Naomi Goff, 71, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Pikeville Health Care Center.

She was born Oct. 28, 1932, a daughter of the late Miles and Cora Justice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Friends may call starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at the church.

Arrangements are under Thacker Memorial Funeral Home in Pikeville, Kentucky

Carl Mahon
Carl Lee Mahon, 36, of Hazard, Kentucky, formerly of Beech Creek, W.Va., passed away Aug. 5, 2004, at his home.

He was born Dec. 11, 1967, at South Williamson, Kentucky, the son of Carl Mahon of Meador, W.Va., and the late Linda Coleman Mahon.

Mr. Mahon was a coal miner, employed by the Teco Coal Co. of Hazard, Kentucky

Additional survivors include his wife, Beth Ann Barrett Mahon; one son, Marcus Tyler Mahon at home; one daughter, Olivia Carol Mahon of Phelps, Kentucky; one brother, Don Craig Mahon of Meador; one sister, Louise (Bangor) Cantrell of Meador; and four nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Devon Church of Christ with Evangelist John Hatfield and Albert Mahon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Kennedy cemetery at Beech Creek, W.Va.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 and all day Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at the church.

Chafin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

June Barker
Sally June Barker, 79, of Forest Hills, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky

She was born on June 1, 1925, in Chattaroy to the late Wallace Lee and Reba Joe Slater. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Chattaroy Missionary Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU, choir and a former Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lynn Slater; and a son, Richard Lee Barker.

Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband, Earl G. Barker Sr.; two sons, Earl Gilbert "Gibby" Barker Jr. and his wife Eva Carole of Northfork, W.Va., and David Barker and his wife Patty of Chattaroy; two daughters, Susan Joan "Joanie" England of Slater's Branch, Kentucky, and Leigh Ann Smith and her husband James of Williamson; one brother, Paul Neil (Angie) Slater of Slater's Branch; two sisters, Jean Tucker of New Richmond, Ohio, and Bette Joan Sanson of Mammoth, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jimmy Lynn Barker, Earl Gilbert "Rusty" Barker III, Dawn Michelle Johnson, Eules Gale Barker, Ike Jason England, Brandon Clay Hatfield and Ashley Suzanne Hatfield; great-grandchildren, Jeff Barker, Rachel Barker, Kelsey Marie Barker, Casey Johnson, Taylor Brooke Barker; step-grandchildren, David R. Barber and James Aaron Kamp; special friends, Jim and Wanda Stogsdill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2004, at the Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson with the Rev. W.L. Bostic officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky

Pallbearers will be Jason England, Eules Barker, Jimmy Barker, Rusty Barker, Jim Stogsdill, Billie E. Dotson, Danny Maynard, Brendon Clay Hatfield and Terry "Pud" Varney.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Weaver Mortuary.

Freda Ferrell
Freda Marie Ferrell, age 63, of Majestic, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky

She was born on January 5, 1941, in Winchester, Va., the daughter of the late Asbury and Hazel Green Schwartz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Ferrell.

She was a homemaker, of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Barrenshea Church of God.

She is survived by three sons, Timothy James Settle of Majestic, Kentucky, Robert Settle of Pennsylvania and Marshall Settle of White Hall, Va.; four daughters, Denise Davis of Chesapeake, Va., Cynthia Fravel of Martinsburg, W.Va., Sherryl Gnegy, Talitha Settle; stepdaughter Patty Scott of Majestic, Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Ann Moore of Monroeville, Md. and Carol Shrewsbury of Majestic, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2004, 12 noon, at the Barrenshea Church of God, Freeburn, Kentucky with Ministers Bobby Dale Wolford, Doug Maynard and Raymond Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in the Freeburn Community cemetery at Freeburn. Family, friends and members of the church will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday at the church with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Barbara Robb
Barbara "Sally Farley" Robb, 67, of Steele, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5, 2004, 11 a.m., at First Church of God, Fedscreek, Kentucky

Visitation will be held at First Church of God, after 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc., Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Paul Bowen
Paul Lynn Bowen, 35, of Hode, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.

Born October 12, 1968, in Pike County, Kentucky, to Marian Sue Horn and Melvin Bowen, he was disabled. Mr. Bowen was a member of Warfield Church of God.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, John Luther Bowen and Melissa Charlene Bowen.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, Becky Marcum Bowen of Hode, Kentucky; son, Joshua Paul Bowen of Hode, Kentucky; stepson, Keith Marcum of Logan, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Jessica Marcum of Ohio; grandmother, Philista Mae Horn of Louisa, Kentucky; brothers, Melvin Bowen of Hode, Kentucky and William Arthur Bowen of Hode, Kentucky; 13 nieces and nephews; and one great niece.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5, 2004, 1 p.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, Kentucky, with Rev. Kenny Gore and Johnny Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Ward cemetery, Hode, Kentucky

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, Kentucky

Randy Wolford
Randy Wolford, 38, of Edgarton died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky

She was born Aug. 16, 2004, in Williamson to the late Roscoe and Lois Robinette Williams. He was a disabled carpenter.

Mr. Wolford is survived by his wife, Lassie Leedy Wolford; three daughters, Saranda Wolford, Brittany Wolford and Salena Wolford, all of Ransom, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Opal Miller of Matewan and Marie Hickman of Edgarton; three brothers, Jack Robinette of Edgarton, Donald Ray Robinette of Florida, Terry Maynard, address unknown; and two sisters, Geneva Bowling of McAndrews, Kentucky, and Mildred Ray of Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at the Delorme Bible Church with the Rev. Hiram Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Dotson cemetery, Phelps, Kentucky

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky

James Miller
James Francis Miller, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at his family farm in Wyndehurst, Kentucky, in Woodford County.

Mr. Miller, the son of John Scott and Ethel Francis Miller, was born on March 10, 1924, in Pikeville, Kentucky He was the widower of Vivian Coleman Miller. Educated at the Pikeville Training Academy, Centre College and a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law, he was in private law practice in Lexington, Kentucky, and Versailles, Kentucky, before becoming a full-time farmer.

For many years, he was active in the Presbyterian and Orthodox churches. He was the past national vice president of the Sons of the American Revolution and a life-long member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Mr. Miller is survived by three children, Evan Miller and Ann Richmond of Woodford County and Mary Katherine Shaffer of Roanoke, Va.; and three grandchildren, Vivian Richmond, Katie Miller and Alex Miller.

Visitation will be at St. Andrew's Orthodox Church, 1136 Higbee Mill Rd., Lexington from 9:30 a.m., until 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 16. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Orthodox Church, 1136 Higbee Mill Rd., Lexington, KY 40503.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, Versailles.

Jesse Mosley
Jesse Stephen Mosley, an infant, died shortly after his birth Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

He was the son of Stephen Garrett and Rebekah Lynn Varney Mosley of Turkey Creek, Kentucky

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stanley C. Consley.

He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Stephen and Diane Varney of Turkey Creek; and his paternal grandparents, Gary and Tami Mosley of Williamson and Pam Consley of Milton, Kentucky

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky, with Donovan Mosley officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman cemetery, Huddy, Kentucky

Bobby Swafford and Donnie Ratcliffe will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.

Dottie Fannin
Dottie Lue Fannin, 61, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2004, at her residence.

Born November 27, 1943, in Johnson County, Kentucky, to the late Langley Dutton and Grace Ward Dutton, she was self-employed in the grocery business and a member of Pack Bottom United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Lonnie Dutton.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Fannin; daughters, Annetta Sue Fannin of Inez, Kentucky and Connie Louise Fannin of Dallas, Tex.; brothers, Bobby Dutton of Boonescamp, Kentucky and Davy Dutton of Williamsport, Kentucky; sisters, Betty Hurt of Frankfort, Kentucky, Dimple Brewer of Lovely, Kentucky and Audrey James of Grkove City, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2004, 2 p.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky with Lonnie Ratliff and on Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at Fannin cemetery of Louisa, Kentucky

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky

Mildred Sincell
Mildred Hardin Sincell, 72, of Phelps, Kentucky, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Pikeville (Kentucky) Medical Center.

She was born on March 13, 1932, in Pike County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George and Nellie Hamilton Hardin. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Roger Sincell; infant son Dennis Randall; infant daughter, Brenda Kay; and one sister Sadie Pruitt.

Mrs. Sincell is survived by her husband, Frankie Sincell; one son, Larry (Racine) Sincell of Phelps; one daughter, Linda (Ronnie) Gearles of Phelps; two brothers, Vernon Hardin of Tennessee and Douglas Hardin of Matewan; one sister, Opal Stump of Phelps; six grandchildren, Malena, Tonya, Kevin, Ronald, David and Sam; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at the Phelps Free Pentecostal Church of God with the Revs. William Cornn, Opie Harris and Richard McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Frankie Sincell Family cemetery, Phelps.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at the church. Special services will begin at 7 p.m. nightly.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps Funeral Services of Phelps.

JoAnn Murray
JoAnn Ball Murray, 49, of Phelps, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at the Pikeville (Kentucky) Medical Center.

She was born on June 21, 1955, in Matewan, to the late Darrell Ball and Fannie May Ball Casey. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Ball; and one sister, Mary Ellen Ball.

Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband, Christopher S. Murray of Phelps; two stepdaughters Sadie Bowen of McVeigh, Kentucky, and Sharon of Phelps and a host of stepchildren; three brothers, Leroy Ball of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Darrell Eugene Ball of Cave Run, Kentucky, and Billy Jo Ball of Columbia, Kentucky; three stepbrothers, Jimmy Casey of Phelps, Buddy Casey of Cynthiana, Kentucky, and Ancie L. Casey of Freeburn, Kentucky; three sisters, Betty Sue Kirkpatrick and Linda Sue Skeens, both of Phelps, Kentucky, and Nancy Jane Ferrell of new Vienna, Ohio, and a stepsister, Lena Smith of Cynthiana.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at The Lord's House at Phelps with the Revs. Mitch Bowling, Michael Casey, Ronnie Bowling and Opie Ray Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Family cemetery, Smith Fork, Phelps.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at the church. Special services will be conducted at 7 p.m. nightly.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps Funeral Service of Phelps.
