Vivian Branham
Vivian Alice Maynard Branham, 37, of Wolfpen, Hurricane Creek, Pikeville, Kentucky, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at her home.
Vivian was born on October 18, 1966 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Lonnie Dale Maynard and Leona Graham Maynard.
She is also survived by her husband, Charles "Lester" Branham; one son, Lester "Biggin" Branham, Jr.; one daughter, Leslie Kay Branham of Pikeville, Kentucky; and two sisters, Kimberly Kay Griffith and Tina Ann Canada of Brushy, Kentucky
Vivian was of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Kentucky Junior Business College.
Visitation will be in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 4, 2003, 7-10 p.m. and Friday, December 5, 2003, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. with funeral services at the chapel on Saturday, December 6, 2003, at 11 a.m., with Bill Williamson and Tommy Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynard Family cemetery at Varney, Kentucky
In lieu of flowers, contributions will be graciously accepted by the family. The family is being served by Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, Kentucky
JoAnn Hankins
JoAnn Harris Hankins, 62, of Forest Hills, Kentucky, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at her residence.
Born Aug. 27, 1942, in South Williamson, Kentucky, she was a daughter of Joe Harris of Sidney, Kentucky, and the late June Burgett Harris.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Hankins was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Hankins and a brother, Charles Edwards Hankins.
She was a homemaker and a retired realtor with Pruitt Realty, Melbourne, Fla., and a member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church, Canada, Kentucky
Survivors include: a son, Mark Hankins of Pikeville, Kentucky; two brothers, Larry David Harris of Marianna, Fla.; and Joe "Pat" Harris Jr., of South Williamson, Kentucky; two sisters, Bobbi Hopson of Paintsville, Kentucky; and Sandy Brown of Sidney, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Margaret Blackburn of Frankfort, Kentucky; a special friend, Toma Williamson and one grandchild, Jake Hankins of Gainsville, Fla.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the Rogers Funeral Home chapel, Belfry, Kentucky, with Bill VanZant and Vaughn Smith officiating.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Pike County, 3409 N. Mayo Trail, Pikeville, Kentucky, 41501.

James Earl Hurley
James Early Hurley, 82, of South Williamson, Kentucky, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky

Rosetta Wolford
Rosetta Wolford, 69, of Phelps, Kentucky, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the Good Shepard Community Nursing Home in Phelps, Kentucky
She was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late David Layne and Elsie Blankenship Layne.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers;
She was a homemaker and member of the Barrenshea Church of God.
Survivors include five sons, Virgie (Carol Sue) Wolford of Stopover, Kentucky, Edward (Vickie) Wolford and Earl (Barb) Wolford, both of Phelps, Kentucky, Orville (Josie) Wolford and Donald Ray Wolford, both of Freeburn, Kentucky; three daughters, Margaret (Thomas) Lester of Phelps, Theresa (Alonzo) Browning of Thacker, W.Va., and Lisa (Chuck) Blankeship of Stopover, Kentucky; three brothers, Clinton Layne of Phelps, Kentucky, Willie Layne of Stopover, Kentucky, and Tracy Layne of Ohio; two sisters, Pearl Lester of Stopover, Kentucky, and Loretta Ward of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at R.S. Jones and Son Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Dale Wolford, the Rev. Doug Maynard, the Rev. Erwin Fields and the Rev. Harold Layne officiating. Burial will follow in Prater cemetery at Jamboree, Kentucky
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the funeral home chapel.

Greg Wallace, 45, of Fredericksburg, Ohio, formerly of Pike County, Kentucky, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church, Hylton, Kentucky, with Gary Kirby and Homer Lee Mullins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cook Family cemetery at Ashcamp, Kentucky

Walter Miller
Walter Miller, 87, of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky
He was born May 29, 1917, in Williamson, W.Va., the son of the late Peter and Ada Copley Miller.
Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Mitchell Miller; one brother, Bill Miller; and one sister, Magdaline Marcum.
He was a retired bookkeeper from Railway Express and was a member of the Rogers Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Randolph Air Carrier CV15.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Lowe Miller of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; one daughter, Brenda (Jim) Pedley of Holiday, Fla.; three brothers, Floyd Miller of Thomasville, N.C., Daniel Miller of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ervin Miller of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Lilly Scott of Hardy, Kentucky, Ethel Gribble of South Williamson, Kentucky, and Sue Dooley of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky, with Minister Rocky Layne officiating. Burial will follow in Scott cemetery at Blackberry, Kentucky
Belfry Chapter No. 141 of the Disabled American Veterans will conducted military graveside rites.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Robert C. Burris
Robert Clayton "Bob" Burris, 73, who taught school for 31 years at Belfry High School before retiring and was a United States Army veteran of World War II, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at his home in South Williamson, Kentucky
He was born Jan. 19, 1932 in South Williamson and was a son of Magdalene Clark Burris of South Williamson and the late Clayton Burris.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Ida Clark and Mr. and Mrs. James Burris; and uncles, John Burris, Raymond Burris, Floyd Burris, Eugene Clark and Geoffrey Clark.
Burris was a 1950 graduate of Williamson High School and a graduate of Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in education. During his military service in World War II, he spent two years in France.
He was a faithful and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Williamson, where he served as a deacon. He was a Mason and a member of the Kentucky Teachers Association.
His hobbies and interests included genealogy and his work with the Williamson High School Reunion Committee which he enjoyed so much. Bob was a devoted son and caregiver to his beloved mother, who survives. He was a faithful friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors also include an uncle, Bob Clark of Ripley, Ohio; an aunt, Alice "Jo" Varney of Ocala, Fla.; a special cousin, Stephen Varney of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, and a host of cousins whom he loved.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The Rev. Roger Tinnel will officiate and deacons of the First Baptist Church of Williamson will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Kentucky, under the direction of Weaver Mortuary.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evening, Feb. 1, 2005, at the mortuary.
Joan Crews
Joan Crews, 83, of Hardy, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Donald E. Bolen Jr.
Donald E. Bolen Jr., 48, a disabled coal miner of Ransom, Kentucky, died January 28, 2005 at Ransom.
Born November 11, 1956 in Pike County, Kentucky, he was a son of Racine Coleman Bolen of Ransom, Kentucky, and the late Donald Eugene Bolen.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Bolen, and a nephew, Billy Shannon.
Surviving in addition to his mother; a son, David Chad Bolen of Pikeville, Kentucky; a daughter, Courtney (Ronnie) Morris of Maher, W.Va.; sisters, Theresa Hager of Ransom, Kentucky, and Betty (Ronald) Hatfield of Ransom; nephews, Donald (Mashanna) Bolen of Ransom, Dana (Porkey) Hager of Ransom, and Kenny (Tami) Bolen of Tennessee; a niece, Crystal Norman of McCarr, Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Hannah Dawn Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church of Ransom with Minister Mike Smith and others officiating.
Burial will follow in the Coleman cemetery at Ransom. Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.
Visitations will begin after 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 at the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church of Ransom.

Kermit "Dinky" Smith Jr., 65, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City, Kentucky Burial will follow in the Dow Brooks cemetery at Draffin, Kentucky

John Ramey
John Vernon Ramey, 77, of South Williamson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2005, at UK Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky
Born June 14, 1928, in Bluefield, W.Va., to the late Harry Ramey and Helen Brooks Ramey Shroder, he recently retired as the Man-ager of Resources for Cotiga Development Co.
John was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamson, Rotary International and the Foundation Board of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College where he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities. He earned the International Rotary honor of being named a Paul Harris Fellow. John was also involved with the Pikeville College Scholarships program. He was a recipient of the Williamson Community Service Award and the John Ramey Scholarship which was recently established in his honor at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College by Cotiga Development Co. in honor of John's retirement. John had also been long identified with the Salvation Army. He was President of the United Fund, Inc.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Johnson Ramey; sons, Van (Rita Joyce) Ramey of Oakton, Va. and Steven (Carolyn Sue) Booth of Red Fox, Kentucky; daughters, Teresa (Terence) Bunn of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Donna Deaton of Huntington, W.Va.; sister, Catherine Brown of New Port, R.I.; grandchildren, Van Ramey, Jr., Stephanie Nicole Ramey, Sandra (Chris) Brinager, Steven Curtis Booth, Daniel (Saundra) Booth, Christen (Joel) Bickel, Charity Booth and Sharon Booth; great grandchildren, Brandon Brinager and Daniel Booth; niece, Georgia (John) Locke of Spotsylvania, Va.; and very special friend, Freddie Dean of Delbarton, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2005, 1 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary with Revs. Greg Blair and Roger Tinnel officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky
