of West Chester, Ohio; her mother, Juanita Barr Wright of Gallatin, Tenn.; a brother, Dr. Don Wright of Gallatin, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the Funeral home.

She will be cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Ga. 30368-2454; or the Union Baptist Church, P.O. Box 194, Union, Kentucky 41091.

Stanley Ashcraft, 83, of Erlanger, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at his home. He was a retired facilities planner for General Electric, a Navy veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Dunavent Ashcraft of Erlanger; son, Greg Ashcraft of Owenton; step-sons, Dennis Cammack of New Orleans, and Dale Cammack of Elsmere; brother, Ray Ashcraft of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; sisters, Blanche Hagenseker of Fort Wright and Ona Mae Fischer of Florence; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral home. Alvin Bradley, 90, of Corinth, died Friday at his home. He was a retired farmer.

Evelyn Behymer "Ducky" Colley, 68, of Union, died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit in Covington. She was a retired supervisor at Cincinnati Bell, a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington, Cincinnati Bell Pioneers Club, Rosie Reds, Moose Lodge No. 1459, Taylor Mill, and Kentucky Colonels Nickel, Dime, Quarter Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Colley of Frankfort; and sisters, Joann Lenhof of Burlington and Charline Hunt of Surprise, Ariz.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the cemetery chapel. Alta Humphries Dunn, 81, of Williamstown, died at noon Friday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was retired from Duro Paper Co., Covington, and was a member of Stringtown Christian Church, Grant County. Two husbands, Earl Humphries and Forest Dunn, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Everett P. Humphries of Warsaw; daughter, Patsy Ann Howard of Grant County; brother, Elmer Gayle Martin of Piner; sister, Dede Christie of Covington; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Zella Waner Guilfoyle, 82, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Edward Guilfoyle, died in 1978.
