Stephanie Shepherd

Stephanie Leigh Shepherd, age 33, of Stanville, Kentucky, wife of Shannon Shepherd, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004, in the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Kentucky

Mrs. Shepherd was born August 10, 1970, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Hobart "Jim" and Sharon Cundiff Baldwin.

Mrs. Shepherd was a counselor at John M. Stumbo Elementary. She was a member of the Maytown Baptist Church and the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church. She was a secretary for the Kentucky School Counseling Association and a team leader with the Counseling Group in Floyd County, Kentucky Mrs. Shepherd was the salutatorian of her senior class and attended Morehead State University on a President's Scholarship. In 2003 she was named Counselor of the Year in Kentucky. Mrs. Shepherd taught seven years in Pike County, Kentucky and three years in Floyd County, Kentucky

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Hobart "Jim" and Sharon Cundiff Baldwin of Chattaroy, W. Va.; one son, Seth Christian Shepherd; and one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Shepherd, both of Stanville, Kentucky; one brother, James Andrew Baldwin of Chattaroy, W. Va.; and two sisters, Rhonda L. Stanley of Canada, Kentucky and Adrienne S. Buis of Eubank, Kentucky

Funeral services for Stephanie Leigh Shepherd will be conducted on Sunday, January 18, 2004, at 2 p.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, Kentucky

Visitation for Mrs. Shepherd is after 5 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2004, at the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church at Sidney, Kentucky and after 5 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004, at the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky

Their will be a special singing at 6 p.m. Friday at the church and services at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Shepherd are Eric Stanley, Allen Buis, Jamie Baldwin, Gregory Baldwin, Gregory Baldwin II, Mike Cooley and Shawn Ousley.

Arrangements are under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky

Hie Maynard

Hie Maynard, 73, of Sidney, Kentucky, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson.

Born Nov. 5, 1930, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Harvey and Fanny Pauley Maynard.

In addition to his parents, Hie was proceeded in death by his wife, Betty Carol Johnson Maynard; four brothers, Trimble Maynard, Earl Maynard and two infants and two sisters, Grace Phipps and Belva Church.

He is survived by two sons, Hie Edgar (Sylviona) Maynard of Sidney and Earl Wayne (Selena) Maynard of Phyllis, Kentucky, and three sisters, Pearlie May of Sidney; Hazel (Vannis) Church of Blackberry, Kentucky, and Bertha Doss of Virginia Beach, Va.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Rogers Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Rick Gannon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Scott cemetery, Sidney.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 and Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at the funeral home chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.

Gracie Boyce

Gracie Boyce, 76, of Slaters Branch, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Skilled Nursing, ARH Hospital, S. Williamson, Kentucky

Born December 30, 1927, at Brushy Creek, Kentucky, to the late Ezra Clark and Dixie Runyon Clark, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Boyce was a member of Philadelphia United Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Earl Boyce of Slaters Branch, Kentucky; sons, Rick (Michelle) Boyce of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, Joey (Cheryl) Boyce and Johnny (Donna) Boyce, both of Mabank, Texas, and Ronnie (LeeAnn) Boyce of Hot Springs, Ark.; daughters, Pat (Ken) Goss of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, Kathleen (Dennis) Matthews of Richlands, Va., Judy (Tom) Pinson of Grand Prarie, Texas, Brenda (Billy) Floyd of Arlington, Texas; brother, Johnny Clark of Borderland, W. Va.; sisters, Ida Jo Spradlin of Borderland, W. Va. and Linda Miller of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Staci Goss and Shawn Varney of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, Greg Goss of Richlands, Va., Kristie Boyce of Mabank, Texas, Stephanie Phillips and Tony Floyd of Arlington, Texas and James Boyce of Grand Prarie, Texas; and one great grandson, Clayton Phillips.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 20904, 2 p.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Delbert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Family cemetery, Dan's Branch, Borderland, W. Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday and anytime Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky

Ray Lester

Ray Lester, 44, of Steele, Kentucky, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Faith First Baptist Church at Jimmy's Creek, Regina, Kentucky Burial will follow in the Lester Family cemetery at Steele.

Visitation will be at the church after 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Deborah Ann Endicott
Deborah Ann Endicott, 47, of Inez, Kentucky, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at her residence.

She was born July 5, 1956, in Martin County, a daughter of the late Peanut and Ella Lois Endicott.

Deborah was a homemaker and a member of the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Endicott; grandparents, Harry and Mint Endicott and special grandparents who raised her, Eli and Annie Crum.

She is survived by: one son, Jimmy Ray (Amanda) Endicott; two daughters, Anna (Kenny) Marcum and Danielle (Jeff) Harmon; three brothers, Ronnie Endicott and Kelly Endicott, both of Columbus, Ohio and Roy Endicott of Inez; five sisters, Cathy Toops, Mable Endicott, Becky Clendinen and Denice Smith, all of Columbus and Lois Lea Crum of Campbellsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren James Marcum; David Roberts; Devin Harmon; Trevor Harmon; Dustin Harmon; Brandon Endicott and Courtney Endicott; a host of nieces and nephews; three aunts and two uncles by blood, Patty Crum; Loretta Branham; Frankie Horn; Bascom Crum and James Crum; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Pauline Endicott; brothers-in-law, Danny, Rex, Dale, Bobby and Bruce Endicott; sisters-in-law, Melinda Moore and Charlene Anderson and a very special uncle, Buddy Troy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the New Friendship United Baptist Church with Terry Conley, Sterling Marcum and Lin Dale Marcum officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crum Family cemetery at Calf Creek, Kentucky

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. for family and 5 p.m. for the public Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home of Inez, Kentucky

Doyle Johnson

Doyle Harmon Johnson, 66, Forest Hills, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 12, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky

Born May 28, 1937, in Goody, Kentucky, to the late Earnest Johnson and Lydia Stafford Johnson, he was a retired machine operator. Mr. Johnson worked with the Maintenance of Way Dept. of N & W and N & S Railroad. He was a member of McAndrews Church of Christ, Stone Masonic Lodge #890 F. & A.M., member of El Hasa Shriners, Ashland, Kentucky, Stone Chapter #533 O.E.S. and a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roscoe Johnson.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Beulah Willis Johnson; son, Doyle Robin (Dawn Michaelle) Johnson of Hardy, Kentucky; daughters, Deborah Kay (Irvine) Doss of Forest Hills, Kentucky and Connie Louise (Eddie Bruce) Hatfield of Hardy, Kentucky; six grandchildren who adored their PaPa Joe, Shannon (Kathy) Doss, Belinda K. Doss, Katrina Lynn Doss, Joshua Bruce Hatfield, Krista Lynn Hatfield and Kasey Lynn Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2004, 1 p.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with David Parsley officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. View memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, Kentucky

Serving as pallbearers are Irvine Doss, Eddie Bruce Hatfield, Doyle Robin Johnson, Shannon Doss, Joshua Hatfield and Hilman Dotson.

Honorary pallbearers are Homer Dye, Earl Lee, Ricky Lee, Benny Tackett, Bill Tussey, Carl Tussey, Paul Thomas, Jack Blackburn, Hassell Simpkins and Frank Mounts.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home with special services at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky

Gracie Boyce

Altia Bailey

Altia Bailey, 92, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky and the mother of Denver Bailey died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bailey-Owens cemetery, Haysi, Va.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday, January 5.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Branham

Mary Ann Branham, 79, of Allegheny Road, Hellier, Kentucky died Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2003 at Allegheny Freewill Baptist Church, Allegheny, Kentucky Burial will follow at the Robinson cemetery, Allegheny, Kentucky

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at the church with services starting nightly at 7 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Faye Ann Cantrell Elkins

Faye Ann Cantrell Elkins, 62, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elkins Family cemetery, Elkhorn City, Kentucky

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday, January 4.

Doyle Johnson

Joe Deskins, 75, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Three Rivers Hospital, Louisa, Kentucky

Born January 28, 1928, in South Williamson, Kentucky, to the late Tilden and Agnes Slater Deskins, he was a retired coal machinery worker.

Surviving are his wife, Clifforne Hall Deskins of Inez, Kentucky; son, Fred Deskins of Crum, W. Va.; daughter, Ginger Stepp of Inez, Kentucky; and sister, Virginia Bilter of South Williamson, W. Va.; grandchildren, Jamie Stepp, Rebecca Stepp, Sarah Deskins, Stephina Deskins and Anthony Deskins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004, 1:30 p.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral with Rev. Keith Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Preece cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home beginning at 5 p.m.

Kathy Justice

Kathy Justice, 43, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2004.

She was born January 9, 1961, in Lawrence County, Kentucky to Monroe Slone and Lola Jude Slone.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2004, 2 p.m., at Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky with James Slone, Hubert Presley Jr. and Hobert Meek officiating. Burial will follow in the Slone Family cemetery.

Visitation will be held at anytime at the funeral home.
