Anna Mae Martin, 86, formerly of Columbus, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.

She was a native of Arlington.

Surviving are two sisters, Virginia Hancock and Louise Sturgeon, both of Paducah, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Her parents were Jim Martin and Ethel Bellamy Martin.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Kitter officiating.

Visitation will be after noon Wednesday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Arlington.

Services for G. Leon Williams, 78, of Paducah will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Mike T. Tanaro officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday at his home.

A native of Carrsville, he was a partner in the accounting firm of Williams, Williams & Lentz in Paducah. He was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, Paducah Junior College and Bowling Green College of Commerce. He was a math instructor for Bowling Green College of Commerce and was a business instructor for Florida Christian College and Humphrey Robinson College in Louisville.

He served as chairman of the board of trustees of Paducah Junior College. He was a member of Broadway Church of Christ, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants, the State Board of Accounting of Kentucky and the Downtown Kiwanis Club. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He received the Honored Alumnus Award for Outstanding Services to College, Community and Profession from Paducah Junior College/Paducah Community College.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Mullinax Williams; a daughter, Patricia Sue "Patti" Sanders of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Michael Allen Williams of Seattle and Anthony Leon "Tony" Williams of Paducah; two stepdaughters, Teresa Mullinax Foxx of Lexington and Dinah Mullinax High of Louisville; two brothers, Ralph V. Williams and John Allen Williams Sr., both of Paducah; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Walker Williams, and his parents, Allen Houston Williams and Nina Cox Williams.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Funeral home.

Services for Dellady Ann Jones, infant daughter of April Renee DeClue of Hardin and Michael Allen Jones of Benton, will be at noon today at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Ledbetter. The Rev. Judy Warran will officiate, with burial in Brooks Memorial Park in Paducah.

The infant died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at home.

Besides her parents, Dellady is survived by one sister, Alexandra Lynn DeClue of Hardin; two brothers, Trey Gavin Nethery and Justus Aaron Nethery, both of Hardin; her maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Brenda Nethery of Gunnison, Miss.; her paternal grandparents, Jimmy Dale Jones of Benton and Sandy Ann Childers of Mobile, Ala.; a maternal great-grandmother, Mary Sue Hendrix of Paducah; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

James Boyd "J.B." Thompson, 90, of Paducah died at 6:05 a.m. Thursday at Superior Care Home-Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Thompson retired from Railway Express Company and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge No. 127.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Elna Mignon Simmons Thompson; a daughter, Sue Spears of Paducah; two sons, David L. Thompson of Nashville, Tenn., and James Ronald Thompson of Hanford, Calif.; a sister, Ora Lee Simmons of Hammond, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Julia Morrow Thompson, and a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Larry Walker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Kenton Cemetery.

Services for Herman Amos Shaffer, 90, of Benton, formerly of Paducah, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Shaffer died at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall County Hospital in Benton.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific. He was a retired baker and was a retired custodian of the Charlie Williams office building. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving are two sisters, Juanita Park of Paducah and Mildred Mungle of Baytown, Texas; a brother, E. Thel Shaffer of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Slusmeyer Shaffer; a sister; and two brothers. His parents were Louis S. and Alvey Houser Shaffer.

Ruth H. Dodge, 80, of Paducah died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Western Baptist Hospital.

Mrs. Dodge was a native of Union County and was a retired secretary for the treasurer of the city of Paducah. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Leon Dodge; two daughters, Lisa Chapman of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Brenda Perdew of Paducah; a son, John Floyd of Paducah; five grandchildren, Jeff Beach of Calvert City, Johnna Floyd, Creighton Floyd and Chanyng Floyd, all of Paducah, and Brandon Chapman of Hendersonville; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Auston; her mother, Ruth Gatewood Auston Cross; and a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Elmer Crouch officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Active and retired firefighters for the city of Paducah will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

Services for John Benjamin Mathis, 82, of Melber will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak with Greg Harger and Ben McMaine officiating. Burial will be in Owens Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Mathis died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Mable Ruth Gardner Mathis; three daughters, Eva Jean Whitis of Mayfield, Linda Marie Wood of Winterville, Ga., and Elizabeth Ann Mathis of Melber; two sons, John Douglas Mathis and Neal Ray Mathis, both of Melber; three brothers, James Mathis of Cunningham and Marvin Mathis and Herbert Mathis, both of Melber; four sisters, Ruth Burchard, Ada Howle and Mary Garnett, all of Melber, and Wanda Logan of Tumwater, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. His parents were James Monroe and Candice Womble Mathis.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at the Funeral home.

Graveside services for Don Norment, 57, of Bardwell, formerly of Ballard County, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Barlow Cemetery with the Rev. Dee Hazelwood officiating.

Mr. Norment died at 9:29 a.m. Wednesday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Dawn Smith of Bardwell and Laurie Powell of Wickliffe; a son, Anthony Gilbert of Kevil; a sister, Sybil Patterson of Murray; and eight grandchildren.

His parents were Jo Al Norment and Dixie Lee Hall Norment.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Friday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe.

Elizabeth Jarman, 65, of Paducah died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at her home.

A native of Benton, Ms. Jarman had owned and operated The Telephone Answering Service Inc. of Paducah since 1969. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College and received The Women Who Make a Difference Award from the Association of TeleServices International (ATSI), of which she was a lifetime member. She was a member of Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Cathy Riley and her husband, Mike, of Paducah; two sons, Tony Raymond of Paducah and Jimmy Dale Poole of Paducah; daughter-in-law, Michelle Clark of Paducah; a granddaughter, Angela Bebout of Paducah; three grandsons, Bryan Riley and Keith Riley, both of La Vergne, Tenn., and David Poole of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Marie Davis Morris, and a brother, William Morris.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Benton Cemetery.

Mr. Petty died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Charlene Feezor of Melber.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired farmer and laborer and was a member of the American Legion in Paducah and Lovelaceville United Methodist Church.

Besides his daughter, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lynella Hughes Petty; another daughter, Sharron Burchard of Melber; three stepdaughters, Wanda McNeill, Carol Jean Partin and Bonnie Rae Allbritten, all of Paducah; a son, Larry Petty of Boaz; three stepsons, Donald Wayne Allbritten, Herschel A. Allbritten and Dale McNeill, all of Paducah; three sisters, Rebecca Whitlow of Michigan, Sue Deweese of Washington, Ill., and Georgia Rudd of Cunningham; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Petty; a sister; and three brothers. His parents were Ebb Petty and Eula Barriger Petty.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a West Kentucky Technical College Deckhand Training Program instructor, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Association of Retired Marine Personnel, the Propeller Club and the Paducah Model Railroad Club.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Violet Ferrell Clark; a daughter, Vicky Corbin of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Jay Hosick of Kevil and Michael Hosick of Lynchburg, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

His parents were James "Gabe" Collins Clark and Lena Maye Burns Clark.

A native of Fort Belvoir, Va., he was a Vietnam veteran and was a retired roofer and a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Henderson Martin; his mother, Florence Telford Martin of Lake Village, Ind.; two daughters, Jena Martin and fiancé, Kevin Henley, of Paducah and Aimee Franklin and husband, Chad, of Smithland; two sons, Mark Martin and wife, Desiree, of Metropolis, Ill., and Ryan Martin and wife, Katherine, of Paducah; two sisters, Linda Kwitkowski of Oakland, Ark., and Connie Bushy of Kirkwood, Texas; a brother, David Martin Sr. of Paducah; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard James Martin Sr.; two grandchildren, Lillian Abagail Martin and Patrick Ian Martin; two sisters, Judy Michaels and Diane Martin; and a brother, Walter Martin.
