Jewell H. ‘Joe’ Chamberlain

Services for Jewell H. “Joe” Chamberlain, 81, of East Ridge, TN, formerly of Sebree, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Tompkins Funeral Homes, Sebree/Poole Chapel. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.

Mr. Chamberlain died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in a local hospital.

He was a retired food and beverage manager of the Ramada Inn in Henderson, was a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Henderson, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Mercer Chamberlain; a son, Kim “Scott Chase” Chamberlain of East Ridge; a daughter, Dianne Holt of Ithaca, NY; a brother, Leamon Chamberlain of Sebree; a sister, Gladys Stanley of Sebree; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Tompkins Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

South Crest Chapel in Rossville was in charge of arrangements.

D.V. Hatley

Services for D.V. Hatley, 84, of Blackford, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Clay.

Mr. Hatley died at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City.

He was a member and elder of Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Clay for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Stella Hatley; a daughter, Shirley Sheridan of Calvert City; a son, Richard Hatley of Dawson Springs; a half-sister, June Dunning of Mt. Vernon, IN; a step-brother, the Rev. Wilbur Collins of Blackford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Teresa D. Holt

Services for Teresa D. Holt, 41, of Madisonville, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Madisonville. Pastor Marvin Hightower will officiate, with burial in the west side Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Holt died at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was a member of Word of Faith Christian Center in Madisonville, where she was a part of the ensemble choir. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Holt; three daughters, Gena White and Tiffany White, both of Bowling Green, and Candice White of Madisonville; a stepson, Isiah Holt of Toledo, OH; a sister, Cassandra Joyce Coleman of Bowling Green; a brother, Anthony Kirkwood of Providence; and several nieces and nephews.

Mason and Son’s Funeral in Madisonville was in charge of arrangements.

William Thomas Buchanan

Services for William Thomas Buchanan, 91, of Sebree, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Tompkins Funeral Home, Sebree/Poole Chapel. The Revs. Thornton Stanley and Tinsley officiated, with burial in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.

Mr. Buchanan died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Local 561 in Evansville, IN, and was also a member of Sebree Pentecostal Church, where he had served on the church board of deacons for many years.

Survivors include seven daughters, Burnetta Springfield and Reitha Wolfe, both of Sebree, Clara Joe Watson and Darlena Ricketts, both of Henderson, Alladean Kramer of St. Phillips, IN, Debby Cadeau of Marion, MI, and Kathryn Kafara of Redford, MI; seven sons, Tommy Buchanan of Sebree, Kenneth Buchanan, and Carol Buchanan, both of Henderson; Charles Buchanan, Gary Buchanan, and Randy Buchanan, all of Sebree, and Jerry Buchanan of Providence; 41 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and 37 step-great-grandchildren.

Joel Franklin Reader

Services for Joel Franklin Reader, 56, of Clay, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Marion. The Revs. Frank McCallum and Ron Austin officiated, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery near Marion.

Mr. Reader died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, of liver failure.

He was a truck driver for Wright Trucking in Clay and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was also a member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Carolyn Reader; a daughter, Michelle Hackney of Marion; two sons, Mickey Reader of Louisville and Dennis Reader of Madisonville; three sisters, Sarah Pryor of Louisville, Mary Warren of Elizabethtown, and Lois Mullins of Greenville, IN; two brothers, Lowell Thomas Reader and Dale Hamilton Reader, both of Louisville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Vanover Funeral Home in Clay was in charge of arrangements.

Esther Belle Reynolds

Services for Esther Belle Reynolds, 85, of Madisonville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. Bro. David Simpson officiated, with burial in White Oak Cemetery near Clay.

Mrs. Reynolds died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Oct. 3.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Evelyn Burton of Crittenden KY; three sons, Charles Reynolds of Madisonville, Jimmy Reynolds of Sturgis, and Carrol Reynolds of Calvert City; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Lona Mae Ricketson

Services for Lona Mae Ricketson, 87, of Sullivan, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Sullivan Baptist Church. The Rev. Noble Cobb officiated, with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay.

Mrs. Ricketson died at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.

She was a lifelong member of Sullivan Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Emma Lou Harris of Sturgis, Phyliss Murrell of Morganfield, Joy Powers of Clay, and Janice Walton of Salem; two sons, Hank Ricketson of Sturgis and Thomas C. Ricketson of Sullivan; 66 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren.

Olivia Nichole Travis

Services for Olivia Nichole Travis, 15 months old, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. Bro. Laddie Pride officiated, with burial in Green Grove Cemetery in Providence.

Baby Travis died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Survivors include her father, James Allen Travis of Providence; her mother, Retha Janell Travis of Providence; grandparents, Ronnie and Retha Poe of Providence, and James and Joyce Travis of Providence; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Welborn Vaughn

Services for Welborn Vaughn, 73, of Sturgis, were conducted Sunday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. Bro. Don Phelps officiated, with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Mr. Vaughn died at 7:09 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis, and a retired deacon. He was also a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Vaughn; two sons, Kevin Vaughn of Sturgis, and Keith Vaughn of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Lucille Lahue of Springfield, IL; a brother, Robert Vaughn; and two grandchildren.

P. Merene King

Graveside services for P. Merene King, 62, of Madisonville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. The Rev. Richard Sisk officiated the services.

Mrs. King died at 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at her residence.

She was an inspector for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Survivors include her mother, Lois Tomes of Madisonville; a sister, June Conzachi of Madisonville; two brothers, Johnnie Tomes of Providence; and Larry Tomes of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Lula Cummings

Services for Lula Cummings, 85, of Sturgis, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Sturgis Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. Joey Durham and Stacy Pearcy officiated, with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Mrs. Cummings died at 12:36 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

She was a member of Sturgis Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four nieces, Mary

Robinson and Judy Davis, both of Evansville, IN, Marie El;kins of Providence, and Margie Vaughn of Lawrenceville, IL; and a nephew.

Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis was in charge of arrangements.

Brett Coffman

Brett Coffman, 40, of Henderson, formerly of Providence, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Revs. Barry Cullen and David Alexander officiated, with burial in Lisman Cemetery in Lisman.

Mr. Coffman died Monday, June 10, 2002, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

A member of Providence Victory Baptist Church, he also attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was the former owner of Coffman Food Dollar in Providence and was the retail manager of Rural King Supply Company in Henderson. He was also a member of Providence Golf and Country Club, Providence Jaycees, V.F.W. Post No. 5484 and several other organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Malcom Coffman; a sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Rick Farley of Clay; a brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Connie Coffman of Clay; an uncle, aunt and nephew.

Raymond Spence

Services for Raymond Spence, 87, of Hazel Park, MI, formerly of Providence, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Providence. The Rev. Laddie Pride will officiate, with burial in Fox Cemetery in Webster County.

Mr. Spence died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Spence; two daughters, Rayma Jean Hagey of Hazel Park, MI, and Betty Lou Zunk of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Raymond Spence

Services for Raymond Spence, 87, of Hazel Park, MI, formerly of Providence, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Providence. The Rev. Laddie Pride will officiate, with burial in Fox Cemetery in Webster County.

Mr. Spence died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Spence; two daughters, Rayma Jean Hagey of Hazel Park, MI, and Betty Lou Zunk of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mary B. Babb

Services for Mary B. Babb, 92, of Marion, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Robert Phillips officiated, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Webster County.

Mrs. Babb died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Crittenden Co. Convalescent Center in Marion.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Belt of Marion; two step-daughters, Anna Speaks of Kirksville, MO, and Wanda McVay of Henderson; a son, Ronnie Babb of Eliabethtown; three sisters, Edith Harper of Madisonville, Bobbie Hean Jones of St. Charles, and Bonnie Montgomery of Clay; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

Callie Mae Brown

Graveside services for Callie Mae Brown, 75, of Providence, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, Lakeview Cemetery in Providence. The Rev. Samuel Beeny officiated the services.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday morning, Dec. 1, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Survivors include four daughters, Judy Alderson of Albuquerque, NM, Rita Keegan of Phoenix, AZ, Sue Elder of Providence, and Tammy Keller of Bucyrus, MO; three sons, Jerry Brown, Jimmy Brown, and Bobby Brown, all of Providence; a sister, Dolly Jones of Henderson; three brothers, Chester Puckett of Henderson, Charles Emory (Chuck) Puckett of Henderson, and Ray Puckett of Dixon; 23 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Nova Holeman Cullen

Services for Nova Holeman Cullen, 89, of Dawson Springs, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Dennis Mayfield officiated, with burial in Dalton Cemetery in Dalton.

Mrs. Cullen died at 4:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at NHC in Dawson Springs.

She was a housewife and member of Dalton Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Hershel P. Cullen; five sons, David Cullen of Madisonville, Billy Cullen of Princeton, Tommy Cullen of Eddyville, Dale Cullen of Beulah, Jimmie Cullen of Dalton; a brother, John Holeman of Cadiz; a sister, Annabelle Rawlings of Dawson Springs; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Lena W. Fraiser

Services for Lena W. Fraiser, 77, of Providence, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence.The Rev. Walter Ellis officiated, with burial in Cumberland Hill Cemetery in Providence.

Mrs. Fraiser died at 2:17 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Goldie Fraiser of Providence; four sons, Gary Frazier of Wheatcroft, Raymond Frazier of Providence, James Frazier and John Flemings, both of Evansville, IN; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

James Gordan Hearon

Services for James Gordan Hearon, 69, of Clay, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay.

Mr. Hearon died at 7:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Lynn McMillian and Kristina Kay Wargel, both of Evansville, IN; his mother, Neva Hearon of Clay; and four grandchildren.

William Denver Robertson

Services for William Denver Robertson, 83, of Marion, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay. The Rev. Robert Nall officiated, with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery in Shady Grove, KY.

Mr. Robertson died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Crittenden Health Systems in Marion.

He was retired from Whirlpool and had attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. He was also a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Inez Robertson; two sisters, Bobbie McHone of Cross, SC, and Irene Clark of Blackford; and a brother, Robert Robertson of Sturgis.
