ESTON BARTLEY
Eston Bartley of Brook Street, Campbellsville, son of the late Oscar Bartley and Lee Ann Pettit Bartley was born icon in Monroe County, Kentucky, April 4, 1916. He died at 8:01 A. M., Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Campbellsville. Age: 86He had professed faith in Christ and was baptized and was a member of the Sunny Hill Church of Christ. He was a retired employee of Tennessee Gas Transmissions, a former Game Warden with the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife and a former employee of Crabtree’s Firestone Store. He united in marriage to Hazel Copas September 6, 1936. Besides his wife, Hazel Bartley of Brook Street, Campbellsville, he is survived by three daughters: Nina Quinn of Campbellsville, Mary Nell Bland of Shepherdsville, and Barbara Jenkins of Jackson, Mississippi; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister: Harley Bartley of Indianapolis and Runelle Taylor of Gamaliel, Kentucky; several other relatives and many friends.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Edmond Bartley on August 29, 1995; one grandson, Gary Bland, and one brother, Truman Bartley.
Funeral SERVICES: 11:00 A. M., Thursday, April 18th at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Minister Greg Sharp, Minister Danny McKibben, And Minister Scott Vifquain

LUCY HASKINS
Mrs. Lucy Haskins Lucy E. Haskins went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 14, 2002.
She was born icon in Adair County to the late John Ike Smith and Eliza Groves Smith.
She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She loved her church and pastor and served faithfully even when she could no longer attend.
She married Columbus Haskins in 1934. He preceded her in death May 10, 1995.
Eleven children were born icon to this union: Willie, Lummie (Earl) Webster, Eliza Mable (Jimmy) Tucker, Clem (Yevette), Paul Samuel, Betty Winfrey and Joyce, all of Campbellsville; Sara (James) Davis and Nora of Atlanta, Georgia and Merion of Richmond, Virginia.
One son, Charles Jr. preceded her in death in 1964.
She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law: Doris and Joe Mitchell, Milton and Mattie Haskins, Clarence Johnson, and Sallie Smith, many nieces and nephews, several other relatives and a host of friends.
Most folks remember Mrs. Lucy’s fried apple pies and how she enjoyed cooking and serving others but most of all everyone knew, “Honey, she was a child of God!” Viewing for Mrs. Lucy Haskins begins at 8:00-10:30 A. M.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Campbellsville Baptist Church on North Central Avenue with burial in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Officiating will be Rev. James T. Washington III and Rev. Joseph Kent.
Dr. Walter Johnson will present the eulogy. Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family ask that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Lucy Haskins Memorial Fund.
They may be made at the church or the Funeral home.

EVERETT "ED" BREWER
Everett “Ed” Brewer, of Penick Avenue Greensburg, son of the late Leonard Brewer and Eva Atwell Brewer, was born icon January 3, 1940, in Larue County, Kentucky. He died at 11:25 A. M., Saturday, April 13, 2002, in Elizabethtown. Age: 62.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters: Everett “Ev” Brewer, Jim Brewer and Missy Brooks of Shepherdsville, Darrell Brewer of Fern Creek, Kay Brewer of Elizabethtown, Everett Lee Brewer of Greensburg and Eva Brewer of Louisville; nine grandchildren: Brady Brewer, Brandon Brewer, Joshua Brewer, Michelle Brewer, Kadie Brewer, Kimberly Brewer, Rachelle Brewer, Brittany Brewer and Ashley Brewer; seven sisters and two brothers: Lela Ash, Edna Pring and Monroe Brewer of Louisville, Vernie English of Greensburg, Nellie Horton of Jacksonville, Florida, Sue Sampson of Tallahassee, Florida, Faye Spears of Leitchfield, Judy Scherer of Corydon, Indiana, and Floyd Brewer of Fairdale; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral SERVICES: 3:00 P. M., Wednesday, April 17th, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. J. Alvin Hardy

JERRY YORK
Jerry York, of Salleetown Road, Campbellsville, son of the late L. H. York and Elizabeth Richerson York was born icon July 4, 1944, in Marion County, Kentucky. He died Wednesday, April10, 2002, at his home in Campbellsville. Age: 57.
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa DeMelo of Austell Georgia; one son, Brian York of Campbellsville and one granddaughter, Kimberly York of Campbellsville. The body was cremated.
There were no Funeral services.
Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville in charge of arrangements.

RUBY G. THOMAS
Ruby G. Thomas, of Village Drive, Winchester, daughter of the late John R. Gray and Ollie Florence Gray was born icon August 24, 1924, in Clark County, Kentucky. She died at 7:50 A. M., Saturday, April 13, 2002, in Campbellsville. Age: 77.
She had professed faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of the Colby Road Church of God.
She was a homemaker and former employee of Belks Department Store. She united in marriage to Ray S. Thomas who preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter and their spouses: John R. and Barbara Thomas of Lexington, Mike and Jackie Thomas of Campbellsville, Bill and Christy Thomas of Georgetown and Ann Thomas and Carlos Newcomb of Clinton, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Chris and Angie Thomas of Enid, Oklahoma, Julie and Aaron Shackelton of Glendale, Arkansas, Brent and Juliette Newcomb of Norman, Oklahoma, Melissa and Chris Washing, Jackie Thomas and Christi Thomas of Lexington and Alan Thomas and Katie Thomas of Georgetown; one great grandson, Andrew Shackelton of Glendale, Arkansas; one sister and two brothers: Christine Castle of Winchester, Earnest Gray of Spring City Tennessee, and Aubrey Gray of Cordova, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral SERVICES: 10:00 A. M., Wednesday, April 17th, at the Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester

BILL WALTON
Bill Walton of South Columbia Avenue, Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late John B. Walton and Eleanor Goodrich Walton was born icon April 16, 1945, in Griffin, Georgia. He died at 2:10 P. M., Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Louisville, Kentucky. Age: 56.
He had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church.
He was a forester for the Kentucky Department of Forestry for over thirty years and was currently the chief forester for the South Central District. He is survived by three step-children, Zandel “Ziggy” Newton of Campbellsville, Shane Dallas Newton of Louisville, and Holly Perez of Chatsworth, Georgia; two step-grandchildren, Alisia and Jeddie; one brother and two sisters, John Reid Walton of St. Cloud, Florida, Joan Lawson of Valdosta, Georgia, and Sarah Punt of Westmont, Illinois; three nieces and six nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral SERVICES: 2:00 P. M., Sunday, April 14th, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Gene Hall

VENETA CORBIN GABBERT
Mrs. Veneta Corbin Gabbert, age 70, of New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, died Tuesday April 2, 2002 at the Taylor County Hospital after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lorena Overstreet Corbin of Adair County.
She was member of the Campbellsville Christian Church and she was a retired school teacher from the Campbellsville City School system and a member of the B. & P. W club, a member of the Tebbs Bend Foundation and a member of the American Association of the University Woman where she held both local and state positions and she also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Gabbert was preceded in death by one brother and sister, Noel Corbin and Lela Jo Corbin Pickett.
Mrs. Gabbert is survived by her daughter, Debbie K. Gabbert of Louisville, two brothers and their spouses, Dennis and Janice Corbin of Campbellsville, Tommy and Delaine Corbin of Columbia, one niece Tamara Corbin, four nephews and their spouses and children David and Kim Corbin along with Kyle and Mariah, Eric and Sherry Pickett along with Mathew, Barry Picket and Gary Corbin also survive along with a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gabbert were conducted at 11:00 A. M. Thursday April 4, 2002 at the Campbellsville Christian Church with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia.

NAOMI R. CARPENTER
Mrs. Naomi R. Carpenter, age 78, of Campbellsville, died Friday, March 29, 2002 in Salem, Indiana after an illness.
She was a retired inspector of Union Underwear Company.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband, Leroy Carpenter, three sons, Paul J. Dicken of Campbellsville, Jim Carpenter of Stanton, Kentucky and Cliff Carpenter of Scottsburg, Indiana, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive along with a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday April 3, 2002 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Hardin Cemetery.
The family request visitation from 4 to 8 P. M. Tuesday at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home.

NANCY "LIZZIE" COX
Mrs. Nancy “Lizzie” Cox, of Louisville, formerly of Taylor County, died Sunday, March31, 2002 at the Caritas Hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Cox is survived by three sons and four daughters, James H., Norman and Howard Cox, Edna Cox and Mary Thompson all of Louisville, Creola Biggs of Lexington and Flossie Taylor of Lebanon. Thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren also survive along with one sister, Janie Cox of Louisville. Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will conducted at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday April 3, 2002 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Merimac Cemetery.
The family request visitation from 5 to 8 P. M. Tuesday April 2, 2002 at the Funeral Home.

OMER PIERCE
Mr. Omer Pierce, age 79, of Taylor Blvd. Campbellsville, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the Taylor County Hospital after an illness.
He is survived by his Wife Edna, two sons and one daughter, Darrell and Dudley Pierce, and Myra Corbin all of Campbellsville, four grandchildren, Johnathan and Jeffery Pierce, Andrea Harmon and Benjamamin Corbin and one great-grandchild Levi Harmon, one brother and one sister also survive, Reesor Pierce and Florine Caulk both of Campbellsville.
Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Friday March 29, 2002 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brookside Cemetery.
The family request visitation from 6 to 9 P. M. Thursday March 28, 2002 at the Funeral Home.

MARTHA SMITH, AGE 77
Martha Smith Ms. Martha Smith, age 77 of Greenbriar, Campbellsville died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the Medco Nursing Home after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Willie and Letha Miller Hunter of Taylor County.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Allen Smith Sr.
And three brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of the Bethel AME Methodist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law and two daughters, Bob and Roda Smith, Henry “Cookie” and Tonnie Smith, Ruth Allen and Dorothy “Otha” Ingram all of Campbellsville. Seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Geneva Smith also survives along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Ms. Martha Smith will be conducted at 1:00 P. M. Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Bethal AME Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Miller Cemetery. Brother Mac Pendelton officiating.

JESSE CALLAHAN
Jesse Callahan of Elkhorn Road, Campbellsville, son of the late Willie Callahan and Esther Walker Callahan was born icon September 5, 1934 in Adair County, Kentucky. He died at 1:35 P. M., Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Louisville. Age: 70
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Knifley Christian Church.
He was a retired furniture maker. He united in marriage to Gloria Christie December 8, 1956.
Besides his wife, Gloria Christie Callahan of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and one daughter and their spouses: Michael and Brenda Callahan and Carolyn and J. R. Thomas of Campbellsville, Phillip and Carolyn Callahan of Tallahassee, Florida; three grandchildren: Andrew Callahan of Tallahassee, Florida, Benjamin Callahan and Christa Thomas of Campbellsville; one sister, Mildred Faulconer of Knifley; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers: Edna Luthy, Ina Humphress, Shirley Redford, Nellie Callahan in infancy, Fred Callahan, and Charles Callahan.

William H. “Skinny” Kirtley of Hodgenville Road, Campbellsville, son of the late Thornton B. Kirtley and Nannie Lee Shofner Kirtley was born icon May 30, 1933 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 4:56 P. M., Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Campbellsville. Age: 71
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was a retired farmer.
He united in marriage to Elizabeth Rice June 8, 1957.
Besides his wife, Elizabeth Kirtley of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and three daughters and their spouses: Bobby and Lisa Kirtley, Martha and Travis Price, Susan and Mike Reynolds and Jennifer and Jason Caulk of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Tyler Reynolds, Ashley Kirtley, LeAnna Kirtley, Hannah Price, Rachel Price and MaKenzi Caulk of Campbellsville; two brothers: Robert Kirtley and Walter Kirtley of Montgomery, Illinois; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Harold C. Kirtley, Richard Kirtley, and Homer R. Kirtley.

SYLVIA ROWENA SWEEN, AGE 71
Ms. Sylvia Rowena Sween, age 71, of Eastridge Cemetery Road, died Saturday February 5, 2005 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Everette and Zora Jones Eastridge of Taylor County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clearance Sween, and two brothers and a sister,Buddy and Ernest Eastridge, Lillie March Miam.
Ms. Sween is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Lawanna Abell, Eddie and Barbara Abell, Johnny and Renee Abell all of Campbellsville Ernie Abell of Virginia, one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bill Kingdollar of Campbellsville, one step-daughter, Joanne Svalberg of Denver, three sisters, Helen Kulp of Casey Creek, Dorothy Abell of Virginia, Bonita Kingsbury of Denver, fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren also survive along with a host of friends. Funeral services for Ms. Sylvia Rowena Sween will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home.

TONY HARDEN, AGE 46
Mr. Anthony Harden, age 46, of Knifley died Saturday, February at his Residence.
He was the son of the late Aaron Harden and Betty Parker Harden of Knifley who survives her son.
He was a sawmill employee and a member of the Brethren In Christ Church.
Mr. Harden is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Jeffrey Scruggs of Elkhorn, two grandchildren, Autumn and Damien Scruggs, two brothers and four sisters, Jack and Ricky Harden of Knifley, Gail Roberts and Bonnie Lozier both of Indiana, Donna Stayton of Knifley and Vanessa Vaughn of Washington.
Three nieces and seven nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Tony Harden will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Quinn Cemetery. Brother Ottie Hancock officiating.
