Ruby Hatfield
Ruby Hatfield, 66, of McCarr, Kentucky, Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Born May 30, 1935, at Big Shoal, Kentucky, she was a daughter of Caroline "Wootsie" Hatfield Ball of McCarr, and the late James Alley.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Hatfield, and a half-sister.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Rick B. Hatfield of Whittensville, Kentucky; one daughter, Pamela H. Hager of Ransom, Kentucky; three half-brothers, Ogle Alley of Florida, Delmar Alley of Belfry, Kentucky, and Pete Alley of Ransom, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Carl "Mack" Hatfield of Tennessee; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Kentucky

Burial will follow in the Buskirk cemetery at Buskirk, Kentucky

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home.

Irene Dotson
Irene Dotson, 62, of Ransom, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at her residence.

Born April 25, 1939, in Pike County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Sarah Kinder Coleman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Proctor Dotson; three brothers, Anthony, Mose, and Thomas Coleman, and a sister, Thelma Arrant.

She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by a son, Proctor (Kristie) Dotson, Jr., of Ransom, and a sister, Zelma Hughes of Ransom.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Lee Dotson and Lonnie Francis officiating.

Burial will follow at the Coleman cemetery at Ransom.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the funeral home with services at 7 p.m.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Philip Abraham
Philip Abraham, 82, of Slaters Branch, Kentucky, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.

Born April 22, 1919, he was the son of the late Mike and Amy Aborizk Abraham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Edward Abraham; four sisters, Ida, Volintine, Lucille and Madeline Abraham; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Bernice Abraham; a brother-in-law, George Haddad, and a niece, Barbara Abraham Henry.

He was a partner in the long-standing family business, The Flower Nook, Inc., which closed several years ago. He was the last survivor of the family members who had operated the prominent local floral establishment. He was devoted to his family and lovingly cared for several of his sisters with whom he made his home.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, a graduate of Williamson High School, a member of the Williamson Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Williamson Elks Lodge, where he was recognized as a 50 year member just last year. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Italy during World War II.

He is survived by two brothers, Jack (Anne) Abraham of Arden, N.C., and Raymond Abraham of Huntington; a sister, Emily Abraham Haddad of Frankfort, Ill.; four nieces, Linda Thomas, Leah Weber, Amy Cook and Mary Haddad; two nephews, Michael and John Abraham; six great-nieces, Kerri, Kristen and Kimberly Thomas, Martha and Sarah Cook and Casey Abraham, and two great-nephews, Eddie (Chris) Henry and Michael Raymond Abraham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2001, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Father Dan L. Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Weaver Mortuary Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Michael and John Abraham, Bob Thomas, Eddie Henry, Chuck Eubanks, Larry Hambrick and Emil Cantees.

Gladys Gibson
Gladys E. Gibson, 78, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Mayfield, Kentucky

Born Dec. 9, 1922, in Sycamore, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Dixie Coleman Gibson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Gibson, Jr.

She was a housewife and a member of the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Lillian Thacker of Mayfield; two sisters, Ruby Thacker of Virgie and Nancy Charlan of Hazel Park, Mich.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with ministers Ted Honaker, Herman West and others officiating.

Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young cemetery in Pikeville, Kentucky

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home in Pikeville.

Larry Hall
Larry Wayne Hall, 48, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky

Born July 11, 1953, in Neon, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Leonard and Dicey Bentley Hall.

He was disabled and a member of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include two sons, Jason Todd and Travis Wayne Hall, both of McRoberts, Kentucky; three brothers, Danny Hall of Borden, Ind., and Steve and Gary Hall, both of Frankfort, Kentucky; a sister, Patsy Butts of Lexington, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at the Shelby Valley Church of Christ with the Revs. Johnny King and Greg Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bentley cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at the Lucas and Hall Funeral Home, with special services at 7 p.m.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Bob Cable
Robert "Bob" Levi Cable, 63, of Shelby Gap, Kentucky, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky

Born Oct. 31, 1938, in Shelby Gap, he was a son of Julie Cable and the late Lee Cable.

He was a coal miner repairman for Kentucky May Coal Company, an Army veteran and a member of the Old Regular Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, John Robert and Brian Keith Cable, both of Midland, Va.; one daughter, Alisha D. Cable Roberts of Pikeville, Kentucky; three brothers, Charles and George Cable of Georgia and James Cable of Florida; six sisters, Ester Mullins of Dorton, Kentucky, Helen Thacker of Lorton, Va., Margie Rose of Caney Highway, Bessie Bentley of Pikeville, Icy (Cable) Sowards and Avis June Darnell, both of Illinois, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Lucas and Hall Funeral Home, with ministers Charles Nitchie and others officiating.

Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Garden cemetery.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, with special services at 7 p.m. nightly, at the funeral home.

Charles Dale
Charles Earl Dale, 69, of Calloway Branch, Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his residence.

Born May 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Harold and Stella Watkins Dale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sada Dale, and one brother, Eugene Dale.

He was a retired coal miner, employed by Kentucky Carbon Coal Company, and a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church and the Thomas Devinney #928 Lodge at Freeburn, Kentucky

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Mitchell Dale and Steven (Linda) Dale, both of Phelps; one daughter, Kimberly (Edward) Maher of Grove City, Ohio; four brothers, Albert Dale, Sr. of Edgarton, Clifford (Evelyn) Dale of Johnson City, Tenn., Robert Dale of Lockport, Ill., and James (Ann) Dale of Piney Flats, Tenn.; one sister, Barbara (Freddie) Coleman of Phelps, and three grandchildren, Charles, David and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. DeWitt Furrow, Elder Everett Brizedine, Paul Varney and Timmy Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Phelps.

D.A.V. rites will be performed by Chapter 141 of Belfry, Kentucky

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps Chapel, and masonic rites will be given on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

Pricie Crum

Pricie Crum, 71, of Inez, Kentucky has passed away.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Phelps and Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Danny Moore
Danny Moore, 48, of Inez, Kentucky, has passed away.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Phelps and Son Funeral Chapel of Inez.

Nella Evans
Nella Preece Evans, 95, of South Williamson, Kentucky, formerly of Inez, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in South Williamson.

Born Sept. 19, 1906, in Inez, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Lou Creacy Preece.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Middlefork United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Okey Evans; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, William Bob (Shirley) Evans of Marriottsville, Md. and James C. (Karen) Evans of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter, Von Ada Bannister of South Williamson; four sisters, Hattie Muncy of Columbus, Ohio, Pearl Mills of Columbus, Ohio, Celia Moore of Grove City, Ohio, Hallie Lambert of Inez, Kentucky and Lucy Kirk of Warfield, Kentucky; one brother, Edward (Virginia) Preece of Livonia, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Middlefork United Baptist Church with Kennie Preece officiating.

Burial will follow in the Preece cemetery in Inez.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Inez.

William Fluty
William "Randy" Fluty, 64, of Inez, Kentucky, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Kings Daughters Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky

Born Nov. 2, 1937, in Martin County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Sam and Vada Horn Fluty.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, McClellan Fluty, and two sisters, Vastie Fluty and Inas Hatfield.

He was a retired welder employed by Ashland Oil. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 27-year member of the O.C.A.W.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Conn Fluty of Inez; one son, William R. Fluty Jr. of Mineral City, Ohio; three daughters, Debra Fitch, Cheryl Gartin and Thelma Goforth, all of Inez; one brother, Lucian Fluty of Grand Blanc, Mich., and six sisters, Thelma Oltice of Altoona, Fla., Laura Mayenchien of Chesapeake, Ohio, Fondalene Ashworth of Huntington, Rita Lovins of Crum, Joyce Sammons of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Nadine Goble of Lexington, Kentucky

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in the Inez Chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, with Roy Fluty officiating.

Burial will follow in Fluty Lick cemetery in Inez.

Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the funeral home.
