Mr. Joe B. McDowell, 74, of Paducah, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday at Lourdes Hospital.

Graveside services for Mr. McDowell will be at Cayce United Methodist Church Cemetery Thursday August 22, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Homer Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon Thursday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home.

Mr. McDowell is survived by one brother, Chuck McDowell of CA.; and one brother-in-law, Robert Butler of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Butler McDowell; and one brother. His parents were Joe and Henrietta Marshall.

Mrs. Dorothy Parks

Dorothy Parks, 75, of Paducah died at 4:45 a.m. Monday at Lourdes Hospital.

Mrs. Parks was a retired clerk for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and was business manager at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, where she was also a member. She was past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member of Legion of Mary and Daughters of Isabella.

Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Sigler of Paducah and Ann Heck of Franklin, IN.; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Parks, and one brother. Her parents were Martin Ritter and Edna Green Ritter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Revs. Larry McBride and Al Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday October 9, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah where prayers will be said at 7 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Paducah Cooperative Ministry.

Services for Velva Hopkins, 84, of Calvert City, will be at 1 p.m. Friday October 11, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Harold Council officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday October 10, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hopkins died at 5:33 a.m. Wednesday at Oakview Manor Health Care Center.

She was a member of Southland Baptist Temple.

Mrs. Hopkins is survived by two daughters, Shelia Fleming of Calvert City and Cynthia Ray of Baton Rouge, LA.; two sisters, Estelle Duckett and Opal Keeling, both of Paducah; two brothers, Clifton Garland and Ray Garland, both of Paducah; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guthrie Hopkins; and two sisters. Her parents were Cordie Sills Garland and Dorsey Garland.

Mrs. Joanne E. Tyree

Services for Joanne Tyree, 66, of Paducah, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday October 16, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jim Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Mrs. Tyree died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday at Lourdes Hospital.

Mrs. Tyree was a member of Salt & Light Community Church where expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Salt & Light Community Church in memory of Mrs. Tyree.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Davenport of Paducah; three sons, David Hughes of Paducah, Gary Hughes of Eddyville and Charles Hughes of Birmingham, AL.; mother, Vernie Nehring of Sterling, IL.; one sister, Mary Grandon of Marietta, GA.; one brother, Dale Nehring of Rockford, IL.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Tyree; and one grandson, Jon Hughes. Her father was Clifford Nehring.

Mr. Isadore Marks

Mr. Isadore Marks died Monday October 14, 2002 at Superior Care Nursing Home in Paducah.

Services for Mr. Marks will be at 10 a.m. Thursday October 17, 2002 at Piser Funeral Home in Skokie, IL. Visitation will at Piser Funeral Home on Wednesday October 16, 2002. Burial will be in Waldheim Cemetery in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Marks was a native of Chicago where he co-owned a family liquor business. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII and receiving a bronze and silver star. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

He is survived by one daughter, Rubena Marks Cope of Paducah; one son, Allan Marks of Chicago; four sisters, Gertrude Rothenberg of Long Island, NY., Ester Meyers of Morton Grove, IL., Lorraine Shepard of Lake Forest, IL., and Birdie Goldberg of Miami, FL.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. His father was Sidney Marks, his mother was Anna Marks Cohen.

Mr. Roger D. "Flash" Gordon

Services for Roger Dale "Flash" Gordon, 54, of West Paducah will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Rev. Keith Tilford will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Gordon died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at his home.

Mr. Gordon served three tours of duty in the U.S. Navy during the Vietname War and had worked as a boilermaker for the Tennessee Valley Authority.

He was a member of Boilermakers Local Union 40 of Elizabethtown for 20 years; the Disabled American Veterans, West Kentucky Chapter No. 11; Grahamville Masonic Lodge No. 707; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kevil.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Judith Ann West Gordon; one daughter, Amber Gordon of West Paducah; one son, Adam West Gordon of Ballard Co.; his mother, Ola Mae Rodgers Gordon of West Paducah; one sister, Peggy Jane Carlisle of Dallas; and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall R. Gordon.

Graveside services for Rose "Big Mama" Small, 86, of Paducah, will be at 11 a.m. Friday October 18, 2002 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Al Bremer officiating. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Friday.

Ms. Small died at 7:40 a.m. Monday at home.

Ms. Small was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Eva Jean Rohrbaugh of York, PA., Brenda Lawrencean Small of Paducah, and Donna Lea Taylor of Paducah; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Alyce Mae Day; one sister; and her parents, Fred Gilner Williams and Effie Nettie Hutcherson Fields.

Mr. D. O. Sullivan

Services for D.O. Sullivan, 72, of Lowes will be at 2:00 PM Friday October 18, 2002 at Roy M. Lowe Funeral Home in Lowes. Darce Paschall will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Thursday October 17, 2002 at Roy M. Lowe Funeral Home.

He died at 8:00 AM Tuesday October 15, 2002 at his home.

He was a retired civil engineer and registered land surveyor. He was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers and the Association of Land Surveyors.

Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of the US Army and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Leonard of Melber, Karen Luck of Hanson, and Tricia Jones of Mayfield; two sons, Richard Sullivan of Melber and Craig Sullivan of Mayfield; four sisters, Ada Lee Crowder of Des Moines, Iowa, June Bagwell of Mayfield, and Norma Bard and Sandra Wheeler, both of Mayfield; one brother, Harold Sullivan of Mayfield; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Mae Williams Sullivan; and two sisters. His parents were D.C. Sullivan and Opal Helen Mace Sullivan.

Mr. Jerry Kimbler

Memorial Services for Jerry Kimbler, 63, of Paducah will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 19, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Rev. Tony Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Kimbler died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday at his home.

He was a native of Volga and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner of WESCO heating & Air and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Dolores Kay Marlock Kimbler; his father, Fred G. Kimbler of Lincoln Park, MI.; two daughters, Brenadette Vogt of Paducah and Melinda Lynam of Grand Rapids, MI.; two sons, Brent Kimbler and Wesley Kimbler, both of Mayfield; two step-daughters, Jennifer Maupin of Bowling Green and Gwendlyn Langston of Mannheim, Germany; three sisters, Cheryl Wells and Marcia Pellerito, both of Wayne, MI., and Jackie Stewart of Columbus, OH.; three brothers, Gary Kimbler of Lincoln Park, and George Commodore and Gary West, both of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Stambaugh West.

Mrs. Mae Fitzpatrick

Graveside services for Mae Brookshire Fitzpatrick, 89, of Lone Oak will be at 3:00 PM Saturday October 19, 2002 at Houser Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. Kelly Meredith will officiate.

She died at 1:45 AM Friday October 18, 2002 at Western Baptist Hospital.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick was retired from Canteen Food and Vending and also worked at Rockwell International. She was a member of Houser Grove Church of Christ.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Fitzpatrick. Her parents were E.K. Brookshire and Dola Clark Brookshire.

Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. L. J. Gay

L.J. Gay, 81, of Paducah died at 7:32 a.m. Sunday at Western Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Gay was the retired owner and contractor of Gay Construction and was active in the Association of General Contractors. He was a Navy veteran, serving as a radioman in World War II; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where he had formerly served as secretary.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Hazel Espevig Gay; one son, Gary L. Gay of Paducah; one sister, Buvetta Blankenship of Barlow; and three grandchildren, Emily Kreutzer of Lexington, and Audrey Gay and Logan Gay, both of Paducah.

His parents were James Edward and Alice Crews Gay.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Stephen Wood officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday December 30, 2002 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2701 Broadway, Paducah, KY 42001.

Mr. James G. Riggin

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday January 2, 2003 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Mr. Riggin died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday at his residence.

Mr. Riggin was employed for 40 years at C C Metals in Calvert City where he was a Warehouse Supervisor in the Shipping Department. He was a member of Reidland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cathie Mitchell Riggin; three daughters, Jamie Tucker of Lemoore, CA., Katie Riggin of Paducah and Kim Brown of Evansville; two sons, David Riggin of Paducah and Tim Riggin of Shrewsburg, PA.; his mother, Lucille Keel Riggin of Carterville, IL.; one sister, Marilyn Hadfield of Herrin, IL.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nieces, one nephew and one uncle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Riggin.
