Angela Carol Bentley, 33, of Shelbiana Dry Fork, Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born April 7, 1971, in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of James Bentley and Shirley Adkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Justice Funeral Home in Pikeville, Kentucky

Friends may call all day Sunday, March 6, 2005. A special service is set for 7 p.m. Friends may also call prior to services Monday.

Justice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Whitt
Joyce (Igo) Whitt, 71, of Ransom, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., surrounded by her family.

She was born May 21, 1933, in Ransom, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John and Fanny Pearl Smith.

Mrs. Whitt was also preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Igo; second husband, Bradley Whitt; two brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Smith; and two sisters, Wilma Lorene Smith and Goldene Alley.

She was a homemaker.

If mothers were flowers, we would have picked her. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her survivors:

three sons, Timothy (Susie) Igo of Catawba, N.C., Keith (Pat) Igo of Kermit, W.Va., and Gregory Igo, who resided with her at Ransom, Kentucky; one daughter, Sabrina (Mickey) Daniels of Ransom, Kentucky; grandchildren, Timothy Allen Igo, Tamara Belton and April Miller, all of Catawba, N.C., Joyce Igo and Patricia Igo of Kermit, W.Va., Deidra Dotson, Mickaila and Colton Daniels, all of Ransom, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Kerstian Hendershot, Jordan Clonch, Chase Igo, and Sierra Miller, all of North Carolina, and Hailey and Madison Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky

Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.

Thank you and appreciation to all her special friends for all their love, friendship and support:

Beatrice Whitt, Dolly Hatfield, Martha and Francis Akers; Curt, Chelsea, Tony and Linda Hatfield, all of Ransom, Kentucky; James Harvey Smith of Cherokee, N.C.; and Linda Sue Daniels of Cleveland, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Elder Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Dotson cemetery at Ransom, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the funeral home with services set for 7 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky

John Maynard
John Richard Maynard, 67, of Belfry, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Born May 31, 1937 in Turkey Creek, Kentucky, to the late Delmon Maynard and Ocie Skeens Maynard, he was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Ann Maynard; brothers, Glen Maynard, Donnie Maynard and Bill Sellards; and sisters, Ruby C. Walters and Ernestine Leal.

Surviving are his wife Jeanne Ann Maynard of Belfry, Kentucky; sons, Lewie "Rick" Maynard of Belfry, Kentucky and John Michael Maynard (Tammy Orndorff) of Martin County, Kentucky; daughters, Mary Ann Blackburn (Homer Hite Jr.) of Belfry, Kentucky and Nina Maynard of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, James R. Maynard of Turkey Creek, Kentucky and Lewie Maynard of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; grandchildren, Harley, Cayley Grace, Melissa, Chase and Amber. Also surviving are a host of friends, family members and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005, 1 p.m., at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Lonnie Francis officiating. Interment will follow at Maynard cemetery at Rogers Park, Turkey Creek, Kentucky

Active pallbearers are Greg Maynard, Bruce Maynard, Brandon Thacker, Glenn Michael Vernatter, Brandon Maynard and Rick Maynard. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Short, Glen Gannon, Mikey McCoy, Buddy R. Maynard and David Maynard.

Visitation was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home with services at 7 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky

Thomas Sanders
Thomas Andrew Sanders, 64, of Ashcamp, Kentucky, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Pikeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Sanders cemetery at Sycamore, Kentucky

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. of Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Herma Varney
Herma Varney, 87, loving and devoted Christian grandmother and great nana, went to meet Jesus at 3:12 a.m., March 13, 2005. She was born January 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Levi and Betty (Honaker) Varney of Johns Creek.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luke Varney and three children: Helen Gaye, David Varney and Jean Layne. She is survived by two sons, Ralph and Rodie and four daughters, Lurlie May, Joyce Miller and Phyllis May all of Grassy and Elleyn Howard of Uniontown, Pa.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Additionally she has one surviving brother and sister, John Varney and Octavia Chapman and three very special sisters-in-law, Mertie Hackney, Mae McCown and June Bevins.

Herma devoted 67 years of her life to wonderful husband, Luke and all of her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew and garden and was a member of the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be sent to the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center in Pikeville, Kentucky

Pallbearers: Ronald Collins, Matt Lowe, Jerry Miller, John Ray, Ralph Varney, Jr., Chad Varney, Cleveland Varney and Melloyd Conway.

Honorary Pallbearers: Randy Miller, David Miller and Robert "Bobby" Layne.

Magdaline Coleman
Magdaline Coleman, 63, of Jamboree, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

She was born on May 26, 1941 at Jamboree, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Howard and Sadie Fields Daugherty.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jim Daugherty and one sister, Della Ray.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Jamboree Church of God.

She is survived by one, Luther (Theresa) Hager of Phelps, Kentucky; two sisters, Ethel Mae (Tommy) Moore of Canton, Mich., and Inis Belcher of Clay City, Kentucky; two brothers, Jack (Billie) Daugherty of Tampa, Fla., and Robert (Ruth) Daugherty of Phelps, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Cantessa and Tiffany.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2005, 12 noon, at the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Gordon and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Daugherty Family cemetery at Jamboree.

Visitation will be held Sunday after 6 p.m. at the chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps, Kentucky

John Maynard
John B. "Bud" Maynard, 84, of Majestic, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005, at his residence.

He was born on January 14, 1921 at Majestic, Kentucky, to the late Sidney and Lillian Chapman Maynard.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Taylor Maynard; son, Ken Maynard; daughter, Judith Ann Buckner; sisters, Adlaine Hurley, Sally Massie and Gearldine Maynard; brothers, Eugene "Gene" Maynard, Sidney Maynard "Hoover" Jr., Donald Maynard and Bryson Maynard; grandchildren, Kent Maynard and Donnie Melton; and great grandchild, Colten Kinzer Dotson.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Majestic Church of Christ.

He is survived by two sons, John B. Maynard Jr. of Phoenix, Az. and Glen (Kathy) Maynard of Majestic, Kentucky; four daughters, Barbara Sue Melton of Phoenix, Az., Marcella (Franklin) Dotson and Bonnie Gail (Adlai) Dotson both of Majestic, Kentucky and Patricia (Ernest) Sanson of Greenville, S.C.; brother, Lonnie Maynard of Majestic, Kentucky; sisters, Delores "Sis" Baisden of Delbarton, W.Va. and Edith Wolford of McAndrews, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2005, 2 p.m., at the Majestic Church of Christ with Minister Tennis Daniels and others officiating. Burial will follow in the John B. Maynard cemetery at Majestic.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6, 2005, after 6 p.m., at the church with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps, Kentucky

April Crum
April Crum, 47, of Martin County, Kentucky, died Saturday, march 12, 2005 at Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Kentucky

Born Feb. 2, 1958, in Wayne County, W.Va., she was a daughter of Lilly Owens of Delbarton, W.Va. and the late Wayne Wallace.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Crum was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dewayne Crum.

She was a homemaker.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: her husband, Bobby Gene Crum of Martin County, Kentucky; a daughter, Brandy Nicole Crum of Georgetown, Kentucky; a brother, Jack Owens of Delbarton, W.Va.; four sisters, Rmilda Hall, Delana Newsome and Christina Owens, all of Delbarton, W.Va. and Darlene Hicks of Rawl, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler, Kentucky with Gary Runyon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Maher W.Va.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2005 at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with special services at 7 p.m. and anytime on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 with no special services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler, Kentucky

James Honaker
James B. Honaker, 80, of Burning Fork, Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born April 25, 1924, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late James Ballard, Sr. and Nanny "Burnette" Honaker, he was a veteran of WWII and a member of D.A.V. Chapter 166, Johns Creek. He was retired from the State Highway Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Randolph Honaker.

Surviving are his wife, Eva F. Honaker of Burning Fork, Pikeville, Kentucky; sons, Charles Michael "Mike" Honaker and wife, Paula, of Yadkinville, N.C., Anthony Wayne Honaker and wife, Mary Elizabeth of Willow Springs, N.C.; granddaughter, Jamey Renee Honaker and husband, Jeffery Douglas Hall of Four Oaks, N.C., daughter of Anthony and Mary; and grandson, Dustin (Dusty) Gregory of Yadkinville, N.C., currently serving as a U.S. Marine in Iraq; brother, Ray Honaker of Floyd County, Kentucky; and sister, Gerema Sue Tackett of Pikeville, Kentucky

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2005, 1 p.m., at Community Funeral Home with Shane Lockhard and E.W. Damron officiating. Burial will follow at the Honaker Family cemetery, Burning Fork, Pikeville, Kentucky

D.A.V. rites will be presented by Chapter 166 of Johns Creek.

Visitation will be held after 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Community Funeral Home, Zebulon Highway, Pikeville, Kentucky

Herma Varney, 87, of Grassy Creek, Raccoon, Kentucky, passed away March 13, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center. She was born January 15, 1918.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home, Zebulon Highway, Pikeville, Kentucky

Lucy Perry
Lucy Endicott Perry, 92, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away at Pine Meadows Nursing Home, Lexington, Kentucky

Born April 4, 1912, in Martin County, Kentucky, to the late Thomas and Rora Horn Endicott, she was a homemaker and a member of Inez Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Sherman Perry Jr.; five brothers; and five sisters.

Surviving are her sons, Sherman (Gus) and wife Lynn Perry of Grove City, Ohio and Wade Perry of Inez, Kentucky; daughter, Iva Dean Preece of Lexington, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one brother, Sid Endicott of Thelma, Kentucky

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2005, 11 a.m., at Inez Freewill Baptist Church with Kevin Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Justice cemetery, Inez, Kentucky

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon from 2 - 4 and Monday evening 6 - 9 p.m. at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky

Louie Gauze
Louie Clinton Gauze, 64, of Belfry, Kentucky, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Born June 6, 1940 in Williamson, W.Va., he was a son of the late Hent and Flora Pinson Gauze.

Mr. Gauze was retired.

Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Vance Gauze of Merrimac, W.Va.; two sons, Louie Clinton (Jackie) Gauze of Turkey Creek, Kentucky and Scott Edward (Crystal Gauze); two daughters, Debbie Gauze Burgett and Kathy (Freddie) Gauze, both of Belfry, Kentucky and nine grandchildren.

There will be no funeral services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary, West Williamson, W.Va.
